Here's my take on it. SackMan represents the Money Game (the power structures which embody so many of the problems that Ren talks about).Ren is a torturer/executioner who intends to hold the SackMan/ the Money Game to account for the harm it has done. Ultimately he intends to destroy it. The mistake he made was to draw eyes on SackMan - it is much easier to attack someone/something when it appears faceless and you have no empathy with it. The eyes on SackMan's face have "humanised" him and when Ren sees those eyes looking back at him he realises that if he destroys it, he will destroy his own humanity. From there Ren decides there is only one option, to destroy himself (I could be completely wrong but that is what it says to me)
That is the best explanation that I have seen by far... Who knows what his intended meaning was, but that does fit in well with the message and the video...

I think Ren's self immolation is a nod to the Buddhist Monk who did the same thing in protest at the corrupt venal South Vietnamese government during said war.

By setting himself on fire, the monk embodies his vows in the most powerful way he can. By doing it in front of others, he hopes to awaken those who don’t recognize that they too are living in a burning house, and that they must find their own way to quench those flames or to escape.
This is of course the great thing about Rens songs, they hit at a personal level so the meanings become unique in various ways to each of us.
A full analysis on the music video for Pt. 1:
The kidnapped individual was a 'defendant' in a 'trial' with the psychotic Ren accusing him and acting as Judge/Jury/Executioner. Ren's character, through the song, goes on to explain the individual's crime: being part of a money game - a twisted game where people are divided and suffering for the sake of wealth. People who are willing to exploit their peers get ahead, and other are forced to do bad things for survival.
Each time he gets close to exacting punishment and killing his victim, he stops to continue explaining more ways we twist our lives for that wealth. He even symbolically draws eyes on the head sack to signify that the victim isn't blind to it: the captor has 'opened his eyes'. He has no excuse and deserves this punishment of death.
Finally, with one final attempt to do the deed, Ren's character realized the futility of what he's doing. Looking in the mirror, as per the lyrics, he is also part of the money game. And so, he puts aside his holier attitude and burns himself to death instead.
As he said, as assuredly as the whole world turns while playing this game, the whole world burns as well.
Now you have to do Money Game part 2.
Something I taught my kids awhile ago is that not one single person on this planet asked to be here. That being the case, there's always a contingency that thinks their existence is the most important. Money always seems to be right in the middle of it too.

The lines it's easier to blame, but point the mirror at ourselves we're all part of this old moneygame; is a clue to the eyes on the sackman who he's about to incinerate, then sees himself reflected in sackman's eyes and the rest follows to the ending.

I feel like ren is the powers that be and we are the sackman. We stop when told and go when told. We are being tortured by them always and once they do something so heinous we now have our eyes open and we see them and they see us see them they self destruct. Just my take. Loved your reaction❤
The song is called Money Game and the guitarist (representing the unaware) and Ren (representing the aware and the part of society that wanna hurt / exploit the unaware) are taking a part in the song and in the money game. Thats the reason why Ren isn't playing the guitar himself and the guitarist is not passive. He says that we should look in the mirror and don't hate or blame others. He draws eyes on the guitarist face cover and make the unaware aware (mission of the song). After that Ren considers burning the guitarist but reconsiders (after he looked in the mirror) and take a step back. Now where all people are aware he sets himself on fire to destroy the part that wanna hurt / exploit the society. (He says in the song Sick Boi that he thinks the world is sick - this song is the cure for the sickness).

You have such a beautiful soul and I just love your reactions to REN, Your comment on REN's music changing people just compelled me to comment; personally I think REN is awakening people's soul's because I've been watching a lot of REN reaction video's and when I find someone like yourself I subscribe and binge on all their "REN reactions" and in saying this you can definitively see a change in so many reactor's as they go down the REN rabbit hole, many seem to be a lot happier and respectful of themselves and others, I too have noticed a shift in my own attitude towards everything in life and then also coming into reactors worlds such as yourself, whom add your own insights and contemplations from your own life experiences; especially one's like yourself whom have retained so many childlike quality's. Your anchor point has been well established for a long time, unfortunately for many of us; we have anchored ourselves to the wrong thing (or as you've said person) thus losing a lot of ourselves as we were battered by the storms of life without a secure anchor But this is why I say REN is awakening people's souls because they're slowly awakening to who they always were before life got in the way. Thankyou again for sharing yourself with all of us because even though you're showcasing REN, it's your perspective and reactions that compel people to watch, otherwise I'd say REN would have millions more views on all of his work. PS: Many of us watch REN reactions "not" for an entertainment value (although who can not say, REN is entertaining artist) but for different perspectives and also as I said before watching the awakening happen over such a broad and diverse range of humans, many don't even realise they're awakening; Hence REN's entertainment value with such intriguing messages inside every piece of work, that seep's into even some of the most closed off minds, well not closed off per-say just not looking that deep into the meaning/lyric's of the music and just enjoying REN as a Great Artist.

I'm not gonna go on a crazy long explanation... hopefully😅 I think Ren in his green rain poncho to weather the "Storm that comes our way" is a symbol for the wealthy and corporations who control the "Money Game". The dude tied up and head covered as if blind to the real money game, they may not realize they are a part of this money game or that it is even going on represents regular society that is used and manipulated by the wealthy and corporations. Kind of how he chose when the guitar was played and how he basically treated him how ever he pleased. Then when he put the "eyes" on the hostage it was kind of like society starting to realize what is going on, kind of like our eyes are open to the corruption and how we are being taken advantage of by the powers that control everything. Then the answer is not to burn the society at large, which is why he stopped before pouring gas on the hostage. The answer is burning down the corrupt system that has us all held hostage by the few who horde all the wealth and rig the system in their favor to keep the power and money. So he pours the gas on himself. And the hook, "Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain, The Storm it Comes Our Way.." I think means people are starting to recognize how rigged the system as a whole is and has been forever and that MONEY fuels that greed and hypocrisy. So a "Storm" could be society fighting back to try and make things more balanced and fair. Which as much as I want that, I don't know if it is possible on a macro scale. The system is too deeply corrupted already, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try. But in realizing that we cannot forget our own role in the "Money Game" so we have to take some responsibility ourselves. But the biggest problem is that corruption, greed and complacency has become normalized. And we have to be aware and breakdown what we have been brainwashed into thinking is just how things are.. Rich people are rich because they are just the smartest, hardest working, etc.. Meritocracy is an absolute lie in America. Not saying everyone who has become mega wealthy hasn't worked really hard and isn't smart, but the top 10% or 1% or .001% have spent a lot of money over many decades, even centuries, to rig the system so that they remain wealthy and the poor remain poor. Their companies can't run and produce the goods that continue to make them mega wealthy without a lower class willing to work for pennies. So they buy our governments and rig the rules from the inside so that technically they aren't breaking laws, they just bought the politicians who made the corrupt laws that they are following that just happen to keep the money at the top. I could go on for hours about this but I already broke my original promise that I wouldn't leave a super long comment😅 Hopefully you read this Britt.. or anyone does lol But that is just my quick thoughts(yes, I'm aware of the irony of the word "quick" lol) Love your Ren reactions!! I think the mask represents all of us and how brave we are when we are anonymous. In the end, we are all to blame for the empathy and the distortion of the truth. I was born during the Civil Rights movement, and I remember it from my youth. In high school and college, it was multicultural awareness that abounded. Today. I feel like we are reverting and are in the midst of a new segregation - one that has everyone finding fault in anyone who is not them.

Since you asked, I have a slightly different take on the symbolism of the bound person, I could be wrong, (have to ask Ren), but I think the bound person is us. I mean seriously us..... I feel that this represents him using his influence and talent to both captivate and enlighten us..... which is why during the "assault", Ren drew eyes on the sheet. Money Game 2 explains the "game" more, I think, perhaps the first is to illustrate his approach to enlightening us? and Part 2 describes the actual game. Who knows, we need to ask Ren what He thinks..... perhaps He will tell us. I love what Ren is portraying with his art.... I'm just doing the best I can to try and understand it.... I might be failing.... I think Ren is a genius.... but again, I might be wrong..... if so..... He's got ME buffaloed completely. I've enjoyed YOUR content for some time now Britt.... I just wanted to contribute what I thought.... and to thank you.
In regards to the immolation, I'm old enough to remember the Monk immolating himself in public protesting the oppression of the South Vietnam government that we, (as America), was supporting..... it was a horrible time.
If my first comment is true, then perhaps Ren is immolating himself to protest OUR oppression and subjugation?
Who knows?
"Freedom of Speech", well that has been bastardized as well.... the 1st Amendment guarantees the right to peaceful protest of the Government without fear of undue reciprocity..... It has nothing to do with inflicting speech upon others.
