I'm going to be selfish and say please don't leave UA-cam. I learn something new every time you post a video. You will be missed.

Dale, you’re real. A real apostle. A real Christian. As real a brother as I have these days. That tincan of yours is our daily chapel. We pray together. We “talk”. And we learn. Ways to pray. Is there anything more important than that?

If by “social media” you mean you quit making these videos, please don’t. Just take a break. But please don’t quit. I just got my copy of the St. Bernard Breviary. That’s the most I’ve ever spent on any book. Ever. And it’s so beautiful, I’m afraid to touch it. But I will use it, God willing. I just wish I could afford multiple copies for the rest of my family. So we could pray it together.

The irony is that you and I found the St Bernard Breviary because of youtube. I saw it first in one of Fr Ben's videos.

@@dalecaldwell I, as well, found the St. Bernard Breviary on one of Fr. Ben's videos. I was certainly intrigued when I saw your video on it, as well. Had I not just pre-ordered the new re-designed Schuyler Quentel ESV, that book would be in my hands as we speak. lol

Wait a minute, Dale. Father Ben Jeffries has a presence in social media. And I’m glad he does. I’m gonna be watching all his videos more than once. I really want to sing and chant when I use the St Bernard breviary. I’m gonna see if my son can join me with his guitar.

"The making of books, there is no end" That is certainly true brother Dale. Like you, I really enjoy prayer books and have many. You highlighted several of the orthodox volumes in the past which I have since purchased and enjoy greatly. I particularly like the Lancelot Andrewes Press BCP. Thank you for those videos, they has been a true blessing in my life. As a lifelong Anglican, I have resisted any publication intended for Roman Catholic worship, however, I am looking. My next purchase will be the St. Bernard Breviary - although not perfect, I think it will come close to what I am looking for in a single book. I suspect I will be with our father before I find a single BCP that suits all my needs and wishes. The saga continues...

When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.”

Dale, thanks for reading the scriptures at the end of the videos. I scored 2 used copies of the Book of Common Prayer at the library book sale and of course you came to mind as I grabbed them.

This was quite an informational video! You can't leave UA-cam. Think of Saint Anthony the Great. He came out of his heritage to defend the Trinity doctrine from Heretics (not quite like me.)
There is a new crowd-sourced 3rd Edition of the Anthologion in the works that will include the Psalter and some refinements and new material. I bought the first edition, but sold it to buy the second edition.
As for the Lectionary Bible, its better than I expected. But, because you invoked the Orthodox Study Bible in the video, researched both your video and the R. Grant Jones videos of the Orthodox Study Bible. I watch his videos some years before I found your UA-cam channel.
I don't know if I want to get the Lectionary Bible now because the Orthodox Study Bible is an inexpensive alternative.
The 1000+ page 4th Edition of the Publicans Prayer Book has a Menaion, so using the Lectionary in the Orthodox Study Bible would work very well. Besides the Daily Prayers, Horologion, Canons and Akathists, the Publicans Prayer Book has lots of quotes from the Church Fathers by topic, which the Anthologion does not have, plus various Prayer Rules. For what I like, using the Publicans Prayer Book with together with the Lectionary of the Orthodox Study Bible I think would be more full than using the Anthologion 2nd Edition with the Lectionary Bible.
Of course, I don't think the Orthodox saints ever found themselves in this dilemna!
Please stay on UA-cam and Facebook. Take some breaks if you need to get away, but please come back for your Internet friends. I don't have the ability to travel to your tin an for a visit. Besides, you might not want to meet me in person. However, I am enriched by your videos. By reading the comment section, I'm not the only one. Peace and God Bless.

I pray more since I started watching your videos, Brother Dale. I pray like I’ve never prayed before. But you do what is best for you. Your health, mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical are what matter here. I know I’ll keep praying even if you never post a video again. Thanks to you, I have plenty of resources. But it won’t be the same, to be honest. So, God bless you. Good luck, whether in your tincan or some cave somewhere. I lift my cup of Joe to you. And don’t forget to keep praying for us, as we pray for you.

I greatly appreciate your videos! I’m a dedicated St Bernard Breviary and book dart user. Do you have a video where you go more in depth about your life story? I thought I heard you mention in one video having a Baptist background. I’m a Baptist on the road to Anglicanism.

Forgive my ignorance here, but does each tradition have different readings? And each book has a different set of prayers?
I ordered the OSB a few days ago, so maybe it’ll have more information about this kind of stuff…I’m so ignorant I’m not even sure how to ask these questions 😂 Does it contain the prayers you mention?

    • @dalecaldwell
      @dalecaldwell  3 місяці тому +1

There are slightly different readings and prayers, which made little difference when distances separated people. Now, we are more aware of differences and sometimes not likely to recognize that the selections, such as the slightly different prayers in different areas, come from the same pool of sources.

“In pursuit in a life of hiddeness, I will abstain from all social media.” I’m sorry, but Father Jeffries is wrong on this one.
Like you said, if not for “social media”, the St. Bernard Breviary would not be selling so well. I know I would NEVER have purchased a copy if not for your recommendation.
I understand why social media can be harmful to people, especially young people. But you, Dale, are spreading the word of God. You’re not doing it for “clicks”. You don’t do your hair, put on make-up, or even ask for money. No one can accuse you of grifting off of the word of God. If you’re not feeling well, take a break. But please don’t quit your videos. If anything, post more videos. Use the St. Bernard Breviary, and we can all pray together. Online. Together. Every. Single. Day. Or maybe every other day?
But, if you were looking for an excuse to stop making these videos, well you’ve found it. Just remember, if by your words or actions, you can save just one soul, isn’t it worth it?
I gotta go. My St Bernard Breviary is waiting. I’ve got lots of catching up to do. And remember, you are our hermit. Our saint. Our brother. Good nite, Brother Dale.
