  • Three weeks of daily rain and the snow made the maiden flight of my M4 Max impossible. I almost went crazy! Now she is up in the air and I am in love from the very first flight! The bigger motor is so powerful that you can fly the M4 Max with much lower headspeed than the M4 and get the same performance. The dominating sound are the main rotor blades ande they are creating the best music! If you love low RPM you will love the M4 Max! No doubt!!

    Battery life info: After this 8 minute flight I had 22,86 volt restpower in my 6S OMPHOBBY 2000 mAh battery. 3,80 volt left in each cell! So I could even fly longer!

    • @RCCopterLove
      @RCCopterLove  5 місяців тому +1

      @@OregonMotorcycle At that time I was flying with around 1850 rpm. But I found out that in loops , flips and rolls I need some more headspeed: I went up to 2000 rpm and the flighttime with the same voltage per cell is now one minute shorter, so 7 minutes! Best greetings!!

      RubenRC94 Hi Ruben! Somehow I was sure I was answering you some ago, but I see now that I did not. Sorry. Yes, the M4 Max is a amazing machine! For me it's all the time positively shocking how good this heli behaves in loops, rolls and flips with 1750 RPM! Never any lack of power, RPM very stable, I guess as well thanks to the great working governor of the ESC 85A in the PNP set. Flighttime 8 minutes with still 3,8 volts per cell rest in my batteries - the way I like it to have many hundrest of circles!! I wish you all the very best for he birth of your duaghter and your whole family!

      @@RCCopterLove thanks, best wishes for you and your family as well for the new year! And lots of flight time of course.
      It's amazing how well the m4 max handles low rpm. My 580 has quite some longer blades, but I don't really like the feel under 2000 rpm. The m4 still seems to have plenty of power!

      @@RubenRC94 I wish you as well lots of love and joyful moments with your daughter and in 2024 many happy and safe flights as well! I have always a big smile on my face when I hear this silent motor sound at 1750 RPM and see what this machine is capable of at this headspeed. It is as if you would watch a Frerrari but hear the motor sound of a strong diesel truck! By the way, I am using a SIM since a couple of days and I am inverted (on the sim). Transitions upright inverted and upright again are safe, but hovering on one place, my big goal, needs still a lot of training! But I love the SIM!! Better late than never!! :)

    Oh wow! I learned something new: You mentioned that you encountered Vortex Ring State effect and I had to learn as much as I could about it. I’m a fixed wing pilot, and sometimes, new things are disconcerting! Do you find that you get more VRS with the M4 than the max? I’m guessing that with the additional power of the M4Max, it is easier to fly out of. I began to wonder why this isn’t always an issue in a hover, but I’m also guessing that ground effect works against it, so maybe it is a higher altitude thing? Sometimes when descending vertically from maybe 30 m or more both with the M1, M2 and quadcopters, there will be some transient air noises that I’m now suspecting could be this very phenomenon. So now I have a new thing to think about! 🤔

    • @RCCopterLove
      @RCCopterLove  8 місяців тому

      @t.s.thomas2642 I am far away from beeing a specialist for vortex ringstate effect but as far as I understood (and experienced) this phenomen it appears mainly if you let your heli loose lots of altitude in a sehort time with simultaneous very few or even no speed. For sure in higher altidude or on days with low air density this phenomen happpens more likely. And You are right: The bigger power reserve of the M4 Max makes it easier to compensate this state and to "catch" the heli from loosing more altitude. And yes, I agree again, this strange sharp noise of the main blades whenever you are descending a lot vertically, so without speed, seems to be the vortex sound. It;s very different to the "typical" sound the blade are making. For good luck our models have so much power in relation to their weight that we rarely get real problems and can recover easily. I am flying now sometimes big and heavy scale helicopters on my simulator and I see that with them you have to be much more careful. Even is too steep turns with too few speed = bad flying, I had some fast loss of altitude.

    Just got my ///M4 Max in the air. Absolutely love it. It’s my best heli ever. I like it better than my Align 6-700 size helis I’ve had before. Flys better and it’ll be cheaper to crash;). I have the ///M2 Evo and my ///M1 Evo shows up tomorrow. I had the tail wag too. Once the linkage loosens up it’ll go away. I changed my servo set up too and that helped. I also had to balance my main blades. Did you have to balance anything? Thanks!

    • @RCCopterLove
      @RCCopterLove  5 місяців тому +1

      @oregonMotorcycle Meanwhile I have done some changes in the setup, a bit higher tail gain and higher head speed, now around 2000 rpm. It is much better with the tail wag! But I did not check if my main blads are balanced... I did not know that it's good to do it. I am still new into helis! # years now. Have a lot of fun with your helis and safe flights! Thanks for your kind comment!

    Wow what a great looking helicopter and beautiful flight! My biggest heli is the Goosky S2 right now. Maybe next year a 400 size. Did you need more collective degrees comparing to the m4 to compensate for the lower rpm?

    • @RCCopterLove

    Awesome flying! There have been a few amazing developments in RC helis since I first learnt to fly, but haven't flown in around 10 years. The most interesting I think is Rotorflight, and I'm interested to know if you've tested it?

    • @RCCopterLove
      @RCCopterLove  4 місяці тому +1

      @blooskyy7 Thank you very much for your kind words! Yes, you are right! in the last few years there have been amazing developments. I did not test Rotorflight yet - especially because I am unexperienced in FBL programming. But I have heard from many OMPHOBBY Heli Team Pilots, especially Jonas Wackershauser, that they really love it and that it offers an amazing performance and precision! I hope with their help and advise I will be able to test it in my next helicopter. In jonas opinion it is much better used with Radiomaster and the TX 16 than the Mikado VBar system in means of performance. Best greetings from Poland!!

      @siimisimsonsk Hi Simon! Das mit dem erst Mal M1 und den M2 fliegen ist eine sehr gute Idee! Ich bin froh, dass ich mit den "kleinen" angefangen habe. Im Fall eines Crashes ist das viel billiger und einfacher zu reparieren. Ich fliege mit Edge TX und habe meine throttle curves bei 5% Idle up 1 und 15 % Idle up 2, wobei ich Akrobatik nur in Idle up 2 fliege. in anderen Programmen (TX) bedeutet das ca 60 % (denke ich) + und - Collective Pitch je 13 Grad. Fuer mich optimal! Ich hoffe das hilf dir!! Viel Freude!!

      @@simmisimsonsk Wenn du dir den M2 EVO holst, wirst du geschockt sein, wie gross der Unterschied ist, Simon! Die 3 S Batterie macht einen grossen Unterschied in der Power Reserve und Flugdauer im Vergleich zum M1. Der M2 Evo hat einen staerkeren Hauptmotor, laengere Rotorblaetter sowie einen groesseren und staerkeren und leiseren Heckmotor und Rotor! Das alles sorgt dafuer, dass ich meine M2 Evos fuehle, als seien sie ein Teil meines Koerpers und selbst bei staerktem Wind fliege. Ich habe auch 2 M2 V2's und einen M2 Explore und der Evo ist ein echter Fortschritt. Alle meine M2's sind klasse, aber der EVO ist die Wucht! Du wirst ihn lieben! Da bin ich mir sicher!!
