    I'm so glad I am watching this in the comfort of my mosquito and bison free condo. And glad you made it out without any unwanted mishaps. Canada is a huge country. Most of us Canadians haven't seen a fraction of it.

    The music starts and it’s another Tyler & Todd video and… no, wait, it’s Tommy & Peter playing T&Ts music intro as they travel into the tall and majestic Canadian Rockies… swamp? Bison territory; no, mosquito territory. The joys of tent camping with wild creatures threatening them in the dark; almost like camping out in Central Park in New York City. Hope you had fun guys! Next time take the bus. (I.e. a 40’ diesel-pusher motor home). lol

    A most interesting video. Looks like your Canada vacation will be a good one. Amazing to see a swampy area in Canada. Looks similar to the ones in Louisiana only the trees are different with lots of Spanish Moss hanging from the tree limbs. The mosquitos are the same, they are everywhere. When outdoors here, one keeps mosquito repellent handy. Really interesting that the Bison just sort of roam around without bothering anyone. I use to do some camping a few years ago. Here we have many parks and campgrounds in the state with quiet a diversity in topography and wildlife. It is interesting that one of your subscribers, Stephen Stewart lives about ten miles from where I do. He mentioned the Atchafalaya Basin, which is a wonderful swamp area. The area is contained by levees to prevent flooding. I live about five miles from this area on the southern portion of it. Looks like a great start for your vacation and am looking forward to seeing more. Take care, Tony.

    • @tommyandpeter
      @tommyandpeter  2 роки тому

      Thank you Tony. We were also a bit surprised to learn that there are swamps in Canada because previously we'd only known the beautiful mountains. The mosquitoes were crazy but we were excited to be there so it wasn't a big deal and luckily we had bug spray 😁 Good to hear there are also camping opportunities where you live. So interesting to find out that Stephen lives so close to you, it's a small world. There are a lot more videos coming so stay tuned 😊

    What an exciting day you guys had. It was a little creepy hearing the bison breathing in the dark. But unless it would of gotten hooked up in a tent line. He would not of paid you any mind.
    Make sure you two check for ticks. Where you have a lot I f wild life, there seems to be tons of them. They carry lots of diseases. Have a fun time , but be careful.

    • @tommyandpeter
      @tommyandpeter  2 роки тому

    Great Vlog guys! Loved the sound of the Bison breathing, very interesting. You are so fortunate to have had such nice encounters with them. In Wyoming, USA where my mom lives they are very common even outside of Yellowstone National Park. There is a city near Casper called Thermopolis where they just roam about freely. It is truly a majestic experience to have. I was so fascinated by the swamps there at your camp site. It reminds me so much of the swamp here in Louisiana. Just next to us here in Breaux Bridge is the Atchafalaya Basin (Swamp) and there are parts of it that looks just like that. I had no idea that Canada even had them. Super fascinating. Your camp site looked so peaceful and that view, just lovely. So glad you guys are having fun on the trip. Can't wait to see more. I hope in the future you guys will get to see both Wyoming and all it's majesty and Louisiana and all it's charm. I am sure you would have fun in both places.

    Welcome back to Canada 🇨🇦 boys. Sorry about the mosquitoes 🦟 I live in Ontario and love camping ⛺️ but the 🦟 !! However in a week or so they begin to disappear unless the the weather is Hott (late 20’s c or 30 c !and above definitely) 🐻 Bears are an issue = food security. Do Not keep food or things like gum or treats in your tent is best. Hang it on a near by 🌲 🌳 tree 👌

      Hello, we loved it in Canada, camping is fun 😁 We know that it is forbidden to keep food in your tent, you have to leave it either in your car (in the trunk) or there are special boxes for it in every camp.

    An excellent choice for a vacation for two nature lovers! The Canadian Rockies are spectacular, and Canada is one of my favorite places. I like eastern Canada and the maritime provinces the most, but I'm not as adventurous as you are, and I like historical sites, museums, shopping, beautiful hotels and fine dining with ocean views. LOL! I also like traveling by train, and the train journey across Canada is one of the finest in the world. Maybe when you are senior citizens and need to cut back on your hiking, you can try a train trip?

    I want to eat the nanaimo bars right now despite its unhealthy ingredients. They must be delicious.
    I'm going to hide my gluttony behind the saying
    " what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger"
    Bisons nearby. Scary experience. Luckily they only eat grasses and seeds. If not, they would have eaten two crispy pretty boys. Ha ha.

    I really give you guys credit for the amount of time you spent in airplanes to get from the Czech Republic to Calgary. Not to mention the drive on the busy Deerfoot Trail going north out of Calgary - in a car that is not entirely familiar to you. Plus, carrying all your stuff, in the rain, while being harassed by mosquitoes, to a spot when you might be mugged by bears and trampled by bison. In other words: Welcome to Canada! Well done!!! Looking forward to the next video! 💖👍💪

And the mosquitoes were a nightmare! You guys were absolute troopers! I think I would have been a bit reticent about sleeping with the bisons, however. I’m with you, Peter! Ultimately, it was fine, however. I was a little surprised to see you eat ravioli cold out of a can. But hey, as Tommy said, as long as it has calories, who cares how it tastes! Peter commenting that when you guys are on holiday, your food choices are not always healthy. I think that’s probably true for lots of people when they travel! When hiking in terrain like that path, I always would find a leafy branch and swish it around myself. Not perfect but it made a difference. Of course I was never carrying a tent or trying to film my walks. We do not have wild bison here in NB but my husband and I have come face to face with a bear which turned and hurried into the woods and once when I was alone a bear followed me for a distance before turning off the path. On another hike in the same area I got quite close to a coyote - because I was downwind it could not smell me and did not recognise I was human until he was very close.I thought it was my dog coming to find me so he sensed no fear (which is of often a trigger for a canine attack). As soon as it knew I was human it bolted into the woods and I saw it really was a coyote...exciting times!! I am looking forward to following you guys on your adventures and wish you a wonderful vacation in Canada.

    Your experience with the bison reminds me of when we were in Costa Rica. The tour guide said, "Look! There in the top of that tree is a sloth."
    So, since the sloth is my spirit animal, I get excited, "Where? Where?"
    "Way up there at the very top."
    "That little dot? It looks more like mistletoe to me."
    "No, it's definitely a sloth."
    Nevertheless, it was still better than an encounter with a bear.

    • @tommyandpeter
      @tommyandpeter  2 роки тому

      Haha, it must be extra hard trying to spot sloths since they don't move much!
      The bison were not that far, but camera makes everything look farther unless you can zoom in.

    Great vlog guys. Don't think I could cope camping with all those mosquitoes and bisons. Just wondering how Tommy's brother ended up moving to Canada?

    • @tommyandpeter
      @tommyandpeter  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you! It was definitely an experience, luckily the mosquitoes (and bison) didn't get into our tent 😀
      It's a long story about Tommy's brother but in short he was young and not afraid of anything, he wanted something more than a regular 9 to 5 job in Czechia, so first he tried London and later Calgary where he stayed until now and has a family 🙂

      In that case you would never step into a Canadian forest 😃 It seems they have bears everywhere! It made us nervous, but fortunately it wasn't our first time in Canada so we already knew what to expect.

      @@tommyandpeter one totally random question.How did Monika managed to dye Peter blond without getting even a hint of orange or red.I am planning to dye my hair.but my hair is darker and I am afraid dying it on the lighter tone but also to a darker tone because i am afraid in finished red or ginger anyway.So tell me please what is Monikas secret.Since she is dying herself also ?

    • @tommyandpeter
      @tommyandpeter  2 роки тому

      There was a hint of orange in the end, mainly visible when I was inside (maybe by artificial light). I don't know the secret how Monika does it but I think there are also special colors for dying your hair to avoid the yellow/orange tones. Or you just have to dye it more times. Anyway, good luck Dora and don't forget to tell us how it turned out 😁

      Thanks Jake! It is a very nice country though not very safe in the wilderness because of all the wildlife (bears) but if you know what to do it's fine 😀 Otherwise it is amazing and it seemed quite lgbt friendly, you are right 😊

    I have to laugh cause I live on n New Brunswick Canada and it compares to Alberta and Calgary. We have no bisons here but we have moose, deer, foxes , wolves, bears and she places caribou. I don’t think bidon are vicious unless attacked and they must be accustomed to tents and people in the area you were. I would be much more worried about bears cause they smell good and will rip apart your tent to get food.

    • @tommyandpeter
      @tommyandpeter  2 роки тому

      We wouldn't expect a bison to act aggressively for no reason either, but we thought maybe he didn't know we were in the tent and he could get scared or something. Same with bears, we wouldn't expect them to attack for no reason. Storing food inside tents is forbidden (for a good reason) so we knew we were safe from curious/hungry bears 😊

    The bison are magnificent. They attack tourists in US all the time. But only str8 ones cuz they reek of higher testosterone. (That is only partly a joke). I think Edmonton is closer to the pole than you live. So the summer days are longer there, and winter days are shorter. Btw, did not know Chef Boyardee is still around. We parted company when i went vegan many years ago. Altho he helped me thru many dark, cold nights in my childhood, if i saw him coming now, i would cross the street.

    • @tommyandpeter

      Sounds about right about straight guys reeking of testosterone, haha 😂😀
      We don't know much about Chef Boyardee, it was just a random choice in the store but good to know you would cross the street to avoid him now. You made us laugh, thanks 😁
