Thanks for sharing the technique. When I play low notes I always start blowing very gently then accelerate my air until the low notes come out. I will practice as you described. Thanks again.
Thanks for watching!
❤❤❤
Super-clear explanation of this concept, thanks Robert! This is a big help for a problem I know I have.
Great content, Dr. Young! I had a student this morning relying on their articulation to kick start the note this morning and shared this video with them - problem fixed!
Boom.
This is great I never knew, this is a major issue I didn't notice until now
wonderful lesson! Exposition is clear and logical. You are a great teacher.
Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
This was a decent video. Conceptionally, very well explained. Thank you, Doc.
Thank you!
Hi Robert, thanks for the video and PDF, very useful. Have you got any suggestions as to why my bottom Eb and D on a Yamaha Custom EX875 are always flat compared to the E and low C? I use a Rousseau JDX6 mouthpiece and a Legere 2.5 reed.
Some times the Eb is flat simply because it is the only hole that is rested against your body. If you try slightly pulling the saxophone away from your body when you play the Eb you likely will find that the pitch will rise. However that is not very practical in every situation... Since this is your Eb and C Im also wondering if your Low C key is opening wide enough....if it's not, that would cause your D to be flat (and your Eb actually). That can be an easy adjustment that you do yourself. If you are not comfortable, you can ask your technician to adjust.
(I hope this is helpful)
