I think our society needs to reconsider mental asylums again.
Absolutely
🙏💯‼️
We should never have disbanded them in the first place. Ronald Reagan was wrong to push this issue back on the states without ensuring there was continued funding and a gentle pass off of responsibilities.
I've been saying this for years
Agree
This dude should NEVER be released to society! He's a danger to himself‼️
Yeah, but at the same time its not his fault and its terrible how they talk to him.
Don't release him into society because he's a danger to himself? Do you even think
I agree! If he's a danger to himself, he's a danger to society. The publics safety comes first! This guy is abusive to everyone he deals with, including his family. He's made his bed, let him sleep in it.

Prayers for your niece. A parole officer just lost his life by a sex offender that he was supervising during a visit.

When I was on probation, if it was a female agent, they'd send them in pairs to my house at 5am. They were pretty cute too, tbh.
Becare full last year 6 female parole officers in total were raped during home visits.
2 women to do the job of one man, seems about right
Some people need a halfway house and some people need the whole house .. this vato needs the whole house
😂😂😂 So true tho
😂😂😂😂 right right
The whole house appears to be where they are attempting to send him but there is no bed availability. I’ll tell you this, if that lawyer thinks it’s unlikely that there isn’t a bed in the State in a halfway house that will take him she has obviously never tried to find a bed for one of these persons. Long term beds are very few and availability is spotty at best. Halfway houses where the situation is less secure and the staff are not going to have the facilities nor the staff to deal with a non-compliant and aggressive client are going to be very reluctant to accept him.

For real. What did Lindsey do in her previous life 😂😂😂 Her Karma is very bad😂😂😂 Sorry ma'am
Man, I couldn't be a public defender, nor a jail guard. Wow.
I wanted to share my story that pertains to this exactly! I was a manager to a house where we rented rooms out. This is how I met a brilliant young lady. I took her under my wings like a daughter. During the first 6 months, I started chemo, and had become blind due to my illness etc..she helped me. So loving, no problems. It was on the 7th month that a switch flipped. This young lady suddenly thought I was poisoning her food and water. Then one day, after my chemo treatment, I was very weak and couldn't make it to my bed, I laid down on our couch. She had came in through the front door and charged at me, grabbed my hair, dragged me around the carpet as she punched me in the face, yelling a bunch of nonsense. For some reason, she suddenly let go. That was when I called 911. Thankfully, the DA in our county asked me what I wanted to do. I adamantly said that she needed mental health help, NOT jail time. So, she was ordered to be admitted to long term, inpatient mental health facility, plus a restraining order. She is doing better and has started college now. Jail time would've destroyed her. My point is, if we deal with mental health issues, then we would eliminate so many other problems.
My goodness, this was a true nightmare. She could have killed you. Bless you and the DA for helping her. I hope your better health wise also.

Thing is they are sending him to a mental health facility.
If everyone, including myself, had your empathy, foresight, and kindness, the world would be a better place.
I'm a caregiver for developmentally and intellectually disabled adults in Albany Oregon, I am on the street dealing with this population daily and I can attest to your statement, but there definitely is specific cases that must be addressed in a case by case situation.
Mr Newman seems agitated and paranoid. Whoever let him out on parole in the first place hadn't grasped that hewasn't ready.
So what your saying is... anyone that seems agitated and paranoid should be locked up behind bars?
Sounds a bit 3rd Reich to me.

Heres the problem though, at least in my opinion. In this instance he should've been put in a state hospital. This is very common and is a big problem. Prisons and homeless shelters are NOT appropriate for people with mental health issues! Not to mention how it puts others in danger and are taking space for the ones that NEED to have shelter and NEED to be put in prison.

Yeah we clearly need them. All it takes is a look around in the year 2024! Also, in this touchy-feely era it seems strange that we still use the term SMI (seriously mentally ill). Some of the behaviors can be from high or low blood sugars. They often stare off like a deer caught in headlights with low sugars and can slur words and appear intoxicated, confused. Often with high sugar they become aggressive. It's sad I wish he would take his metformin. He does have very clear mental health issues too. He needs hospitalized indefinitely not prison so he can receive the care he needs and keep the community safe. He's in a lose lose situation he needs insulin or metformin but because of paranoia from the mental health he is scared to take it.
i called for an ambulance one time for low sugars. because i was stumbling, had slurred speech, my youngest son thought i was drunk. the emt corrected him and told him my sugar was too low. on occasion where my blood sugar dropped very low, i experienced cognitive deficits: it literally made it much harder to think and my vision can get very blurry. i never experienced aggressive behavior with high blood sugar; not sure that happens, especially not 'often.' i did some research and didnt find that as a symptom.
@@rosemaryus-ct6151 my son has been a type one insulin dependent diabetic since the age of 7 and is now 32. He is always a joy to be around and I can tell you from experience high blood sugars also confuse but with my experience the effects are completely different than a low blood sugar. He doesn't get violent at all but his confusion during a high blood sugar presents a little agitation compared to the deer caught in headlights effect that low blood sugar presents. I am sure everyone has different reactions though. I am so glad you had an educated EMT because law enforcement do commonly arrest confusing lows with intoxication.

I’m not saying he’s not crazy or combattive or whatever but revoking someone for not taking a medication is absolutely absurd.

I am thrilled I do not live anywhere near this man!
So this guy has had his probation revoked, but will be ultimately “off paper” in a few months? (No probation or parole)
Now they’ve started using Commitment language to process him into a mental institution, where there is no end date.
I understand why in his early interview, he stated he would rather finish probation time in prison than go to a mental hospital. lol
As for the Insulin, my mom and I had to pull my grandma out of the hospital (she had a broken hip) because they continued to inject her w/Insulin.
(She was borderline diabetic & her GP had prescribed a pill). The pill made her very unsteady on her feet, she fell & broke her hip). So we specifically told them, NO INSULIN.
The injections made her completely incoherent.
I had to threaten the hospital w/my lawyer, before they released her to us.
She happily lived another 18 yrs, 89yr old, insulin free, by just watching her diet.
ok a little clarification is needed: insulin does not yet come in a pill; that solution is being worked on by medication companies. she probably got metformin from her doctor; it is the common first treatment for high sugars. it is not the same thing as insulin. if she had intolerable side effects i can understand wanting to stop a med. ur grandmother is very lucky that changing her diet made her sugars stable.

This is the result of closing residential mental health facilities in the 1970s. Now the prison system (a for-profit system) is filled with people better served by a mental health commitment rather than a stay in prison.
Instead of being placed in a facility where he can be treated the choices come down to imprisonment with inappropriate levels of mental health treatment or release into the community where innocent citizens are exposed to this obviously dangerous individual.
The lack of systemic competency is astonishing. It's now come down to a checklist with options that don't address the actual issues. Even this hearing is nothing but an example of pro-forma, fill in the blanks adudication.
This is the best I've read . Intelligent and true.
But the ones that were closed were the State ran tax-payer funded ones. The Private residential ones still are operating and have been for decades. It was to save money, same with the US prisons their now ran by Private corporations the difference there is inmates both work where parts of their meager .10 a hr pay goes towards their stay and the tax payers pay for their upkeep.

I work with mental health and prison is just definitely not a place for unstable individuals. He is not safe for community, however it is clear that he needs to be somewhere that is not within DOC. Prisons don’t care about mental health, in fact there are so many staff that specifically target individuals, as well as inmates. There is no point in him being in prison or halfway house, that won’t make anything better. He needs a specialized inpatient setting.
