@@clueless6763 I just found out after all this time it actually was edited, this particular video... I thought it was so good it seemed fake, but it actually is
It's the subtle things that makes it so great - like the way the camera is still "moving" when Attenborough's clearly paused to make it look like he's not paused. Awesome!
I want to buy a ;lyrebird just to teach it the Seinfeld theme song now and maybe something cool like an Oingo Boingo song, and the iPhone / Android ringtones and text tones. Would be great fun.
Sen Sama Same, It's not poorly done, but it's a joke. Who would be playing heavy and expensive instruments deep in a forest? Who would be singing the opera deep in a forest?
Sen 千 the bird is absolutely capable of reproducing those sounds and instruments. In fact, there are other people who bring their phones play some songs and the bird copies them verbatim. The camera sound is not edited, that is from the original footage.
The Lyre bird is not like a parrot it can actually pick up some sounds after only hearing them once, At a zoo in Germany they were remodeling and the 2 lyre birds started immediately imitating the skill saws and hammering and the work men talking to each other, They also learn from hearing other so sounds one might learn can be bouncing around the forest for many years. by many birds. To the doubters out there look up the actual facts before you criticize!!!
I bet if you put speakers in the forest, they would repeat it. You can find pet birds that mimic tunes all over here on youtube, tv show themes quite commonly.
That's all it would take? A bird imitating the theme song to a tv show? Oh. I'm committed to nature because nature has infinite ways of taking your life away and making your body disintegrate into nothing, as if you never existed at all, and not because it hates you, no, because IT DOES NOT CARE
The thing I love most about this is that it doesn't seem like somebody else edited this together afterwards. It seems like Attenborough and his crew conceived and executed the 'alternate take' themselves. =]
I can say that this video is true as i was at a zoo once with Lyre birds and they could mimic ALMOST every sound they heard except very high pitch ones like screeches don't know if they can but it was fun to hear one say : Shake that butt over and over again. Still remember that day from since i was a mere lad.
I'm from Australia and the lyrebird has the most elaborate voice of any bird in Australia and yes it can copy a human voice to that extent, but the fact that it trold David Attenborough by copying his voice and then pretending that it wasn't the lyerbirds doing has gone and cracked me up laughing 😆😂😂
I would teach mine how to say stuff on cue. I would teach it a lot of songs and test answers, that way if I snuck it into school on a test day and secretly let it run loose around the classroom, with a flick of my pencil or something, that way he'd/she'd shout out the answers to the whole classroom. :3
Look up "lyrebird" on here, the first clip is the original one from BBC. They can do upwards of 20+ different species of birds' calls, car alarms, and even the sounds of chainsaws cutting down trees.
ive seen this hundreds of times over the years and the little sigh he does at 1:10 when the bird interrupts him again will never fail to the be the funniest thing i've ever seen
best video ever, watched it 20 times and still makes me laugh, so funny how david gets irritated by the bird and the bird whistles like ' it wasn't me' :)
12 years on this is still one of the funniest things on youtube
only took me 13 years to realize it was edited
I agree 🤣🤣
Indeed! hahahaha
@@clueless6763 I just found out after all this time it actually was edited, this particular video... I thought it was so good it seemed fake, but it actually is
Completely. 🤣 PML every time.
I lost it on Seinfeld. The bird trolling David at the end only added to my sides hurting
I know! So perfect. Guess it's actually a MOCKINGbird.
Ok, so the songs are obviously fake, but is the whole thing fake?
@@brightnight1372 camera shutter is real
Haha, he's better bassist than most of the youtubers
@@brightnight1372 lol
Whoever edited this has perfect comic understanding and timing. :::tears from laughing:::
Seriously!
waverlyflams
i wish i could forget this video and watch it again to laugh as hard as when i first saw it years ago
Alexandre Hamada Possi im with you! XDDDDD
+Alexandre Hamada Possi This is the first time I've seen this video, I'm dyyyyyyying!
+Alexandre Hamada Possi i laughed soooooo hard!! i was crying
+Alexandre Hamada Possi I just saw it for the first time just now and the tears are still rolling down my cheeks!
Good old times
It's the subtle things that makes it so great - like the way the camera is still "moving" when Attenborough's clearly paused to make it look like he's not paused. Awesome!
woah i didnt even catch that detail... superb editing
the sienfield part got me fucking hard.
+Fat Dickenson We had a deal with the birds!
+Fat Dickenson I know right? I don't even need porn after this!
After watching other videos on Lyre Birds, there is no doubt if you played these sounds to it, it could recreate it easily
Make it recreate Man's Not Hot
I want to buy a ;lyrebird just to teach it the Seinfeld theme song now
and maybe something cool like an Oingo Boingo song, and the iPhone / Android ringtones and text tones. Would be great fun.
Why can't UA-cam give us great stuff like this anymore?
Be the change you want to see.
I died when he was trying to explain it and the Seinfeld-like theme started playing... or being sung...
I couldn't breathe. XD
What is the deeeeaal with David Attenborough? He goes around checking out the wildlife an' talking about it on the TV!
GmodPlusWoW maybe the same deal that we do, who go around checking out the videos and talk about it in the comments section!
Rafael Oda THE GOVERNMENTS ARE COMING! GET OUT YOUR TIN FOIL HATS!
hntrofdmads ;). (◊)_(◊).
Now that I watch this again, I can see how gullible I am.
Sen Sama Same, It's not poorly done, but it's a joke. Who would be playing heavy and expensive instruments deep in a forest? Who would be singing the opera deep in a forest?
JohnnyBoy98
I thought the same. You can also see the editing when he turns to the bird then turns back to face the camera.
Sen 千 the bird is absolutely capable of reproducing those sounds and instruments.
In fact, there are other people who bring their phones play some songs and the bird copies them verbatim.
The camera sound is not edited, that is from the original footage.
You just have to see the funny side.....
千Sen its not fake dude its a real bird learn your animals
trolled by a bird and then rage quit lol
Lmaooooooo the way it chirped innocently when David spun to look at it was too perfect 😂😂
Wise-ass bird...
😂😂😂
But it does make you wonder what would happen if you actually put a CD player in the forest with the Seinfeldt theme on repeat for a week or two.
It probably would start mimicking it.
PewPew Kachu Thanks captain obvious!
Somebody needs do this. Hell I'll put it in my thesis if I must.
It'd probably be a proper Roadside Picnic scenario.

*runs through the jungle with a boom box playing Rick Ashley's never gonna give you up to rickroll the scientist in the future
I'd do it!
normie
Rick Astley. Not Ashley.
OH GOD IF BIRDS ACTUALLY DID THIS I WOULD COMMIT MY LIFE TO NATURE
A Lyrebird could solo Beethoven's 9th Symphony after hearing it a few times.
I bet if you put speakers in the forest, they would repeat it. You can find pet birds that mimic tunes all over here on youtube, tv show themes quite commonly.
That's all it would take? A bird imitating the theme song to a tv show?
Oh. I'm committed to nature because nature has infinite ways of taking your life away and making your body disintegrate into nothing, as if you never existed at all, and not because it hates you, no, because IT DOES NOT CARE
patronsaintofpoison You seem mad. There isn't anything here to be mad about.
patronsaintofpoison
Bro do you even bird watch?!
I love how david just quits when it starts singing the seinfield theme a second time
that seinfield part really got to me holy shit
My coworkers and I watch this every Friday
Out of all the achievements and abilities that animals possess, this the lyrebird's mimicry has to be in the top five.
You can call me crazy, but i think this is fake.
The camera shutter sound was unedited, the rest of it was fake.
The camera with a motor drive sound is real as well.
ERETIC!
I don't know, that bass line sounded pretty legit.
agree. this video is fake
I love the simulated David Attenborough exasperation. This video is quite entertaining.
I love lyrebirds, they're my favorite bird. They have such and AMAZING talent!
The thing I love most about this is that it doesn't seem like somebody else edited this together afterwards. It seems like Attenborough and his crew conceived and executed the 'alternate take' themselves. =]
Well said
i cant stop watching this video
11 years later, still my favorite video in all of youtube
It always makes me so happy to see something new posted by you guys!
the sienfeld killed me
Very impressive Bird, what a character this is.
Just saw the life of birds on TV and this scene came on. Couldn't stop laughing. 🤣
One of my favorite videos on UA-cam, ever.
I love how David Attenborough keeps looking back at the Lyre bird every time it started copying what he said.
Bird Made him rage quit his own documentary
.... "incorporates sounds he hears in the forest,".... like the Seinfeld theme, ROFLMAO!!! XD
I come back to this video regularly. It's that good.
after seeing this years ago i still come back now and then and it's still as funny as it was years ago, thank creator!!
omg i think im gonna unfave this just so i can fave it again, its still sooooo good!
Haters will say it's Photoshop.
It it photoshopped but, but it has to be.....
Maybe it's Photoshop.
Maybe it's Maybelline.
It has David Attenborough in it, therefore it must be true
This is fantastic! absolutely wonderful, please redo and kudos
And another year of coming back to this.
I love how the bird just fucking demolishes David Attenborough's documentary.
So will Jerry's lawyers descend upon this bird with a cease and desist or what
This video is absolutely priceless.
Just unbelievable ....the most amazing bird I have ever seen....
In all the years I have seen youtube, this has to be one of the top ten videos ever
I can say that this video is true as i was at a zoo once with Lyre birds and they could mimic ALMOST every sound they heard except very high pitch ones like screeches don't know if they can but it was fun to hear one say : Shake that butt over and over again. Still remember that day from since i was a mere lad.
Imagine all the birds he's going to get now that he has David Attenboroughs voice!
Considering this video has almost 3,000,000 views, I don't think it is should really be called "Unseen".
_Previously_ Unseen?
Still one of UA-cam’s greatest hits.
How can a gem like this be buried in the depths of youtube. We should all be talking about it.
oops. i almost forgot to watch this video today
Okay it gets fake right? I've seen how crazy lyrebirds are, but at the end it's just ridiculous. Can those birds REALLY mimic something like that?
OF course it can! It can mimic any noise! Think before you comment.
Think of asking a question before i comment?
It's a dang question and it got answered
da fffuh
***** Sarcasm is a wonderful thing isn't it? :3
Yes, it's fake, here is the original video from BBC Amazing! Bird sounds from the lyre bird - David Attenborough - BBC wildlife Watch from 1:38
its not fake...
I would like for the bird to be taught rickroll
I love how they keep the camera shake going even when the footage is paused. Really good job AND I got a massive laugh out of it :D
This is fantastic, I've watched it all about 5 times now and my belly hurts. Well edited!
THIS IS SO FUNNY !!!! HAHAHAH I CANT STOAP LAUGHING HAHAHA !!!
Anyone know the source of that bass guitar music? I need it because reasons.
Seinfeld
Neil Z Do you know where I can find this particular version?
Nintenjoey a lyre bird
Darude - Sandstorm
I'm British, genius. Seinfield wasn't shown in this country when it was around.
Before seinfeld even became a meme... It was a meme
I’ve seen this several times and never ceases to amaze me!!
me too
15 years now and still tops
Whats the deal with the lyrebird? (anyone)
YES. ALL OF THE YES.
Who ARE these Lyrebirds?
This bird sounds like MIDI
I'm from Australia and the lyrebird has the most elaborate voice of any bird in Australia and yes it can copy a human voice to that extent, but the fact that it trold David Attenborough by copying his voice and then pretending that it wasn't the lyerbirds doing has gone and cracked me up laughing 😆😂😂
This is about the cleverest spoof I've seen -- far out and perfect timing!
Bloody brilliant. I've had a crap day today and this cheered me right up.
I'd teach one to say, "Eat my shorts."
I would teach mine how to say stuff on cue. I would teach it a lot of songs and test answers, that way if I snuck it into school on a test day and secretly let it run loose around the classroom, with a flick of my pencil or something, that way he'd/she'd shout out the answers to the whole classroom. :3
DawnTheWolf
Awesome. ;D
How could anyone think this is legit?
+TheGamingHalo promethean prove it
Look up "lyrebird" on here, the first clip is the original one from BBC. They can do upwards of 20+ different species of birds' calls, car alarms, and even the sounds of chainsaws cutting down trees.
Destraight prove it’s not real 🤔
ETOILE !
OUI !

Simply genious.. Watch over and over then forget for months then find again...😂
SOOOODAAAA
Alcatraz OneNinety thought I was the only one lol
it would have been funnier if they put through the fire and flames.
such a shame it's fake
right but if probably could mimic those sounds anyways....those are really amazing creatures.
considering it can mimic a chainsaw i'm not doubting it could make these sounds.
Funny! Lyre birds are freakin' amazing. The editing to peace that sequence together was perfect!
This is the best video in the internet!
A UA-cam video for all time!
I randomly thought of this clip today and could not stop laughing so I had to google it. Dying! Even funnier than I remembered 😂😂😂
Not every day you stumble upon UA-cam legend.
This makes me cry every time.
The editing is superb! 😂😂😂
Love the simulated camera shake on the stills!
Really enjoyed this. 😁
Still one of my favourite videos on youtube.. lol
the comedic timing is A+
this video is transcendent humor to a degree i cant even comprehend
best video ever, watched it 20 times and still makes me laugh, so funny how david gets irritated by the bird and the bird whistles like ' it wasn't me' :)
I don’t know why this is so funny, but I love it so.
Brilliant edit.
WOW! This video was uploaded on my 18th birthday. I had no idea it was that old.
I showed this to my Ornithology professor after a lecture talking about songs and how they call and she loved it hahaha
2011, still my favorite video on the internet.
same thought in 2021
Sweet! That was great. I'm from just down the road in Riverton and next time I drive through I will stop in to your shop.
LOL this is one of the best videos I’ve ever come across
It looked so real at the beginning and then it clicked. What a shame. It was well edited
As a gen z who's obsessed with sound effects, this bird right here is my spirit animal
attenborough's sigh and look of frustration at the end is probably the most genius thing on youtube
Quality stuff. Very good, very nice.
I LOVE david attenborough, he's my hero, I think even he would appreciate the wonderful humor of this :P
Haha, first good parody of anything I've seen on UA-cam in a long time.
I imagine it takes a LOT of skill to imitate Attenborough's voice THAT well.
