If you like Ginger Baker and want to explore, your head will absolutely explode when you listen to a band he was in with Jack Bruce (yes, THAT Jack Bruce), Graham Bond, John McLaughlin, and Dick Heskstall-Smith in 1963 - ~1966. Yup - before Cream, Ginger and Jack were making crazy bebop-Blues-Jazz -rock fusion with the madman Hammond organist and vocalist Graham Bond. The group was called The Graham Bond ORGANization, and I can not recommend highly enough their album "The Sound of 65". It is hard to find on streaming services, but there are cuts from it here on UA-cam. It is worth hunting down, and might just be the first Jazz-Rock fusion album.
Thank you Narvik i's great to have some Ginger Baker at last. It's such a great track. It's worth dipping into some Ginger Bakers Air Force.
You really should listen to Ginger Baker's Airforce, "Don't Care". The recording is live and a bit ropey, but the performance is stellar. A line up up of superstars in their own rights, all top tier musicians.
Ginger Baker ex Drummer with Cream went to my school in the UK.
I saw Ginger Baker at the Dakota Jazz club in Minneapolis a few years ago. Unbelievably good! He was with Ginger Baker's Jazz Confusion.

Say tomuzahn we? As a cornetist since grade five, the ear was acutely attuned, as the mind ranged to Mark Isham and Chuck Mangione's beautiful "Children of Sanchez"...the book and music of which will surely move you. Amazing that Ginger Baker would be behind this. RIP

The great Ron Miles on trumpet (R.I.P.). Perhaps best known nationally for his work with Bill Frisell's bands. You should check out the Ginger Baker Trio doing Ramblin'. (Trio includes Frisell -- pronounced Friz-ZELL -- on guitar and Charlie Haden on bass; Haden played on the original recording with Ornette Coleman....) It seems you guys were looking up the trio, which is not what this DJQ20 band is -- I guess you know by now! Also check out the first tune on the first James Carter record, "JC On the Set". I believe he was 19 years old, it's one of those A New Sheriff is In Town sort of announcements. Also definitely a jazz record.

I used to think that James Carter plays the trumpet, but it seems to be a baritone sax.
The album opener is more than 8 minutes long. Therefore, I chose the title track.
