I remember hearing this as a baby, I know people would think yeah right but it came out in 1975, I was born in ‘72 but I remember my mom playing it on the radio…I also remember other things at that time, which I wouldn’t bore you nice folks with. But that’s how far back I remember, lol.
I play this at work and have it on low. One of my patient's asked, "What you know about David Bowie, young lady"? I replied, "I can imagine Bowie and Doobie in my funk". We've been best buds ever since. RIP, Ziggy Stardust.
RESPONSIBLE INDULGENCE-age appropriate..Everyone that'll listen & process..I advocate ,and persist in asking them; " Have you seen seen his performance on SOUL TRAIN"?!..top 40's were an EDUCATION ..😊
rip Mr David Bowie he had alot of flair in style of clothes and music. and they used some this song as one of the the soundtrack in the next Friday I love it smile...
once you created another musical masterpiece, again it is as if I am enjoying the song again for the first time just as I did when I was a kid enjoying this song on my little rca transistor radio strapped on the handle bars of my Shwinn bike during my summer vacation
I JUST discovered you and your work...OUTSTANDING!!! A real treat for those of us who love music, both your quality and library are simply AMAZING! Im telling everyone in the world about you, and sending you a sincere kudos!!
golden years or maybe the title track, young americanos.or possibly lets dance or you could just tell this old man it's past his bed time. love your work nite/nite.
At the 2:36 mark, sampled by Public Enemy for their song "Night of the Living Baseheads" and the chorus was sampled by E.P.M.D. for their song "It Wasn't Me, It Was The Fame". Both came out in 1988. Regardless of how some dislike "sampling"? It just goes to show, how great minds think alike in showing appreciation for Bowie and this song!
one of my friends is a sound engineer/ editor and he has digital copys of master recordings from the board from this session and Queens "Night at the opera" ..... every time i visit i HAVE to make him take me out to the studio and well drink a beer or 3 roast one, and pull up these 24? track recordings where we can punch in and out different vocals, instruments, etc etc.. .it is absolutely a fucking blassst! You hear things you NEVER hear on the radio or in any headphones, incredible detail, pre-take and post -take back ground talk, joking, laughing etc... it is a glorious experience to be able to almost put your self in that room during these landmark recordings from such genius and hear every little tiny detail going on like they are in the room with you you can hear John Lennon and david talking before and laughing afterwards over something from that last take ... its just the best thing ever ;-) ... it is just truly amazing for any music lover and,.......... .. If you have the means,... i highly recommend it..... ;-)

This is why some people are cooler than others , the sounds that trip the Neurons of coolness .
Bought this lp in 1975 for this song & Young Americans & Right.
A wonderful lp the 1st release where Mr Bowie slid into the r&b sound.
