      Minority isn't a good thing; it means parties have to work together to do get things done but usually very little gets accomplished as a result. Politicians usually opt to just have a second round of elections hoping a majority government will be elected and everything will work itself out.
      The only really hope for a functional government is the NDP and Liberal party working together, but it probably won't happen unless the Liberals give up building a pipeline (which is unlikely since they really want to save grace in the west) - or the Liberal party working with the BQ, although I have no idea how that would work out.

    Happy about this as a Canadian and for one reason. The Scheer camp basically resorted to 'Trumpian' tactics slander, disinformation, and lies. They may say it wasn't us, but it was their job to police their campaign. We are not American. What is currently going on in the US is damaging their very democracy.

    • @rebeccabigwest
      @rebeccabigwest 5 років тому

      You vote for a local MP, who will hold oneseat. However, each seat (there area it represents is called a riding), represents a geographical area. Some ridings have more voters than others, and therefore, their individual vote counts for less. For example, in P.E.I., there are four seats representing an area of roughly 170,000 people. In Alberta 170,000 people have 1 seat. So, the popular vote is pure numbers, one vote for each person, whereas the representational system we have now means everybody in Alberta can vote Conservative, like 3 million people, but it's only 17 seats or something. The 3 million people voting in the 905 hold closer to 27 seats. Fair? Nope. Make sense? Nope. The popular vote tells you that more people who voted don't want Trudeau for pm than people who do. But he got more seats, so we all get to bend over for 4 more years.

    Watching this has an American I’m confused and intrigued - so many questions. What is the block? What is the People’s Party? How do we get minority parties like the Green Party to have at least some representation in our country? Are your campaigns as visceral as ours?

    • @oddassembler
      @oddassembler 5 років тому

      A 'state' in Canada lost a 49-51% referendum to seperate from Canada a few decades ago. People who still hold that sentiment form the basis of the separatist bloc party, a party that seeks to only further the interests of its own state.

    • @oddassembler

      People's Party is like what trumps followers r down south. Just a party that scapegoats minorities in order to pander for votes. They got 0 seats this election.

    • @oddassembler
      @oddassembler 5 років тому

      Our campaigns only open up a few months before the election as opposed to yours opening up more than a year in advanced. They are relatively tame compared to yours but candidates still throw lots of misinformation and smearing is becoming more prevalent.

    • @frankbombaci4977

      E=qual thanks, woah, that’s intense. A whole Province tried to succeed? In America “blue” is liberal and “red” is conservative and it’s the reverse in your country, why? What’s MP?

    • @oddassembler
      @oddassembler 5 років тому

      A majority government means a single party won enough seats to be able to pass legislation independant of other parties. A minority means that no single party won enough seats and the parties have to work together and agree on issues before they get passed (which doesn't usually happen and it's more likely a deadlock results on any given issue). In America, it's a winner takes all situation so getting green candidates represented is near impossible unless a green candidate somehow takes over one of the main 2 parties

      Ontario voted Bloc Québécois? :-P that’s not true. Eli May, Scheer & Trudeau are zionists warmongers. Voting Conservatives is what Alberta wants but they don’t think as they have no clue of what is going on in the world. First priority of Conservatives was to move Canada’s embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Is that a Canadian priority or more an Israeli priority? They are all crooked (all parties) except Bloc (not because they are angels but because they don’t seek power). So until population wakes up about who those parties are , about how Canada is supporting regime changes elsewhere & doing wars to innocents under Nato, it will stay alike. Canadians are asleep, well fed by propaganda ….
