This one exercise can rapidly improve your flying skills!!
One single flight maneuver helped me to learn to hover inverted on one place. The whole year 2024 I was trying this very hard, but I was all over the place as soon I transitioned my heli to inverted. I mixed forward and backwards, left and right. In the last days of the "old" year I reminded myself what I did when I started to train upright forward flight in 2021. Thats how the idea came up! I experienced a "Magical Click"!! I want to explain you why this single exercise helped me so much! Have fun and I hope it works as well for you!! Have a great 2025!!

How will my OMP M2 Evo fly on a hot day in the mountains?

We spent the last sunny days in September hiking in the mountains. Because my wife loves me she asked me to take my OMPHOBBY M2 EVO with me. Happy New Year Matheus, great video and flying. As you say to talk and fly at the same time is really difficult but you did it very well demonstrating your progressing skills perfectly. Shame it was windy usually the cold frosty days means high pressure and still air giving perfect flying conditions. Watch your batteries though they will not perform as long or as good as in the summer. All the best for 2025👏👍

      @All_things_RC Thank you for your encouraging words! Yes, I am definitely flying much better when I am quiet and ONLY focused on flying. Additional the camera on me and on my heli is giving more pressure, because every mistake is at once recorded... so unfortunately (or fortunately, as you wish), my flying OFF the videos is a lot better, more smooth and controlled. With the batteries you are right! I have them always in thick pockets of my winter jacket to keep them warmer as long as possible and additional have set my timers shorter in winter to not overstress my loved LiPos! By the way in two weeks I want to publish a video focused on how to charge, use, store safely, treat and so on your LiPos to make them last as long as possible in a great shape. I guess this will be interesting, as I was looking for information during my 3,5 years of flying and went through different charger types and models, always stepping up! For you as well all the best for 2025!! Many happy and safe flights!!

      Looking Forward to see how you deal with the lipo management as this is a very important part of our hobby. I did a film on my channel also but its always good to share and learn from others as they maybe doing something better. I also did a video on a heated box for keeping the lipos warm in the winter at the field. This gave me great results on battery performance and longevity. Keep the videos coming they are great.

    Thank you for your exercise-idea. Did you use the M2 EVO MK2? I kept having problems flying backwards with my M2 EVO, where it would suddenly straighten out and stop. I often had the same problem when flying inverted. I hope the new FBL of the MK2 will solve this problem. With my M4 MAX this problem never occurs, and I also find that flying backwards and inverted is easier with this model. I wish you all the best for 2025 and many beautiful flights with your helicopters. Greetings from snow-white Switzerland Reto

    • @RCCopterLove
      @RCCopterLove 4 дні тому

      @jupi-aladin Hello Reto! Thank you for your kind comment! Yes, I am now only and always flying the M2 EVO MK2. After many test flights with adjustment right on the field I have setup the heli that it flies like a small copy of my M4 Max (even with white skids for the look). Now its very resposive in roll and pitch(elevator) - rates and Fastforward feed. I love this and that my "classic" M2 EVO was slower in rolling and flipping and less agressive overall on smallest stick inputs disturbed me. If you switch to the MK2 or get the MK2 upgrade kit you will fly the M2 EVO just like the M4 Max! The upgraded swashplate AND the stronger main Motor are important parts to let all factors play ideally together. The skids are just optics but are as well great now with grey trees in the background! Thank you for your wishes! I wish you as well a great 2025 in all aereas of life, not only heli flying! Best greetings from as well snow white Poland!!

      @r7_guy941 Thank you very much for your good wishes, as well from my wife and camera woman!! The best wishes for you and your family as well. Regarding Expo or dual rates: I am using NO expo and (super) fastest rates. A friend sent me his model files to get started with my new FrSky X14S transmitter. He uses Expo and 3 rates but for me it was almost impossible to fly with these settings. I found it very confusing to see my heli reacting different on the same stickinputs. I never used low rates or expo because i love super, super fast and "sharp" reactions on my smallest micro stickmoves. For me this became second nature from day one and it gives me for my style of flying maximum control and connection with my helis. With Expo all this conected feeling was for me lost. So I deleted all these options as well as selflevel/rescue. I cannot fly at all with selflevel, I can only crash with it.... 😀

      @@r7_guy941 Hi! I am using the AccuRC3 simulator and I am mainly flying the SAB Kraken 580 in the sim. I did a lot of fine tuning in the Sim Flybarless (rotation speed, agility, 3D mode, zero expo, hig rates etc) to get the flightperformance as clos as possible to my M4 Max. For me this quite old simulator feels very good regarding flight physics. I am flying often in the Sim and on the field on the same day and it feels very close (if there is not too much wind). Regarding the TX setup: Iam still new to FrSky and got model fiels from a friend. I am very far from knowing how to do this yet. Lieber Matthias, Danke für dieses tolle Video :) Ich find es super, dass du uns Zuschauer deine Flugfortschritte zeigt und auch erklärst, wie du die Sache angeht. Gut ist auch, dass du nicht die ganze Zeit "Stumpf" rückwärts fliegst sondern auch immer wieder mal die Richtung wechselst. Ich habe am Simulator rücken rückwärts fliegen geübt. Was mir komischerweise leicht viel. Aber das fliegen aller Lagen in Normalfluglage also die Basics habe ich da außer acht gelassen. Deswegen ist das rückwärts (Kurven) fliegen mein aktuelles Training. Was soll ich sagen?! Ich habe es mir leichter vorgestellt, als es ist. Ich wünsche dir weiterhin viel Erfolg beim üben und wünsche dir einen tollen Start in das neue Jahr 2025 ;) Liebe Grüße nach Polen, Joschi :)

    I'll never forget the first day I tried flying backwards.(long before sims) What u HUGE, terrible realization!! I assumed after learning forward banked turns, that I was done learning!! I crashed so fast!! Looking back on what I know now, I would strongly recommend incorporating backwards flight early on in training. It helps enormously when learning forward inverted flight. I didn't start it early and struggled. when you think about it, it's harder than learning the first time cause now you have to un-learn muscle memory!!! What a cruel thing we do to our brains learning this talent!!

    • @RCCopterLove
      @RCCopterLove 5 днів тому

      @mykel1969 Thank you Mykel! You experienced EXACTLY the same like I did. I was crashing as well in the first EVER backwards flying attempt and was so shocked how really difficult it was (and is) that I gave up! I was avoiding backwards flight as much as I could and did instead what I already could do! I am happy that I was overcoming myself and trained it every single day in the SIM and on the field. I wind, around freezing point! Now I know how bad this was and like you I will recommend every beginner to learn backwards as early as possible. It helps be so much in all inverted. I learned to "think" reversed and the muscle memory did the rest! It's sad that it was soo windy when I made this video. On calm days I was hovering half a battery inverted, so 2 minutes and just for relax went upright for a moment and then back to inverted! I believe that flying helis develops the skills or our brain like only view other things!!

      @mykel1969 Hi Mykel! My Blades have from time to time contact with bushes and other plants, grass because of my love to close to obsticals flying! I have to tell you honestly that I am a complete OMPHOBBY guy (and a OMPHOBBY Team Pilot, just to be totally honest). I have more than 15.000 (Yes, Fifeteen thousand) flights on 8 OMPHOBBY helis and never ever had a mechanical problem on one of them. All bearings, motors and parts beside crashparts like tailbooms, Blades, shafts and servo horns are the original factory parts. I have 5 M2's of all generations, the oldest one from May 2021 and all are in great shape. So I am a freak and NOT objective. I would go all the way for the OMPHOBBY M2 EVO MK2, because the new flight controller OFS3 gives you all adjustment possibilities you have on bigger helis like your SAB helis. Via Bluetooth you can adjust expert settings and make this little beast fly exactly the way you want it to fly! I know a guy called Sunny I Candy on Facebook who flies the M2 EVO MK2 with Mikado V bar. He uses a Mikado mini receiver. So my recommondation is clear! The new OFS3 makes the MK2 my choice!!

      @RCCopterLove No worries brother, I'm a camera op for concert tours and live broadcast so skin color is the first thing I notice. If your white balance is off then skin tones will be way off. On those phones sometimes you can chose what kind of light you're filming in. Daylight is different from warm light which is different from led lights.. Just gotta play with the settings but also make sure you don't have any kind of filters on. Even the 4 year old phones should give you a pretty good picture when the camera is set up nicely.

    • @RCCopterLove
      @RCCopterLove 19 днів тому

      @kmoe4696 Thank you for your question! On my M2 EVO's and all my M2 V2's (same flightcontroller) I was using for Elevetor and Aileron 9 blinks for speed (rotation rate) and 6 blinks for agility (like Feedforward). Now on my M2 EVO MK2 I set for roll and pitch 8 blinks for rotation rate and 7 blinks for Feedforward and it flies great. Rudder/Yaw I left on stock on both (or better all three) versions. As I received a pre production version of the OFS3 flightcontroller for testing I did not update the firmware yet. (Bluetooth module needed, this will come in my next vodeo!) Before I do this I have to reset my mentioned "manually" changed settings for the MK2 because already the latest firmware changed the flightcharacteristics. But right now the M2 EVO MK2 flips and rolls much faster than the M2 EVO and the M2 V2's. I will keep you updated! I hope this helps!!

    Thank you for all this information, Matthias. I have two questions: - Are the new skids also sligthly wider or is there "only" a color-change from black to white? - In the "old" M2 EVO, there was a S.BUS cable in the kit included. In the new MK2-kit, are there some cable included for the connection between the OFS3 and an CRSF/ELRS-receiver? I wish you merry christmas and a happy new year Reto

      @jupi-aladi Hi Reto! Thank you very much. The new white skids are having the same width as the black M2 EVO skids. So same mold for the shape. I really love their visibility now in the darker seasons. Regarding your second question I am not sure. I was receiving my upgrade kit to the M2 EVO MK2 version directly from our factory in China. It included the OFS3 Flight Controller, the MK2 motor, the swashplate with new geometry and the white skids. So I upgraded my second Orange M2 EVO to the MKII. But even my original M2 EVO in a sealed package from June this year did not include receiver cables. I am using FrSky receivers and the needed cables were always included in the receiver set. I think this was a VERY important and good video Matthias! I too, used the OMP controller and was flying the M1 and M2 on it when I started. And I still use it when flying the M1 and 2. As you said, it is a good beginner transmitter, and yes it does have quite a bit of dead band. The stick inputs seem delayed and you have to think a little bit ahead of the heli. I've noticed the Goosky transmitter is pretty much the same. It seems to have a little less dead band, but again there is a delay in the input. I like how you are stepping up in transmitters, and you are really showing that even though they're not the most expensive transmitters, they do the job well. Especially the newest one with the CNC gimbals. I really thought you would get the Radiomaster TX16S MKII next with the optional CNC gimbals, but I think trying different radio brands is a GREAT way to go as well. You had the help of an experienced FBL programmer to setup the M4 and the M4 Max, and like you said it seems a bit complicated, and you didn't understand what was really going on. I TOO have that problem. Since I fly fixed wing as well, as that's where I started in 2003, I learned to program those myself, and they are much easier than setting up a flybarless. I don't have ANY support where I live, to be in contact with someone "In Person" to help me with programming, so I'm using 2 other Heli flyer's instructions on UA-cam, on how to do it for my first time. I have the Goosky RS4 Venom all finished finally, using the provided GTS+ Flybarless system. I heard that much like the OMP M1 and M2 controllers the Goosky S1 and S2 are setup from the factory with all settings at 5. I've heard that this GTS+ from Goosky is NO different. So I'm counting on this to help with setting up the heli a little easier. I had to craft a small plate on the front to place the Spektrum DSMX receiver on, and it too is in place. I have to use a "Dummy Clone" Spektrum receiver in order to bind it to the DSMX satellite and it doesn't look hard at all. I'll be using my Spektrum NX8 to fly the RS4 Venom. I noticed both you and @RCHeliGuy are putting aways the larger birds until it gets warm again, and are back to flying the small heli's. I get it, it makes sense. Much easier on the wallet in a crash with the small heli's, so why risk flying with cold hands on the larger ones. Again, GREAT VIDEO my friend!

      Thank you very much! EdgeTX and Radiomaster was an endless nightmare for me because it was so complicated and I just never got along with it. Besides my EdgeTX Problems the Radiomaster TX16S felt much too heavy and too big for me. This experienced friend was having one and it did not fit with my hands. If I could give you a one friendly advise I would recommend you to bind the M1 and M2 as well to your NX8 (main radio). I guess flying helis with such different radios will confuse you more than it helps. I was trying my T6 RTF transmitter lately when my old radio broke. Because the RTF transmitter works with the OMPHOBBY protocol there is not only deadband. There is some Expo built in and this how you call it very well "delay". I am flying ALL my helis with ONE transmitter and this helps me big time. The helis already behave slightly different because of size an settings, but at least I dont nor have to get used to more than one transmitter. Just my 5 cents, please dont mind my comment. For sure every system change is a challenge at the biginning! But such is life - and that a grest thing because we can always grow if we want! Best greetings!!

      @@RCCopterLove I agree completely. I have 2 Radiomaster TX16S's, the MK1 and the Mk2. Don't ask me why, as I don't use either one. I liked the idea of Open/EdgeTX abilities, and I thought they might be something that would be the end all be all of radios. I too found them confusing when I was playing around with them, so now they just sit in their respective cases. The MK1 I decide to but the BLUE LED'S in it, as well as the leather grips. I REALLY thought I was going to USE the radios, but maybe in time I will sit down and really look into how to program it correctly. There are SO many other radios that are very user friendly, so I'll stick with those for now. I have the Spektrum NX 8, and I also have a Spektrum IX 14, and finally I also have the new Spirit Wave Radio with the W1 receiver. The Spirit Wave is going to be direct competition for the Mikado radios, and it has some features the Mikado doesn't. The one thing I love about the Wave is it has it's OWN built in flight simulator in it. Since the radio is still so new, they haven't added it yet, but once they finally officially release it, and the app for it, it will automatically install it, and and new firmware automatically. The radio feels GREAT in my hands, and is SUPER user friendly. Imagine being able to go to the flying field, and practicing on the flight simulator RIGHT THERE at the field, while having the Heli you will be flying right there as well. You will be all warmed up and ready to go and fly the actual model you just practiced on within 30 seconds to a minute after coming off the built in flight sim.

      @@AnythingEverythingRC-rc1yc Thank you for sharing my reflections to Edge TX. I once had the Radiomaster Tx16 in my hands but it was too heavy and too big for me. I did not feel this radio. Wow, You have a lot of radios! Today I spent another evening with my new FrSky X14S and with a tiny bit of help, some basic instruction I eliminated deadband and reducesd EXP to almost zero on my M2 setups. I love super direct response around midstick especially on cyclic. It;s so confusing to make tiny moves and NOT see the direct and proportional effect on the heli. At least for me. I spent 1,5 hours to experiment, made 6 point custom curves for Cyclic Roll and Cyclic Pitch... It was really not complicated!! This is making me very happy. I customized my TX for me. Display brightness, sound volume, exact battery voltage of the TX on display instead of the phone like battery capacity symbol. I found out all by myself. Something I never did on Edge TX. Wenn Sie ein gutes Radio suchen kann ich nur die radiomaster boxer mit den AG01 gimbal aus cnc Alu empfehlen. Das beste und hochwertigste was sie für ihr Geld bekommen können. Garantiert!!😊

      @tomkoller749 Hallo Tom! Ich bin mit meiner funkelnagelneuen FrSky X14S sehr zufrieden. Sie hat auch CNC Alu Gimbals, zehnfach kugelgelagert und soper smooth. Leider bin ich mit Edge TX nie klar gekommen. Das liegt an mir: Ich bin in Sachen IT und Programmierung total unbedarft und habe eine strake Abneingung gegen PC's und Smartphones. Die sehr billige Radiomaster TX12 MkII mit einfachen Plastik Hall Gimbals hat zwei Jahren lang gut funktioniert, aber hat dann ihren Geist aufgegeben. Das FrSky ETHOS System ist viel intuitiver zy bedienen. Sehr grafisch aufgebaut. Das hat den Ausschlag fuer den Wechsel zu FrSky gegeben. Beste Gruesse!

    Another great video Matthias!! Congratulations on the new transmitter! FrSky makes some awesome, quality radio equipment!! I have an X18 and two X20 transitters and they have all been flawless!!

      @rickhayes Thank you very much! I already love this radio! The gimbals are soo smooth! Of course for an old guy after flying with my old radio for two years it takes me a bit time to get used and to adapt. But it feels so good in my hands and the ETHOS syestem is so much better to understand than Edge TX!

    if you are doing a big loop you can do most of it by just slowly going forward and changing to positive pitch without pulling back much on the stick ....so in short fly forward give loads of gentle positive and create the first quarter of the loop with only a little rear cyclic...then more rear cyclic as it goes into the second quarter of the loop with also a mix of negative pitch this time as it is now approaching the top and is inverted....the exit of the loop is the reverse... try to slow the heli right down to nearly nearly no forward speed and try it...heli's are such a cheat of a toy as the blades never approach the stall unlike a fixed wing aircraft which you actually have to watch for stalls. The only stalls we get is if we fly with too slow of a blade speed and do an acute turn.

      @andyMSH700 Thank you very much for this great explanation! I was rather all the time afraid to be too slow entering the loops while going up! I will try all your tips. Now in winter in the Simulator because it's getting ungfriendly cold outside! Thanks again!

    you seriously had me fooled for a minute, then i thought no way...not from the M2 or M4 to this one!...then i asked myself is it electric and is this just the prop noise..well done...that made us laugh.

    You have prooven your flying skills in other clips before. Maybe it's time to build that dream of an scale model. Maybe at 600size, so it will fit your car's trunk and you could take it for a flight whenever you want.

      Thank you very much! To be honest a Hughes 500 would be my dream scale model. For me even a 400 or 450 would be enough for cost reasons! I wish you many happy flights!!

    I'll be doing my build of this Heli tomorrow. I spent the past weekend learning and configuring edgeTX (tx16s) & Rotorflight for the Radiomaster Nexus flight controller. Can't wait to get the maiden flight underway.

      @corionisme Hi and thank you for sharing! You made great choices! I wish you a pleasant build and then a great maiden flight! I will never forget mine, because it was the only second heli build of my life! Meanwhile, after almosr one year flying it, the M4 Max is my favorite heli because it's so powerful even with low RPM! Have fun and safe flights!!

      @r7_guy941 Hi! I am right now waiting for a new TX and it will be a FrSky X14S. She will hopefully arrive on Monday. My actual Radiomaster TX12 mkII was suddenly broken: I had signal losses and unfortunately 3 crashes with 3 different helis (and RX)... And the TX gives Failsave alarms... I never got to grips with Edge TX, so I hope I will like FrSky's ETHOS operation sytem more. It;s supposed to be much simpler to use! Please stay tuned! There will be updates! Best Greetings!

    Awesome! You know im all into that proximity flying!! Your progress is impressive! Im reading @rcheliguy's comment and yes it's starting to get cold here in Tennessee too, I should get one of these mini copters and fly in the garage this winter! so you like that M1?

      @RCCopterLove Місяць тому

      @mykel1969 Thank you so much, Mykel! I feel by myself that the control gets more nad more intuitive, like my helis are getting part of my body!! This feeling is pure joy!! I am flying my M1 all the time in my house! And i never scrached anything and I am flying in crazy tight spaces, throuh door frames, in the stairhouse. It's so much fun to fly precise and slow!! Best greetings, Matthias

    Very COOL Matthias! It's like you're using it as a FPV drone going over and under things. That takes some nerves! Great work! There have been a couple of times I got my M2's out a little too far and wasn't sure on if I was going to get them back to me safely, and there were power lines involved. I got lucky the few times I did it and got them back to where I could see them again.

    • @RCCopterLove
      @RCCopterLove Місяць тому

      @AnythingEverythingRC Thank you! It takes for sure lots of concentration and "disciplined" fingers. Yes, it's easy to let these small helis get too far away and then to keep the orientation is hard. If You almost dont see what they do, how do you want to control them. I have lost my sweet and expensive (because upgraded to CNC metal case servos) M1 Evo letting it fly too far wawy.... I never found it and learned my lesson!! Safe flights and Greetings, Matthias!
