    I played a Euphonium in a Military Band when I was 16 ~ 18; I'm 73 now and haven't played since I was 18 but still love the tone of the Euphonium. So melodic.

      One other thing. If you have access to a tuba you could Try playing it - with a full-size tuba mouthpiece. This will keep your lungs and musical brain active, without aggravating the trombone mouthpiece ring inside your mouth That gets bruised by braces. Good luck!

      I play French horn and am learning euphonium, but when I had Mt braces removed the tone quality sky rocketed, it could have something to do with not having a flat surface between your lips and your teeth, but when they're removed you won't have to worry about tone

  • @alantaylor6691

    It's certainly a nice instrument. I often sit with my cows plus Mr Bull at night and play your solos on my phone as they like slow measured simple low-toned classical music. I was trying to search for music like that and this is what I found. They seem to enjoy this piece in particular, they listen to it calmly and attentively. The other night when I put it on one of the 2 yos got real affectionate as she came over and started licking and bunting me with her head lol. Slow euphonium solos seem to be good music for cows. The pieces aren't that long so I keep repeating them over and over for them.

    • @Matonizz
      @Matonizz  3 роки тому +7

      Thanks Chris. With quiet and slow stuff what often happens is we start to move our tongue very slowly. It should be vice versa. It usually happens when players can't control tongue movement separate of air movement. Don't be afraid to over articulate when playing soft. For as long as you supply steady soft air to will sounds like a clear attack rather than sharp and over articulated one. Hope that makes sense :)

    My son is starting learning Euphonium. He is ten, he played baritone for two years and this year his teacher told him to learn Euphonium, anyone know why?

    • @Matonizz
      @Matonizz  7 місяців тому

      Euphonium is a much more widely used instrument than baritone for both chamber and solo playing (assuming your son is actually playing a British style baritone and not a three valve euphonium which is often referred to as a baritone in US). My guess is that your son has physically grown larger to where euphonium is not too big or heavy to hold and play and that's why it was recommended as a step up :)

    • @Matonizz
      @Matonizz  3 роки тому

      Thanks Oliver. Beard not so much, mustache takes time to get used to but I do trim it a bit to not get too much in the way. If your used to sealing lips mostly through mouthpiece contact (pressure) then it can be a bit of a problem but otherwise just a matter of getting used to really :)
