I dont like the games as of recent but being one of the largest developers right now with multiple franchises doesnt exactly scream "finished" to me. This game can and most likely will be sub par. Hopefully it is a wake up call.

@@hiephiep12 It's not mob mentality that's the problem, imo the biggest problem with AC franchise and Ubisoft in general is how shit the game play is. I recently picked up AC odyssey which set in massive and beautiful greece and I couldn't even bother to fonish the game because the gameplay is so repetitive, unchallenging and boring. I heard it's the same problem with star wars outlaws (I haven't played that game before).
They will probably fix problems related to drama and ofc all the most noticeable bugs.
Can't wait to play both AC Shadows and Ghost 2, i hope there both amazing.

Your analysis is very solid. Studios get into a bad habit of the sales and marketing, not the game readiness pushing the launch agenda. An extra 90 days (over winter) cannot be significant other than bug cleaning. They may also be some next February who take the view 'let's wait to Ghost of Yotei'. The delay is good for the game but it's risky for Ubisoft.
I am still really looking forward to it… hope it’s actually good.

I‘m honestly a bit bummed. Was looking forward to Shadows and fall/winter is also the season where I love to get invested in an open world game. And, I’m probably not the only one. It’s just the season people spend more time inside. Also, every AC game launched in October or November. That’s been the tradition for 17 years now! ;D
The new release is almost spring and pretty packed as you said. I think, this will probably hurt the performance of the game a lot. The game must be crazy buggy at the moment to risk that.
Tradition? How about remembering where storyline was? Or removing the HP combat? How about those "traditions"? They themselves had admitted that there was nobody stopping them in developing new separate fantasy titles since Valhalla. But they couldn't even commit to restarting PoP, a legendary IP!

I believe the game needs more refining, and Ghost 2 being announced? I think they want to hold off a bit so Ghost Of Yotei cools down. Cause it’s hot right now and I’d rather save for Ghost 2 than Ac shadows.
It’s a good thing, Ubisoft putting out potentially the most polished AC to date is something I’m looking forward to.
We don’t want a unity situation, and a free DLC for pre-orders is all the incentive I need.
The Ubisoft redemption arc has begun, and I hope by Feb 12, we see it all in play.

The ubisoft redemption arc doesn't begun until they drop a good game. Not like all of their recent games are terrible, but they are certainly a waste of time and money.
Free DLC is all you need?
Surely you know how many bad games have had free DLC for pre-orders? Of course, doesn't mean that GOOD games never have pre-order benefits, but pre-ordering is never a good idea anyway.
There's a 90% chance this will be _fine_, just like pretty much every recent Assassin's Creed game, but there's no way Ubisoft suddenly changes their minds after Outlaws and suddenly starts making very good (or great) games.
@@stuffisfunsometimesconsidering every single ac is at minimum a 7, this will likely be good. And he meant he hoped they were stopping their monetezation practices. Ubisoft made a hard pivot internally around 2 years ago. Sadly after shadows had been in development for a while, but I wonder if these changes could be in line with whatever they changed internally. Hopefully we see these with future games.

What struck me in the last couple of months, was the fact that Ubi didnt release any marketing focused on the two characters that would entice players to play the game storywise. I mean what is the story even about?
Of course theres all the controversy around Yasuke and rightly so, but they did nothing to convince us that they are two well written chatacters, which leads me to believe they are both pretty poorly written.
Now 3 months isn't going to change that of course, and maybe they did have some trailers lined up, but I dont believe they have confidence in these characters, add all the Star Wars Outlaws issues to the mix and this game would have flopped hard.
Still think it will, but we shall see.
Delaying this game next year is worse. Not looking forward for 2025.

It won't succeed. Pre-sales are incredibly low and they won't go up just because of a delay. The game is another Ubiflop. They're just delaying the inevitably failure they created.

You just missed two of the most innovative games of the last decade, Watch Dogs: Legion and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. First is surprisingly innovative in its world-building. Second is stunningly innovative in its storytelling.
this game would have also launched with competing with a sister/brother game, as in a ubisoft game. Them changing the dates is mostly because they don't want to compete with itself. Also, it doesn't help that it's hired historical director for the game was someone that is avidly a revisionist historian (or at least comparatively). Ubisoft also is going to scratch as MUCH money back that it is losing.
It is GOOD they are giving refunds AND giving away the first DLC for free for pre-orders. this will intice some to actually BUY the higher end stuff. This will mostly be a paint-by-numbners AC game with SOME unique things, but not good enough. Ubisoft is Ubisoft and not known for being competent.
ALSO, it is odd they have not had ANY preview event where people got too really PLAY the game without being directed to do things.
cyberpunk was delayed too before its first release.
Cyberpunk launched in a broken state despite all the delays. A delayed game does not guarantee anything.
ngl, probably for the best, after outlaws underperformed, this game needs to be a hit, and the absolute last thing that players want from an AC game on release is for it to be a buggy mess, that would no doubt kill the game

I never thought I was ever going to say this but the backlash might’ve being a good thing, the backlash about yasuke was stupid of course but it was loud enough to make ubi more careful as they know each fans analyze their games with microscope this time, every bug , every error, every lazy padding, maybe it’s what we need, also they probably shifted because of ghost of yotei
Yet, this three months delay will still require internet connection to even install this SINGLE PLAYER game… I refuse to pay 70$ for a game I ultimately don’t own… WHY NOBODY pressures Ubisoft to release the game playable from the get-go?

I like Assassins creed as a franchise, but I hope Shadows fails spectacularly. Like Concord level. The absolute disrespect of using a black character to represent one of the most honorable titles in Feudal Japan is criminal. On top of that editing Wikipedia to suit your and Thomas Lockley's narrative. Bro wrote a 400 page fanfic about a black samurai from 15 lines of obscure text. Then using Chinese buildings, and symbols without permission? This game is an amalgamation of disrespect, blackwashing, money grabbing and dishonesty. Don't try and pass off the game as historically accurate to justify shoving a black character into the game to appease the western mob to then turn around and claim it's just a game when people point out the numerous historical inaccuracies.
Wow!! It's only taken 10 years for Ubisoft to realize releasing broke-ass games is bad for th e longterm business plan. Yeah they would rake in the cash for 3 days around the release day... and then..... sales would drop off a cliff. Again.

Haven't bought from Ubisoft since AC Origins, so i never intended on Shadows.
MGS Delta, Ghost Of Yotei, and GTA 6 are my top 3 games for next year.
I hope this game succeed. We should support all game studios. If these studios closes they wont be making any more games. All gamers should support game developer studios. Especially Ubisoft, because Ubisoft is a big game developer studio and they have alot of games under there studios. We should hope for them to succeed, not fail. We should hope for all game developer studios to succeed, that way we would have many games to play.
Honestly I'm so bummed out. I was really looking forward to playing this game. I'm so bored with the games i have right now 😂😂 Hopefully ubisoft will use this time to make the game better. Its hella expensive so it should have hella content and be good.
Japanese AC was my number one wish for so long, but this is the first time I’m really just going to wait and see what the reviews (especially yours Jayvee) say. I’m just not super optimistic. My number one game this year is actually Indiana Jones!

I am totally fine with a delay. They have put out enough games recently. I would like to see them put out a refined game that renews my love for the AC franchise.

5 months aint enough to change the whole game such as narrative or if it is fun to play from begining to end. This takes like a whole year to change course og game directors.

Delaying till next year won't make the protagonist japanese, so it won't matter.
Their last trailer even had swords clipping outside of the sheathes, floating characters, and stairs leading to nothing. They want to make money this time explaining the choice to release it on PC as well as consoles. Guaranteed nothing historically controversial will be changed.

Which is a good thing in my honest opinion. Ubisoft clearly want to make sure this game is in a good enough state that there isn't any backlash on the game itself. Preventing bugs and any other problems could only make the controversy worse. Hopefully Ubisoft delivers a great experience as I've personally enjoyed all of the AC games. None are bad and there are standout games in the series. Besides, we can visit Japan twice in both Assassin's Creed Shadows and Ghost of Yotei.

@@Dutchy4564 it’s not bad. Having lore is great. It’s when certain groups cry about it needing to be 1-1 with history. No game in Ubisoft’s past has been a historically accurate game, sure there were historical events or settings but even those were stretched. My question is why the hell does it matter so much here. I see people left and right crying about Yaske or whatever just to cry.
I’ve seen Japanese people come out and say this is the greatest insult they’ve ever been hit with and frankly if a game can piss you off this much imagine how mad the Koreans, Chinese and others are for the numerous war crimes the Japanese still deny from WW2.

I wouldn't mind the delay. If anything this gives Ubisoft a chance to rework the game. Surely they have received a TON of feedbacks, mostly the negative type and cultural type as well.
- Plants in the wrong season
- Chinese looking architecture
- Torii gate in a village entrance
- Stolen emblems and banners
- Probably not so accurate response of villagers to a huge foreign samurai
4 months should be enough to reworks these details. Update the buildings, modify some NPC animation reactions, remove plants in the wrong season. That wouldn't take much time. If they were true to what they were saying about having EXPERTS then this is the time to back those claims up, or fix their errors. If this game arrives with this issues still there then that will just prove they were lying about being passionate because almost isn't good enough especially when these blunders have been shown to their faces.
As for the parkour, well hopefully it would be better. But I personally think fixing the world to be more accurate will weigh harder than improved parkour because the criticisms are mainly in the depiction of Japan.
