It's only a suggestion, of course they won't get promoted you need x amount of arrests to be Corp. X to be Sgt. X to be lt, Bla bla bla like a few weeks in some messed class that teaches you to violate crimes and cover your a** does the public any good. And militarized just look at what they call each other and the lingo they use. Direct order standing order lawful order. Lawfully allowed to be deceitful during any questions. Not advising Miranda warning as soon as they walk up. Thwy ask questions and maybe after arrested they may mirandize you if they need more evidence. It's nothing but a bunch of crooks.
We had the world's safest streets...before the war on drugs. Tragic to see a nation, who's highest claimed vale of "freedom", be goaded into building an over reaching police state. Both political parties did this.
Hey Phoenix, you made history! The first time in history the DoJ has found these kinds of constitutional violations. Good job…good job. But seriously the PD needs to get their act together and personally I would like to see the consent decree to be in perpetuity, with no end date
Actually ridiculous though, they are being arrested more because they are doing crime more, if you want them to get away with it more there wont be a Phoenix soon.
I lived in Phoenix for a little while when I was very young...long ago. I sure thought it was nice. And hot, and maybe it is hotter now. I have been much less than happy with what I have heard about that police department in Phoenix. Sounds like they have a rotten police subculture, this is true in some other cities too. I live in an East Coast city now (we are good at voting here) and with our promising young mayor and other people it seems that our police are pretty good but there are still some 'legacy' bad officers and recently a multimillion dollars lawsuit for a criminal act against a detained and restrained 'suspect', why is now partly paralyzed and rides around in a fancy electric wheelchair. I am sure the young Black guy would rather be walking. If the people in charge don't make changes a lot of very unpleasant things will happen!
The reason this review is so harsh compared to other departments across the country is because it is one of the only department wide reviews the DOJ has done. The DOJ is under funded, under staffed, and the political will to look into police abuse has been lacking at all levels of government. Not to mention the backlash from the MAGA thin blue line crowd every time needed reforms are mentioned. If similar reviews were conducted across the nation I have no doubt that similar problems and worse would be found. Policing itself is rampant with corruption and lack of transparency. Qualified immunity and right-wing authoritarianism have allowed this to fester to a point of dysfunction.
Simple thing though. they wouldnt be arrested if they werent doing a crime, so this makes no sense, in truth the reason they are being arrested more is because in fact they are doing crime more. What is hard to understand about this ?
No. What they found is that it is the police that are committing crimes and violating peoples constitutional rights. And the police are not arresting themselves. So that is corruption. Why is that so hard to understand?
How about bringing charges, prosecute and incarcerate police officer who commit these crimes?
Its a lie, Govt. doesnt want to admit that it is because they are not only getting caught more but in fact they are truly doing crime more.
That sounds like a working three branch government, not the single stripper pole that we have.
How super, duper moral and Constitutionally correct! Common Law is so simple that even a 5th Grader can easily under stand it and defend themselves!
Hold Phx PD responsible and make changes!
we all knew something fishy is still going on
you literally can’t even walk around as a pedestrian without being judged and harassed by the police, let alone being homeless
Maybe the homeless are doing lots of crimes.

We did an investigation and found no foul play - the police 😂😂😂
Please hold arizona law enforcement accountable to their transgressions they need it
What about exposing their incentives for achieving arrest and ticket quotas???? 🤷

No it has been failed for years upon years
“engage with official”. how about we put them in jail, and maybe her to, for knowingly withholding justice from being done, terrorism
That's right my friend they are terrorists
And that's a fact
God bless
Why trust any of these people. Protect yourself. Against these wicjed liars
Thank you so much, DoJ ❤
I am completely shocked! That ABC15 would cover this? They seemed to be the most censored 😮

Greed is a motivating factor
Sounds like Qualified Immunity needs to go bye- bye!
The simple fact is qualified immunity needs to be abolished and it should have never been put in place ever in this country

nothing will come out of this...
how about persons with cameras?
Looks like Phoenix days of dirty policing is over
Somewhat doubtful. The police union protects bad cops sometimes too!
This needs to be done across America!!!!!
Government sleaziness
As usual …
No Transparency and No Accountability equals Corruption. Hold these corrupt tyrants accountable.
This has been going on since 1993 at least when Arpaio became sheriff. Phoenix was the best at prisoners dying in custody among other terrible things.
DEFUND!!!!
Hopefully the DOJ also use Relentless Pursuit of Justice to get these ray- cist and corrupt cops the jail time they deserve.
who is this lady? I remember her being questioned by congress and she did not look to good.
Phoenix is like 40% hispanics , so they discriminate almost half of the city
40% isn't half
So they found disturbing incidents but nothing will be done..
Make Grant park 68 great again!
They aren't changing come back!
