My stream chat appearances: 3:56 - 4:02, Yeah that’s it. If I had a nickel for everytime i’ve appeared in a KLEJ video for less than 20 seconds i’d have 2 nickels which isn’t alot but it’s weird it happend twice.
I had this game for the Wii back when I was younger. No other movie tie-in game that I ever played could match the faithfulness and charm of the original Cars game.
This was one of my absolute favourite games as a child and I will always remember coming home after primary school, playing Cars on the family computer until my parents came home for lunch, hoping they will be late. Thanks for bringing the memory back to my mind.
If you liked this game and were impressed at how good it was for a movie tie-in, you should check out the Speed Racer game. The Wii version and PS2 versions are pretty damn good, they're not story based at all but they're definitely some of the better F-Zero clones out there imo
The Wii version is motion controlled vs. conventional controls on PS2 if that affects which one you want to go with. There was also a pretty good Nintendo DS port, solid game all around.
There were actually a handful of video game characters made into diecasts as part of the “story tellers” collection back in the late 2000s, Bubba from Race o Rama as well as some of Maters cousins were made.
I loved this game as a kid. Fun gameplay, music so good that I can still vividly remember a few of the tracks, and just pretty well made, especially compared to other licensed PS2 games. I remember the hub being pretty open, and I would spend a lot of time just driving around aimlessly. I'm sure that if I played it again today it wouldn't be anything to write home about, but it's a good memory.
I find it hilarious that not only did you not start with the first game, and not only did you not do it early on, but you didn't even save it for last. It's just unceremoniously thrown in there before the last Cars games you're going to do 😂👌🏼 Thanks for the video, and the streams! Having the video occasionally cut to your live reactions works well
I LOVED this game as a kid. I also deliberately slammed into rocks and things and had my favorite spots on the map to get as much air as possible. It was like flying and wiping out was hilarious
Hey man, gotta say that you’re one of my favorite small creators on youtube. Love your cars videogames reviews, looking forward for your future uploads!
Yknow, a pet peeve I have with Cars games is that they never let you have the full roster of cars and a lot of them are NPCs, like, I want a game with the full Radiator Springs residents as racers, like I get it for certain characters with larger bodytypes but still
By far my and a lot of my friends favorite game of our childhood's. Loved it so much my friend and I jokingly speedran it for awhile, turns out there was a active speedrunning community around it and so we joined it. Funny thing is right when we joined my one friend broke a world record that was thought to be unbeatable off camera and nobody knew how he did it lmao. He ended up getting it on camera and has held a few WR's here and there. We were even in a GDQ retro weekend stream for this game where I co-commentated for him. If you want a fun game to run, give this one a go. There is a surprising amount of skill needed to use all of the speed manips and glitches.
Not just the best cars game but one of my favourite games ever. I played a ton of this as a kid on the PS2, it was great, being able to explore radiator springs in an open world, it was awesome. My favourite part was the sarge boot camp, that was an awesome way to tie in all the mechanics you had to learn throughout the game and test your skills. Great game, highly recommend it to anyone
I've been touching this recently on the Xbox360 (mainly because of the marketplace shutting down this month) in Hard Mode (IT'S TORTURE IN THE PISTON CUP RACES). Still is one of the best childhood games I grew up back then. The physics is annoying, but this was in the mid-2000s. There were few amazing Physics engines in existence yet. I am shocked that they re-used it for Race-o-Rama, though (as we had open-source ones like PhysX at that point). BTW, that was an amazing photo finish ( 8:01 ) As for why it's not on the PS3, I think this is why. Not only because it costed $599/£425 (or $499 if you got the 20GB model in the US) for that console on launch back then, but also because it made creating games/ports extremely hard at first. That's also probably why Incinerator Studios made the PS3 port of Mater-national.
This game along with toy story 2 on the ps1 gave me so much nostalgia when I was younger. If there was to be a remake for a movie tie in game, this should be the one.
This game is also my favorite Cars game and it was also in my childhood (and also on PS2). This was my first game ever I remember I completed 100 percent and it was awesome. Cars really has an important role for my gaming life and it's also one of my favorite childhood games ever. That's also counts for Maternational which was my first DS game ever. But I also played the PS2 version and even if it's not as good as the home console versions of Cars 1 it's still a great game and has also some nice things which I never saw in other Cars games.
@@KLEJGaming Yeah and I also have other Cars merchandise like some school items for example. Cars was the first franchise where I was a fan of and I'm still a fan from this franchise today.
The 1st game used to keep me hooked for HOURS. Not gonna lie; it was pretty fun. I used to turn off the music in the game so I could play music from other racing games (never liked this game's soundtrack much). With that said, this game needed way more challenge. Aside from one of the oval tracks, the Cars game was far too easy at times. I get that they were trying to make the game manageable for little kids, but 4-year old kids can handle challenging games. Hell, I was able to enjoy racing games like Daytona USA, Need for Speed, Gran Turismo, and Ridge Racer when I was in grade school. Those are much harder. With that said, this is the only Cars game I played. Didn't like how the THQ sequels failed to improve on the 1st game's gameplay, difficulty, and physics, nor did I appreciate how every Cars game after Cars 2 was just a Mario Kart clone without the cool open-world aspect of the original 2006 title.
1:22 Sadly, the game is not cannon. Cars 2, and especially Cars 3, very much contradict them being in the same canon. But I think Cars:The Video Game, Mater-Nationals, and Raco-O-Rama (and maybe The World of Cars Online, not exactly sure about that one) form a sepere canon together, since the games reference eatch others
How do the games contradict the movies? The only thing that comes to mind is McQueen's headquarters from Mater-National... Is there anything else contradictory about the games?
@@sparklingbee_ That means Cars 2 and 3 contradict the first movie, because near the end of the first movie McQueen mentions his plans for setting up his racing headquarters in Radiator Springs, yet we never see it in the sequels. If anything, the video games are a more faithful continuation of the franchise than the official sequels. I'd like to know what John Lasseter was smoking when he thought up Cars 2. _(was probably too busy SA'ing women to care lol)_
I think that this was one of the first Xbox titles I've had in my life, ever since I was a kid. Too bad that not only I couldn't complete it when I was younger (well, it makes sense since I was just learning how to play back then), but the disc where I played the game is scratched and probably unusable so I can't play it anymore. Shame since this was one of the games I played in my childhood (again, one of those that I didn't manage to beat back then) and it could've been pretty good to try again. Oh well, guess I'll have to see if it's available to buy on the Xbox360 marketplace before it shuts down.
I love this game so much, I personally prefer the PS2 version better than the xbox 360. Great music, sounds, collectibles , story, attention to detail, voice actors. The definitive sequel to Cars
PC version isn't that bad there are few graphical glitches but that's it, it never crash (unlike Mater-National) and my save never end up corrupted and I played the CD and Steam version and both work fine at least for me
Imagine if the cars 2 and 3 video games were like the THQ era games (relatively realistic physics) rather than just a mario kart clone. I think that would have more potential
8:05 Not that anyone cares but that chat message about this game's German version having the original movie cast is wrong. Some VAs do return but some like Lightning's and Chick's got replaced.
I was watching your stream on Cars Mater National just now, and I want to know something, why are you skipping the cutscenes? It's not fair if you don't watch the cutscenes, the cutscenes are great they're not that boring.
Sometimes I don't have as much time as I'd like to get through the games so I was skipping them, I stopped doing that so much during my Mater-national play through as you are right
Personally I want to like the game but the wonky physics and clunky controls haven't aged that well. Mater-National is basically the same game but it doesn't feel as bad if that makes sense. I like a lot of the ideas such as the open world and if y'all like it that's fine, just know that I personally don't enjoy this one

2:30 Actually you can backwards drive and tilt during Piston Cup races, you just can't boost or powerslide

1:46 That joke will never get old.
Correct
That moment when you realize that Cars: The Video Game is a better sequel than Cars 2.
It really is, so is mater-national and Race-O-Rama
I find it hilarious that not only did you not start with the first game, and not only did you not do it early on, but you didn't even save it for last. I've seen a lot of conflicting information on that
