- What a beauty! This rare, vintage COACH Messenger 9100 is one of the nicest ones I have. The inside creed says it was handcrafted in Italy from the finest French calfskin. It took some elbow grease, but it cleaned up very well. Watch how I restored this gorgeous purse using tried-and-true leather restoration techniques.
Honestly being in a society where every 5 seconds we are buying a new item, it’s good to see that someone has used and loved one bag so much. Although I loved its antique look the way it was. Great work though. Thank you for sharing❤❤❤
At first glance it looks like good work but in reality she just painted a bag with shoe polish. This is not a restoration, as the leather would actually have to be re-dyed to guarantee long-lasting quality. Shoe polish doesn't last long and rubs off on clothes. It's kind of sad that someone seriously thinks this is how to restore a leather bag 😆
Supplies used: 100% horsehair brush, Avel Savon Cuir Lisse Leather Soap, Saphir Creme in 05 Dark Brown, and Brasso.
I will start buying pre-loved bags from here on. I just realized how I like the time I spend conditioning and treating used leather, it's so calming.
You could have gotten the white spots off the back using a proper cleaner or remover that would work on whatever it was. It appeared that no attempt was made. Even going down to bare leather would have helped. Using a sanding block will refurbish and remove stains from suede interiors, also adding a liquid dye to water will help restore color allowing you to use less Saphir product.
I love your work, I work in a second hand shop in geneva switzerland, and usually I took some things to restore instead of dump them. I do it just because I like it, and then we sell it, I just do it to give things a second life. I took many ideas from this channel , Thanks Lyssa...
New color but the leather is still dry.
I was surprised when you didn't fully submerge it before restoring. It looked like the poor bag had been put through the grinder. I still think that nothing compares to vintage Coach handcrafting, they don't make them like this anymore. The snap closes beautifully. Good job Lisa. Enjoy!
I just got one for $25 in decent shape
Hi :) amazing work!! I have watched a few videos where you soak the bag and some you use saddle soap. How do you know which process is best?
These videos are self explanatory. Thanks for not talking! Excellent clear closeups.
Another awesome restoration! Thank you for sharing with us Lyssa!
Love these rehab videos! And love Coach & Fossil bags. Keep them coming please 👍🏻💛🇳🇿
Beautiful job! I wish I would have kept a bag that was looking even worse than that one. I had no idea where to even begin. I considered dyeing it but I have never dyed leather before. Now I know exactly what to do. Thank you so much.
This turned out beautiful!
Stunning! You did a beautiful job.
I am glad you shared this technique of leather restoration. Thx!
So satisfying! Beautiful restoration.😍
I super enjoy this, I have a vintage bag where I need to touch up the leather where it had cracked been real nervous about it. You make it look so simple.
so glad to see new videos 💕
