The title of this episode caught my eye. Reading McDermott’s “Deep Anglicanism” presently. 😊.

I read Deep Anglicanism. It’s a really nice overview of Anglicanism.

However, it goes into this extended discussion of why homosexuality is such a great sin although Jesus never said a word about while gingerly skirts the issue of divorce and remarriage which Jesus clearly condemned. TALK ABOUT HYPOCRISY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess the author didn't want to offend potential readers giving them an excuse to pray like the prideful Pharisee in Luke 18:11-12 "God, I thank thee that I am not as other men, unchurched, heretical Episcopalians, Muslims, or (God forbid!) those perverted, unnatural homosexuals, ...:

@josephr.gainey2079 Odd. I have many friends in the ACNA who know my 'sexual orientation', and not one of them has ever done anything like what you are describing. The response has always been that we are all tempted in different ways. What is not allowed in the ACNA is same-sex marriage, which I myself consider an oxymoroon. I also don't approve of remarriage after divorce or ordaining women, but I doubt that makes me any holier than the prideful pharisee.

@@dalecaldwell Although I am celibate, and have been for decades, that has not been my experience with ACNA nor the Continuing churches (with one exception among them). However, I do live in the Deep South. Thank you for responding and your videos--they are a source of comfort and knowledge for this old man. GOD BLESS!

@@dalecaldwell I forgot to mention I am in 100% agreement with your list of things opposed. It's nice to see I'm not the only person who thinks this way.

I like the idea of a one volume Breviary with catechetical material, 150 or 151 Psalms, the whole New Testament, Sermons, and Hagiography. However, such a "one stop shop" doesn't seem to exist, though many have most of the items on my wish list.
Thanks for the video. As usual, there is lots of good information packed into this one.

Abglicanism is by far the most persuading denomination to me

Despite some bumps along the way, Anglicanism has arrived as a majorly orthodox experience and practice.

12:37 very much like a Psalm Prayer in the Roman Office, mixed with the Gloria.

I like the catechetical content of the St Aelfric's. One book of mine that I've come to appreciate more is called "The Practice of Religion" by Rev. Archibald Campbell Knowles. It's not really a prayer book, although it has some prayers in it. Most of the book is an explanation of the Christian faith, including the history and present condition of the Church, Christian symbolism, a description of the rites and sacraments of the Church, and a wide variety of devotionals, all from an obnoxiously Anglo-Catholic perspective. I don't necessarily agree with the book's perspective, but I can appreciate that it's trying to explain not just the prayers that a Christian should pray, but why a Christian should pray those prayers and not others. It's something most modern prayer books lack, and something I think that would be very useful to have, especially for a newcomer to the faith.
