- Getting certified in your nursing specialty is a valuable resume builder, especially if you're an ICU nurse looking to apply to CRNA school! In this video, I'll share with you guys how I studied for the CCRN and the CMC subspecialty certifications and passed them!

By the way, thank you for this video. I now have my CCRN-CSC-CMC! I'm in my first round of applying to CRNA schools, and hopefully one will be a good match for me. Hope you're thriving in your program. Thanks again!
For anyone reading this, I found the CMC to be slightly harder than both the CCRN and CSC. VERY manageable though, and the biggest challenge is the lack of resources. I found the AACN CMC course to be overkill, and I basically did not utilize the course after seeing how in depth it went (this is coming from a nurse who works in CVICU/CCU though). I used the AACN CMC question booklet and the Pass CCRN question bank for cardiac and pulmonary. Barron's for cardiac and pulmonary is a good review too, if you need a refresher.
My pleasure. I enjoy making videos like these to help others. Hope you get into your top choice!
Yes, I agree, the recorded lecture of the CMC course through AACN are really overkill. It's like bordering medicine practice level instead of nursing. lol. I used exactly everything you stated.
I would scan over my question first..then go read the material looking for key words or things that stood out. Then make my own Questions and do the research on it. Highlight key points..kept me making A's and B's in class..then I would keep those questions and Answers and study those every other day. For like weeks until im familiar with that particular question or questions. Haven't failed me..
Just keep doing practice questions that's the most important thing...
Practice questions are very important, but I also think studying concepts are also very beneficial.
What practice questions did you use?
Come cross your channel. Do I need patient care experience when applying? Do I need nursing school if I have master in finance
Bro i have a question.
How possible is it for a nurse working in usa but with a foreign obtained BSN to get into crna school?
I have my CCRN with 2+ years of ICU experience. I am taking grad A&P in August with interviews in Oct. GPA of 3.3. Should I study and take the CMC before studying for the interview or just study for my interview?
Sorry I'm just seeing this now. I would have suggested you could have studied for the CMC but seeing how it's late October you've probably already done your interview(s). Hope they went well!
This might be a stupid question but I really dont know. I haven’t finished nursing school yet but I know I want to work in critical care and I’m trying to be proactive. To become ccrn and cmc certified do you have to do any extra schooling before sitting for the test? Or is it just the 2 year of experience in critical care?
you need a certain number of working hours (employed) in critical care (about a year full time 760-something hours) to be eligible to take the exam
Departed Reflections thank you forgot I even asked this!

Not 760 hours , atleast 1750 hours
Stephanie K thanks. Btw is that stephanie K from degrassi or is your name really stephanie k ?
Great video. Thank you!
Hi! Do you mind sharing the review powerpoints you used for CMC?
Gigi K. Sorry I can’t share those because it’s on my AACN account.
@@NurseAnesthesia1 is it same as a certificate course in critical care in nursing..
How long did it take you to do the slides ?
How long are the slides ?
@Stephanie K. I’m studying for the CMC.The slides are pretty long but good information. I like it so far
@@gigik.4666 how long is it taking you to get through them ? I’m a slow learner and it takes me a while .
I like flashcards
Same! Great for memorizing!
Lol..Thats something that I would do..toss it..it sucks...
CMC was easy as hell. if you work on a cardiac unit you be okay. just use the official practice test book
I wouldn’t say it was “easy as hell.” Everything’s relative right? What’s easy to you may be difficult for someone else.
@@NurseAnesthesia1 I'm just trying to brag. I had to study too, and I hardly got a perfect score
