He said it was actually a happy accident that Animal Farm fit so well with the lyrics and that they didn't really have that as the focus until they started working out the video and realized how well it all fit together.
He may have said it had nothing to do with animal farm but with all the animals in his videos that I can't help it doesn't reference George Orwell novels. It's blatantly clear with all these animals in his different videos that even if it's something that is not conscious is most definitely subconsciously the idea of a wack society. Just listen to some of the words and his tracks like the hunger
The basic premise to the song is that people always have a desire to overthrow their oppressors and always think that they would do a much better job than whoever they overthrow. The problem is that many times the new group/party/system ends up being just as bad, if not worse, than the one it replaced. Animal Farm by Orwell explores this idea and what happens to people when they wander down that path. The animals end up eating their own at the end.

In an interview he just recently said that the song originally really just was about flexing - and only gained meaning when they started to think about the filming of the video. That's when the connection to animal farm, clockwork orang etc came in. Sometimes the art you create is much bigger than you understand during creation.
If you look closely there is a human head in a bird cage swinging above the pig. Ren is the lord of the animals and king of the cannibals so he and the animals both eat the humans. It's like the lead guy from clockwork orange read the book animal farm and attempted to interpret it. Another great reaction Britt!!!

He put references to the book Animal Farm, Clockwork Orange and a bunch of other details. But he said that sometimes he just likes to have fun with a song that doesn't have to have a complex deep meaning and this was one of those. But when they made the video they went all out with little details and references that they felt could relate in a way to the theme of the song. That is just what I heard Ren himself speak about in a couple interviews I've watched. He actually just released an acoustic version of this song. It is a live one take video on a moving bus. He does all of the beatboxing and plays his acoustic guitar. I thought it was dope AF!! After reacting to this version I don't know if you would want to do another reaction to that version of the same song, but I would 100% be here to watch it if you did. I think you nailed it with that it's just going "ape". From the interview on Knox Hills channel he kinda explained it was a bit of a flex song, then he thought of the Animal Farm concept for the video which brought another level. At least that's how I remember the interview. At first it was just a talking sh insane thing he came up with from playing some tom drums
okay, since you asked for the discussion in the comments, I read through the comments below, and most of them touch on themes that are pretty easily identified: Orwell's Animal Farm, Kubrick's The Shining and Clockwork Orange, and some Willy Wonka. The Mary had a little lamb bar could be taken as a direct reference to animal farm, or a double including generally people being led like sheep. Ren mentions in his interviews of late that reviewers/reactors are identifying potential themes he hadn't considered, so I would leave room for the subjectivity factor ren intends to create. My take: it's a populist message, and Ren is against corporatization, greed in government (and perhaps the music industry?). If he's saying he's the cannibal king in charge of the animals leading them to burn the houses of Parliament down, I think what he's saying is that we are all animals at the end of the day, or at least can be, and he's going to be leading the push for the many over the few and elite. Just my thoughts after having watched this oh, over 100 times 🤣
Well thought out comment. Also, I think the sheep lead on a leash by the dog was another reference to a Kubrick film: Eyes Wide Shut. So many references that it made it fun to watch it over and over.

Have seen some recomendations for his cover of I Shot the Sheriff, you'd find that under the band name The Big Push. But be warned!!! There are two videos - one of them he's wearing red suspenders in the thumbnail. You gotta see the red suspenders version or you will get all kinds of grief for picking the wrong one lol. That one is actually a medley of I Shot the Sheriff, Road to Zion, Through the Night and Hip-Hop. It will blow you away, the engery alone is amazing!

There is so much Orwellian overtures in this song its uncanny Animal Farm, Snowball and Napoleon over throwing the farmer and set up their own society, the rules for the animals at the beginning of the video, only to find as time moves on that they end up exactly the same as their human captors did is a fantastic story of power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
I think that all of his music is cleverly designed to have to be listened to multiple times to get it all. By the time we all do that, it's stuck in our head. Clever indeed
