i finely bought a 900 dollar scalped ps5 because of my need of the 120hz and other features for the games like vanguard and battlefield 2042. i cant get mine to do more than 60. i tried this but it still says 60. im using the hdmi cable from the ps5 (included) my tv is rgb 4k hisense

Ironic comment because this video is actually misleading. You can leave that setting in default and still select frame rate/performance mode in-game if the game supports it. The vid makes out that you have to select performance mode in the system menu for 120Hz to be available at all, which is incorrect.

I don't even want to get a PS5. If I do get a PS5, I'd have to get a new 4k tv capable of 120 fps. It's just not worth it.
@@KiLLED5639 Well, to truly unlock it's potential, you'd need a 4k 120hz TV, but you could also make do with a regular 4k TV since most games are targeting 60 FPS in performance mode.
I'm in the same boat - I know I'll have to upgrade my TV when I get a PS5 (my current TV is 7 years old at this point, and it's a 1080p screen), which is why I've put that plan on hold for now, since the economy is pretty bad and long term prospects are volatile at the moment!

@@Artixxl I'm not too into 8k TVs but like K C said, the PS5 is optimised for 4k at 120fps. With 8k 60fps is the highest and there's the problem of fps dropping.

I just got my ps5 and it’s been having problems where it lags on all the online games I play, but it doesn’t happen on my ps4, I saw a lot of other ppl online had the same issue with their ps5, i was just wondering if you are having that issue or know how to fix it since you recently got your ps5?
@@yoursensei6931 let me guess, new batch of PS5's right? They literally messed up by cheaping out on a lot of products.. so glad I own a OG version. Not having any issues. I had one issue with the SSD was memory leaking but after rebuilding the database it's been flawless.

Hi @John, if I saw correctly, you have the same BenQ monitor as me, the ex3203r. If this is the case, know that it is possible to have it updated by BenQ in order to take advantage of the resolution of 1440p at 120hz. I communicated quite a bit about this with them and my screen went to after-sales service this week in order to carry out this update.

Nice video, straight to the point no bs, it reminds me of me going crazy with my PS4 not displaying HDR and it was all down the fact I was using a crappy HDMI cable, once I switched to the included cable it started working, but it is difficult when every site and YT video just go around the bushes and the person giving the advice doesn't really know what they're talking about.
Lol they do it so that they get more minutes on the video .I guess it’s all about monetizing their accounts.
Make sure you also plug it into a 120hz hdmi socket on the appropriate monitor tv. I have an A80j Bravia and didn’t know this at first that there are certain hdmi sockets that will do this not all of them

Just to add some extra context, the PS5 HDMI 2.1 port is capped to 32gbps (not full bandwidth) which means you can do 4K 120hz at 4:2:2, not 4K 120hz 4:4:4 if you had full bandwidth. This means colour accuracy will take quite a hit when producing the 4k 120hz image on the PS5. 4:2:2 is half the colour of 4:4:4
I've had mine for over a year now. I'm not sure where you're getting your info but it's wrong.

@@garywderock its not its capped at 32gb/s the color thing is true look at your settings it will say something with yrbc or something like that thats 4:4:2 i dont understand why they promoted the switch to higher herts but made it tricky to work and will half your color accuracy at 4k wich actually wont ne 4k but upscaled 1440p bcs the ps5 is nowhere near enough to run 4k @ 120fps so ir would be better for image quality to just get a 1440p screen @ 120hz but guess what? No 1440p support lol so you’re either stuck with 1080p @120hz or fake 4k @120hz 1440p would be the sweetspot but sony is sony on xbox all these problems are non existing and even the series s has 1440p @120hz support wich i discourage bcs the same thing of the ps5 it will not run game at that res but upscale them so your stuck with 1080p wich is fine given the price

One thing I don't get is why some games don't let you use 120 fps mode even without a 120hz monitor/TV. On my PC, having 120fps is important even if you don't have a 60hz monitor because it reduces input latency. Does that not affect the PS5? Is the input latency the same no matter how much the FPS? It probably depends on the game, but I have a feeling that input latency would be better with 120 fps, which I think is more important that the smooth buttery feeling of 120hz.

It's gonna be hard to find a monitor that supports 4k and 120 hz refresh rate rn, best to look into TV's. Try TCL they make really good TV's for their price. I think they have a 55' QLED for under 500 on Amazon right now.

@@Freddo1 depends on the HDMI slot and the supported frequencies. If it's 4K120 certified at least then it will run 120Hz, you can't go by just the frames or Hz...

You can still change the graphic modes in-game while having this setting set up for the ps5 right?
Performance Mode is the way to go! Set it to that from Day 1. Got a TV thats 4k120 compliant. Make sure to set the HDMI format on the TV to enhanced as well. All games not capable of 4k120 will just be downscaled to either a lower res or framerate.
Pretty sure only a few TVs currently support HDMI 2.1 which is required for 4K 120 right? And they are all $700+. Is there any benefit for someone like me who's playing on a regular 4K TV to change this setting?
Your current 4k tv should be able to do 4k/60, 4k/30, 1080p/60. Most games right now run at 4k60 or lower, and currently the ps5 cannot output 1440p/120. Getting a hdmi 2.1 tv right now will enable you to play the very few games at 4k/120 or 1080p/120. I'd say hold off for now until Sony starts making more titles that run at 4k/120.
@@fiyahblaze8732 yeah thats what I did i just upgraded from a 1080P to 4K and decided to go with a standard one for $300 that only has HDMI 2.0. All the ones that I saw with HDMI 2.1 are on the luxury end at like $800-$1500 so once those prices go down and 4K 120hz becomes more normal ill probably upgrade again

Great info to know. HDMI 2.1 isn’t super worth it rn as there isn’t many games at all supporting 120 hz 4k. Hell there isn’t a terrible amount of games that support 120 frames, so the number of those that do 4k alongside it is even fewer

It’s also worth mentioning that in some cases even if your screen supports 120Hz, it’s not through its’ Hdmi port (, rather DP usually), so be sure to check Hdmi port version when buying a new TV/Monitor.

I have an ASUS TUF Gaming monitor than is capable of running up to 165 HZ. I use the HDMI cable that came with my PS5 and I enabled every setting you said to enable, my games still will not run at 120 HZ. I’m not sure what to do

Check ur monitor settings. Something along the lines of Game Mode should be there to enable. Or i have an Asus Rog Strix and on the settings i have the image>HDR>Asus Gaming HDR. So I cap at 1080 @ 120. Hope this helps.

I recommend you play Astro’s Playroom first. It comes free (pre-installed) with every PlayStation 5 and it’s a nice demo for the DualSense controller.

1st thing you do is turn off the voice over when you are done setting it up man you will know what i mean when you hook it up, also make sure when you turn it on be there that only is on there once you will know what i mean when you see it. it's when it first loads for the very first time. i dunno if it's been fixed someone can tell me if it has but it was said that safe mode was bricking consoles i dunno if that still is but just to be on the safe side don't do it i don't

What monitor do you have? I was able to get a ps5 yesterday and now I'm looking into monitors for it
You don’t have to change it. If left on default the game will automatically send 120fps refresh rate if the in game settings is set to 120. For example, mine is still set as default but if I play destiny 2 and enable 120fps (from in game settings) for crucible, it will automatically switch to 120.
