    Your tutorials are extremely helpful for beginners like me. Thank you very much. While using 7000 grit on the convex side, is it OK to use lower grit slip stone or sand paper on the concave side to remove the burr?

    Mary, thank You for Your videos, I'm really getting into carving because of them.:) Now I was wondering how did You actually shape Your slip stones. Thank You for sharing. :)

      Long time to comment but rubbing them on a diamond stone is an easy way to shape slipstones

    I know a cheat :-)
    Sharpen a soft pencil. 4B or so.
    Point the two ends away and draw the pencil gently back and forth until it fits the profile.
    It should turn the bur when you push it gently forward ( listen for bur)

      +Dave Clarke Interesting idea. I'll have to try it. So... the lead is used as a slip stone once it fits the inside profile? Very clever! Thanks!
