Twitter is a private company. They have their own Terms of Service. Patrons agree to the terms when opening their accounts. Twitter can ban whatever they want on their platform and still not be in violation of free speech. Only the government can violate a citizen's free speech.

When a federal employee or public official act outside the authority and scope of their position, they do so as a private citizen. Their crimes do not become the crimes of the entire country, and the punishment SHALL not be levied upon the American public. Additionally to that, there has been an all out assault on the American public. The allowance of elected officials to denigrate the Constitution through censoring free speech of citizens, is not only prohibited, but it is an act of treason. In my opinion, there is only one side to be had in this discussion, bc there is literally zero argument. If you are sworn to protect the Constitution, you damn well better know the laws, and follow them, or be removed from that position. When did ignorance become the standard in this government? I can't believe I'm seeing members of Congress speaking to limit free speech. The bill doesn't do enough. There should be jail time involved for federal agents who attempt to silence differing opinions online or on any media.
On a personal note, my comments on several platforms have disappeared soon after writing them, including this platform. What I wrote wasn't violent, or against the law, or vulgar. I simply disagreed with the political position of an issue held by some liberal media outlets. And in disagreeing, I calmly and clearly stated my view of the issue using zero inflammatory language.
So I'm saying with certainty that censorship has been used and continues to be used and that according to these platforms own rules they are required to censor dissent by various government agencies. And with all due respect to those Congressmen who deny it's existence I say they are either ignorant of the issue, mad, or are knowingly speaking untruths.

I watched the committee hearing on this. Goldman is correct. The Republicans offered no evidence of government interference with the normal operation of Twitter. There was a time when Trump asked them to take down insulting Tweets, but even then, Twitter just took it under advisement and applied their terms of service rules.
