Agree 100%. Road King is the classic bagger, I have 2021 RKS. Stripped , classic profile. Just bike and road, I do use Bluetooth however. Way different ride without windshield. Not for everyone, but is for me! Enjoy your content!
Everything suggested I needed a road king yet the heritage softail is what I felt best on. I felt cramped on the king as the floorboards were higher up and had my knees all bent up. 2016 heritage has lower floorboards and further forward. Way more relaxed and comfortable on it and I’m 6’3. The heritage is like sitting in my favorite recliner
When the video started I gasped. By the water is one of my top stopping spots on my bike. I live in Millard and ride all over those areas you rode in this video. I've been thinking of getting a Road King and found this. Stay safe out there, brother!
That’s awesome! That is probably my favorite picture spot for sure. If you do get the Roadking you will not be disappointed! We have a local meet up coming up in June if your interested here is the link. facebook.com/events/s/gpmm-2023-great-plains-moto-me/1620120975105757/
Love the Road King. I have a 1998, the last year of the EVO. The King is perfect for commuting to work, highway cruising, back road riding, and everything in between. I too really enjoy riding without the windshield. Living in New England, I do have it on early in spring or late in the fall when it is on the cool side. But otherwise I ride without it all summer long. I took out a new M8 equipped RK and it was very impressive. So I have been thinking about it but have yet to pull the trigger. The 98 is sill running well and it is long paid for. Enjoy.
I always see your stickers at that turnout, nice little spot for a break. Love my RKS for precisely the reasons you listed (except obviously for the chrome)
I had a 98 Road King EVO as well. Of all six Harley’s I’ve owned, that Road King was my favorite and I regret selling it and buying an Electra Glide to this day.
2001 RK with a hot rod 103 my brother had built before I bought it, only had 3400 miles on the engine build and I’ve put just over 12k miles on it in less than a year with no fairing windshield, and put almost 11k miles on my 01 Honda Shadow 1100 before that with fairing or windshield! Love it!
The 2003 Road King Classic, 100- Year Anniversary Edition, is one of the most elegant, stylish and archetypical Harley-Davidson motorcycles ever produced and forever etched in HD's rich history of motorcycle designs. The 2003 Road King Classic, as is with all Road Kings, is the personification of a Harley Davidson.
Road King definitely has that classic cruiser styling! It's been over 20 years since I've ridden a bike without a windshield. Now you have me curious, maybe I'll get to a demo event and ride something without one.
I have a ‘21 Road King & I’m considering trading it in for a Road Glide. Love my King but I also love the look of a Road Glide. Gonna test drive one first. If I keep the king, I’m putting a stage 2 & change the exhaust as well
It’s hard to beat the looks of the leather bags for sure. I think Viking bags makes some leather bags that will lock but they still don’t look as good as the stock Roadking classic bags do.

I had a 1998 Road King. 155,000 miles on it when I was crazy enough to trade it in for an Ultra to give my wife a better ride (she no longer rides, i got rid of my big baggers for an old Sporty. Love the light, agile bike and no fairing or windshield. Anyway, that 1998 Road King was fought over by 2 HD techs. The guy who got it rides 40 miles each way to work...Road King is an awesome bike. Love how you can strip off that windshield for sure.
Put about 1000 miles on my first road king. Its a stage 1 07. I put big spoke wheels on it. Love them it tracks a corner much better. Was looking at the ape hangers that come with the controls. Not sure if they are junk or not got to do some research. Where yours a complete kit or?
Mine were installed by the dealer before the bike was put on the showroom floor. I have done some bars that come prewired and have the new cables with them and they are by far the easiest bar jobs I have ever done.
What brand apes are you running and what height? To ask what height are you. Just bought my first King and apes are the very first thing going on it. Thanks.
@Stevy Faux I appreciate the really quick reply dude. I'm 5'11 and had 18" Carlinis on my softail and I felt they pulled the shoulders out my sockets at times. I think I'll go with 16's for the King. Somehow I can't bring myself to go lower than that 😂😂 apes for life. Thanks again dude. Appreciate the reply. That's a beautiful machine you got there.
i've had ultras but the road king is the one for me. after riding 35+ years i just can't find anything better. mine is a black 2015 flhp that i bought with 1500 miles on it.....i've blacked it out, went to RKS fenders..... rineharts 2:1 and a thundermax...legends suspension front and back......best bike i've ever had or ridden.....the tune with the thundermax makes it a little rocket. side note-is your bike a 2012 big blue pearl? I had one of those and sold it when my little one was on the way....I've regretted it ever since.
My wife just bought me a 2005 Road King Special for my 40th bday two weeks ago. I really don’t know what the difference is 😂. Your bike looks like mine. It’s my first bike ever 🤷🏽♂️. I do need to buy a windshield though. Just so I too can have that option to take it off, or put it back on. So far, I love my bike. Still getting used to her though. We live in Florida, but from California. It’s weird to say. It’s been very cold lately out here. It just warmed up some to take her to work, so I did🤙🏽.
Yes I have. Both of my Roadkings are Rushmore frame bikes. I have ridden both the Roadglide and street glide’s with the Rushmore frames. The fram makes all the difference. Rides very good.
I’m the same. Road King is the best. I hate using the windshield as well. However there are a few times it’s handy. Also if I want music I have a great Bluetooth system in my helmet.
The Only Harley's I've ever owned. Had 3 of them so far and absolutely love the wind in my face and the feel of the King!

I agree. I don’t see myself buying anything other than a roadking.
My Road King is an 04 with the little 88ci motor, I'd love a bigger motor I'd love locking bags, but my leather bags make me happy.

Love the sound of that bike. What motor and what exhaust are on it ? Just bought an 08 and need pipes for it.
This bike had the 103. It had the Rush Racing eco head pipe and screaming eagle mufflers.

Once you get off the wind shield you have to leave it somewhere else, or it does fit somehow in some luggage?
No it doesn’t fit in luggage. I’m sure you could find a way to bungee it to a bag or in between a couple of bags if you wanted to.
