    I have one I have to replace the valve on as well. I like the "quick fill" you did, that will definitely help. Sitting there with an air chuck sux

    Purchased this exact tank a couple years ago and used it once. It sat for over a year before I decided I wanted to try to make it an aux tank for my 6gal compressor. Imagine my surprise when I found the plastic knob was broken, and NO ONE in town carries repair parts. Had to order a new manifold from Amazon (which I did before I found this video)... :(

    The 7 gallon aluminum ones are clearanced at HF right now. Just sayin'
    Already bought mine and I'm thrilled with it. Super light and holds 140psi.

      Thanks for the heads-up. Our HF here has the aluminum 7 gallon tanks clearance priced at $49. The 11 gallon is currently $10 more. I suppose if you need a smaller tank for space reasons, it may make sense to get the smaller tank. Thanks for the heads-up.

    Very informative, thank you. Question about the quick fill adapter, does the 18 piece compressor fitting kit on Amazon have everything needed to make that quick fill adapter too?

    • @ScubaMoto
      @ScubaMoto  Рік тому

      Yes it does. It also includes one quick connect that already has a threaded connect on it so no need for a coupler and less time with the Teflon tape. I hope that helps.

    I've had one of these portable air tanks for years and have always struggled with the plastic handle on the valve before it completely let me down on a "tire emergency rescue" of my wife yesterday. Your video is right on time, very well done, informative - simply perfect! I'll have that tank resurrected within a short time of having that valve delivered. You are da man!

    I really like your work on this tank, I really like your quick fill setup, safety wise one could connect everything and then charge the fill line from a distance. I've been looking for the right valve to make my two tanks better and working again.
    Thanks

    for a small portable tank that i am using to test my pneumatic set up, i made a one lit. tank, but used mini ball valves to pressurise the tank. i missed using NRV pressumed that ball valve will do a good job of holding the air by me manually doing the shut off.. To my dismay, the valve did not do the job. NOT SURE Why Ball valves are mis behaving. should we use a regular ball valve that i see in garages alternatively. can you throw some light for me please. thank you.

      I'm surprised the ball valve failed but there may have been rating issues or defects. There are ball valves specifically rated for high air pressure but size and cost are often an issue. I only recommend the compact combo valve units as they are well suited to the portability of the tank and the way these tanks are often used. The replacement mini combo valve I show in the video has been holding up well. The original valves that come with these are terrible and mine lasted less than 6 months. Good luck with it.

    any hints on now to remove a stuck main or manifold value that wont come loose from the tank threads......... thank you

      Penetrating oil is most likely the best choice. Let it set overnight. If that is still not enough then there is likely rust involved. If there are signs of rust, I would choose to recycle it all. Tanks weakened by rust are known to blow. Good luck with it.

    Just curious if after completing this upgrade does your tank hold air or leak down? I have the same tank and with the factory equipment it won't hold air for more than a day. Thanks, and great vid!

      You're welcome. I'm glad you liked the video. You just wanted to see if you could get me to go out to the shop and check the gauge on my tank. I just did and the newer valve is still holding pressure well. The original valve did far worse than just leak down. It finally got so bad that it wouldn't even open all the way and it wouldn't shut off. So I had to just leave it on with the inflator plugged on. I felt bad for uploading the first review/upgrade video before discovering just how bad the original valve was. The inflator and the quick connects held pressure better than that original valve. Thanks for watching and for the question.

      Use soapy water sprayed on it to see where it's leaking then address it
