One of my favorite musicians, Mike Finnigan, on keyboards and vocals. This isn't exactly a showcase of his talents. For that, check out _Crazed Hipsters_ by Finnigan and Wood. Some great blues, soul, and R & B.
Been playing guitar seriously and professionally for 55 years, ... this is one of the best solos I've ever heard. Clever, with tons of feeling, and phase work I've never seen before. That first finger bend on the B string from B to C# is wonderful, never seen it before or sense, not in that way. This is so great to see it done live just like the studio. I always thought Dave played it. Congrats to Jim for that solo. A small masterpiece.
For those unfamiliar, listen to Dave Mason's Certified Live double album. There's this blues...Jim Krueger does pretty much the same solo...unfortunately, and there's also another killer blues "Goin Down Slow" sung by keyboardist Mike Finnigan and with a guitar solo by Jim Krueger using the talk box... very cool. Also interesting is that Mike Finnigan's introduction on keyboards and vocals, he evokes the Ray Charles version of this song, obviously that was intentional. The band's drummer is also fantastic...I don't remember his name at the moment.
Awesome performance. Have been waiting for this one for awhile. Dave Mason (formerly of Traffic) was host that night on The Midnight Special, playing 8 songs including "Feeling Alright". Hopefully MS channel will post more of the songs from that night-February 7, 1975. Thanks
Once Gerald Johnson joined Dave on bass, that Dave Mason Band was not only Dave Mason's best band, but one of the best Band's of all time. Dave Mason is one of the greatest musicians of all time, but sadly one of the most underappreicated musicians of all time. I have seen Dave in concert 102 times and every one has been awesome.
I prefer the original recording by Sam Cooke who wrote the song and had a warm mellow voice on many of his songs. Unfortunately, Sam Cooke died before this show premiered.🤔😪
One of the best performances ever of that song. Dave Mason is highly underappreciated. Fantastic band too. Can anyone list who's playing what for me? Thanks.
Nice version of this tune. Anyone know who the guitar player is? That was a fun solo, cool Strat too. (EDIT: Seems this guitarist is Jim Krueger.) This is sort of like the Animals version; they do the same chord change under “Bring your sweet lovin’” vs. the Sam Cooke original.
@@rosskstarThank you! Yeah, found another concert from 1975 where Dave names all the band members and looked into Krueger. “We Just Disagree” is such a great tune.
Keyboardist Mike Finnigan looks like he could be legendary guitarist James Burton's younger brother. Saw these guys at Bowling Green State U. in April 1978, with Spirit's Jay Ferguson opening.
It's like a gospel song. Praise the Lord.
Can I get an Amen, brother?
@@gregoryduncan3067Yeah! Amen!😅 That was excellent!
Great point. Sam Cooke, who wrote this tune, started in gospel music, and you can really hear its influence here.

Wow! I'm sure they will! They'll post the entire show, eventually!
That was some awesome blues! They're harmony was perfect!! Great performance!🔥😎
The "Yeahs" on the original were by Lou Rawls. I miss his deep baritone in this one.

Dave Mason was bringing it back then with his band.
Dang man. I ain't lyin, I just burnt a bowl of weed after mowing grass for 4 hours today. I'm showered and crispy. Damn good song. Glad I found it.
Those were the day's!
Dave Mason and his band sound so GOOD!! 🥰 RIP Mike Finnegan ❤🙏 The guitarist takes a beautifully daring solo too! 👏👏👏
Nobody does this song better than Dave Mason.....Just love it!

Um grande " Clássico " de Sam Cooke , cover sensacional !
Sam Cooke sure could write some songs. This is a great version though.

Jim Krueger ; Songwriter, Guitarist Best known for writing Dave Mason's hit "We Just Disagree"... and possibly Industrial Smoothing.

I like the Animals version, too. Cool organ in this one as well.

Love Dave Mason still have his Mariposa De Oro album
Anyone know which TV show it was where Mason sang this song with Billy Joel? It's gotta be a rare one.
