Always loved this song - makes me feel very nostalgic🌿Lodi is a small town in California. You are right, puts you in the mood for a road trip😊 Love your conversation and the reaction is spot on! You are right George, all of this music is like gold.🧡
Lodi is a small dusty town in the central part of California. My father-in-law was a county western singer and spent his years traveling from one small town in CA to another playing in bars and dance halls. Lodi was just one of many stops he used to make!
I was stuck in Lodi once. I was a trucker for a minute riding up and down the east coast with a trainer and told him, this ain't for me. Pissed him off and he dropped me off at a truck stop in Lodi. But, this was in Ohio. But, I've always loved this tune. Yeah. Peace
Had a quick look on Google and Lodi is a small agricultural community in California's central valley. Apparently the song describes the plight of a down and out musician playing gigs at local bars. After playing there, he doesn't have enough money for a bus fare so he's stranded. I'm not sure if I've heard this song before - it's beautiful isn't it, lovely melody. Another fantastic song, which I think you would love, is Pagan Baby, one of my favourites, apart from everything else, brilliant guitar solos. I've got it in the car and listen to it a lot. Other favourites are Effigy, Travelin' Band and Up Around the Bend. You're absolutely right, George, there's nothing like classic rock!! Another fab reaction to a superb CCR song, thanks so much, guys, really enjoyed it. Take care now. ❤❤
Do you know, guys, I've been re-watching some of your really early reactions, songs like Sultans of Swing Live (Dire Straits), Highway Star, (Deep Purple), Locomotive Breath (Jethro Tull), High Hopes Live (Nightwish), Fade To Black (Metallica), Comfortably Numb, Pulse (Pink Floyd) and Sounds of Silence (Disturbed). It was brilliant, brought back lots of great memories, fantastic reactions from two years ago! You've done so well, guys and now you're coming up to 50k subscribers, that is brilliant, and I'm sure you'll reach 100k in due course. Thanks so much for all your great reactions, George and Patrick, always really enjoyable. 👍😊
Yes Anne, it is fun to go back and watch all of these brother's reactions again! They can really give us a pick up at any time of the day or night thanks to youtube😊Will be very happy for them when they reach 50,000 subscribers and I have no doubt that they will reach 100,000 and beyond. Keep up the good work guys!!!☺
@@Jules-um4yy Hi Jules, yes, it's fun watching the early reactions again, in the early days of course, George was introducing Patrick to music that he loved and it was great watching Patrick's reactions and how he really got into classic rock, for example Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple! Now they're reacting to music that's new to both of them and again, it's fascinating watching their different reactions.😊
So nice! New to me, but that CCR vibe is unmistakeable. Lodi must have been pretty isolated back when this was written. Much respect for your knowledge guys - you are definitely teaching as well as learning. Thanks!!
Excellent song & reaction guys… I grew up with the music of the 60s and 70s.. There’s nothing like it today. It was musically exciting because there were tons and tons of variety, each with a unique sound with melody and often meaningful words or stories. They were talented and creative and they cared about the quality of their music. So nice to see that appreciated by you guys! Thank you! 😀
Lodi is a small farming town in the central valley of northern California, if you look on a map the central valley begins in Redding and runs down to past Bakersfield which is quite a large area and where the bulk of California food crops are grown...anyways Lodi is just this small little dirt town, lol...nothing special there, I always had an appreciation to CCR for making this song about that town, I always wondered how they came to create this song and why....anyways yet another great song from CCR
I was reading about the song on Google, John Fogerty, who wrote it, said he'd never actually visited the town before writing the song, he just thought it was a really cool name! 😊
@@annemaclean6634 I remember being a kid in the car when we drove through Lodi once and someone mentioned, well this is the town Creedance sang about...my entire family were CCR fans so of course I became one
I agree with you guys, older music is just magical, so much wonderful stuff washed over the world and saved the people, over and over again, very few modern hits from now will have that same effect, with such easy access to make something for everyone nowadays, few real artists still stand out, but Classics are Classics :-) thanks guys!!!
Isn't language, especially place names, such a funny and fun thing! Many world languages pronounce an "i" (or the Roman alphabet of what equates to "i" in their native alphabet) similiar to an English long "E" (as in "beet") sound rather than the English long "I" (as in "eye") sound. Lodi, CA, USA was said to be named after either a similiar town in Illinois, or a local racehorse, or a bridge in Itally. If the latter, it's particularly odd that it should be pronounced with the long "I" sound. Many places in North America have Native American names. Whether the pronunciation of the I or E sounds in their names is represented in the Roman alphabet spelling by an "I" or an "E" is largely dependent on whether the area was settled (and name translated to written word) by French, English, or Spanish settlers. Languages are SO interesting!
You are right Elizabethe, there are so many different languages and sounds and history to go with it - no wonder it is a challenge to learn a foreign language. Much easier when we are young when our brains were like sponges and more flexible!😊
My husband loves to tell the story about how, doing some scientific fieldwork, he spent a week in Lodi one night. It’s really a depressing place. The Central Valley of California is not the tourist view of the beaches and National Parks. It’s an area you just want to drive through as quickly as possible. Farm country with lots of migrant labor snd poverty.
They may've broken up in '72 but their music has continued to be hits, now classic rock & has aged extremely well. I do love some CCR ALWAYS ❣️ Thnx guys, b safe & well .. Peace Out ☮️🤘🏼❣️
Get in your car and drive to Lodi, CA😉 This is such a simple song in many ways, but it's so powerful as well 🥹 John's real troubles happened when he had the publishing rights to his songs-- all these famous CCR songs- taken/stolen from him years ago. He just got them back. That's why he stopped playing with his band and troubles ensued. He couldn't even play HIS OWN MUSIC THAT HE WROTE - without paying royalties to 🤐🤬😡😤🤑......
Well, I think that you should get into more of CCR, you'll rarely, if ever, run into a bad song of theirs. I can't listen to them without being taken back to when my brother and my mom use to play their guitars and they'd play "Bad Moon Rising" or "Green River", such memories, maybe they're still playing together in the afterlife. Lodi was a bit of a sad one, not my favorite but, still has it's place in my memories too. Great reaction guys!
Great song, saw John Fogerty at the Greek Theatre here in LA. I've been through Lodi, on the way somewhere else. Beautiful place north of me. Have you guys done any Green Day? ua-cam.com/video/CnQ8N1KacJc/v-deo.html The Time of Your Life
Patrick… Please, please, please react to Donny Hathaway singing a song called, A Song For You. Powerful, incredible, unforgettable. You don’t want to miss this. An incredible voice accompanied by gorgeous piano. I hope you do it. Do the official audio version. Thank you.
I've heard Europeans say we have no culture in America to call our own. I can only laugh because those same people watch our movies and listen to our songs everyday. I'm not saying you are those types of snobby old world dinosaurs.
It is a small town about 2 hours, perhaps a little more from San Francisco, in the valley. Going to the historic Gold Country or Yosemite National Park you might drive through Lodi, I have been through there several times.
Love this reaction video. Lodi is one my favorite CCR songs. I hope you guys are able to do a reaction to "Games People Play" play by Joe South sometime in the future.
If you want a lyrically similar song, try "Rock And Roll I Gave You The Best Years Of My Life" by Kevin Johnson. And if you want a similar "road song", try "Yellow River" by Christie
Lodi is north of me about 50 miles away 😎Easy to get stuck around here😆😅
John Fogerty just won the rights to his CCR music after 50 years. Owned by record company that signed him. Congratulations John
So glad to hear John got his songs. I am happy for him and for all of us who loved his tunes.
I was hitchhiking through California back in the 1970s, and actually got "stuck in Lodi." Since I was a big Creedence fan, I sang a few lines for fun.
CCR is California gold ❤️.
We were young and thought we would live forever and the music would, too.
Yeah I agree CCR is great driving listening music too, great band 🩷👍
Pronounced “low-die”
I was born and raised in lodi. Small quaint little town. Fun as a kid
LODI is located in Northern California with a huge German population

Didn't know that fact...........thank you :) Peace and Love
I thought Lodi was Texas, all good.
Hey guys I live in Lodi... but in Italy, which is a sister city of Lodi, California! 🇺🇸 🇮🇹😁
There's one in Wisconsin too
I MISS NORTHERN CALIFORNIA ESPECIALLY LODI, CA….I MOVED AWAY TO THE EAST COAST NOW!

Love me some CCR. ❤️

How true you are. I'm 70 now. Between age 18-25 I went to 2 or 3 concerts a month. It was great.
Lodi Ca, just south of Sacramento

I use IKEA as an example -- in Europe pronounced like E-KAY-UHH
I have failed miserably at attempts to learn several languages.
If I weren't a native speaker, I'm certain I'd never been able to learn English! 🤔
Born and raised in Lodi,Ca 209 area code. 👍👍
Music!!!😢😂😮❤
"Low-dye" I live in California. Lol

'Lodi' would be forgotten were it not for this song from CCR. Small town in CA.

Any CCR is good, but I have been listening to ‘Green River’ lately.

CCR has more number two hits than any other band despite the fact they weren't together very long. 1.o0
