Ugh, Vicki was so good!! A great example of how you don't have to add 100 new notes to make the song thrilling, you can just sing the hell out of what's there.
@@wrightyyAs much as we love to think so when watching these videos…this is actually not a setup just to record for archival or entertainment purposes. Depending on the musician and your visibility to the conductor, you actually get a small monitor/screen that has this live feed to help you and the rest of the band stay together. I’d suspect the drummer and rhythm section would at least have one for each person. Most 12-15 piece Broadway “bands” tend to have one for each person, especially if the band is housed in another room or building. But since Wicked has somewhat of an orchestral setting surrounding and facing directly to the conductor, not everyone will need one.
ok the ensemble at the end tho. that is probably my favorite part of the whole number. from elphabas riff at the end to the orchestra booming and to the ensemble coming in so strong your ears are buzzing from the harmony. god I love this show SO MUCH
yeah she's *REALLY* good. She was my first Elphaba when I saw the show in SF in 2009 at the Matinee of Teal Wick return. saw her 2 more times Black Friday (Natalie No Fly Act 2) '09 *AND* that following Sunday as well.
Here 3 years later to remind the world that your comment still rings loud and true. She was unbelievable; vocally and her acting was just heartbreaking.
This is a camera view of the conductor that is displayed on TVs behind the view of the audience. This is so that the performers can keep in time with the orchestra.
AWESOME job!!! you are so clear in your conducting!! as a fellow MD (only Am-Dram in the UK) I'd love to chat with you about some of your cues etc. I wanna know the theory and if I can pinch the ideas!! x
@@JamminjaredI wrote that three months ago. Needed some wicked in my life. Found this video. I don't remember watching it. Found my comment. You replied 3 days ago. Weird world. But with Wicked in it, it's a better place.
Yes looks like there are sometimes two or three vamps (four at one point) in a row, so he is indicating which one he is in. He also points his finger down as he exits the final vamp into the next phrase.
Some of the finger gestures right before the fly section are because there’s two separate bars in that underscore that can be repeated if necessary (if something is taking longer than usual). I believe that’s why for the second one there he starts conducting like it’ll be a repeat but continues after one time through

What an amazing professional conductor, he give's signs to orchestra, soloist and ensemble...he is really punctual...great job Adam!!!
I love how much fun he's having. Is he looking at the camera for us? Because I like to think so.

I love how he applauds his Orchestra at the end 😃

oh really dang that is so cool tell me more!
@@atcdude067 hi, super late. In my experience, these can also be placed backstage so that the rest of the ensemble can hit their cues as they sing too

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a piece conducted as well as this before. Superb and precise!
Even the cinductor is clapping after that. Bravo.
I'd just cry with joy every night conducting this.
This guy has the perfect job

@@wrightyy Yeah! Haha. How's your day going? It's exciting that the Wicked movie is coming out huh!
I wonder if it is possible to conduct this song without mouthing along. 😂 GREAT WORK!
Omfg Vicki fucking noon is incredible like it sounded like a proshot audio it was perfect
Intriguing patterns gestures and scooping of the baton at the tactus.
Are those “one, two, three” finger gestures for the vamps? It seems like that’s what’s happening…they loop a phrase each time he does the fingers.

This is so cool! Do you cue the end of the song or does elphaba? Are you cueimg the band and singers or just band?
Ok but this is an iconic performance from everyone involved, this band, this cast, this MD you guys are insane 💚😍

He's very handsome and expressive. Also really cute.
Who is playing the witches?
Vicki Noon and Natalie Daradich
Who is he?
From 8:14 to the end you can see her shadow in the light on the wall behind him
awesome!
Pretty good conducting... needs a better downbeat, so he doesn't have to mouth the work "one" all over the place.
