This is not a bug. This is a feature of gacha. This is how gacha is supposed to work. It was broken when Genshin was new because there weren't enough characters to make it hard to pull particular characters. Now it's working exactly like it should, from a gacha perspective.

I hate how Mihoyo knows the standard characters we want and gives us the other ones we don’t want. I literally only want Jean Tighnari or Dehya. And I _literally_ get everyone else. 🤦

I feel like Standard banner should start to have a filter week over week. Like have a set available one week and another set the next so you can slightly avoid cons or weapons you don't want.
Oh... Clever idea; They could split the banner like they've split the talent domains and have some characters on the Standard banner Tuesday/Friday/Sunday, and other characters on Standard for different days of the week.
Naturally the characters on Tuesday's Wish banner would be the ones you have to wait for Thursday until you can farm for.
I still dont understand why are we not getting blue fates as event rewards.
Maybe the same reason why we once got weapon billet boxes as a reward but now not any more.

You get primo instead, also, blue fate can be obtain from free battle passes, and whatever fountain/tree/pool/statue in the patch you need to collect things for
@@airstyles1989you get 48 total off of all of the trees pools etc (Not counting Fontaine yet) and 8 from adventure rank ascension. The only other reliable way to get them is from leveling up characters. Yes you can get five from the battle pass each month(ish) and 5 from the store, which amounts to if you're really lucky two standard five stars a year (105 wishes approx a year). And those could be weapons that you don't need or a character that you're not looking for.
TL:DR - you would be lucky to get an average of two five-star drops per year once you exhaust the one time only stuff.
@@airstyles1989 primos should be used only on limited banners amd the free fates are so few of them that it doesn't really count, you get around 80 pull per version, in one year, that's nothing
HSR gives you at least 1 wish for the standard every week with simulated universe
And "primos", and currency to buy decent 5 star weapons and R5 them.
HSR devs know us better than genshin devs
and a standard 5 selector twice (kinda) once at the start but you don't select it but you still get a free 5 star so early in the game and second after 300 pulls
HSR is more generous in some respects, But decent talent levels and relics seem a LOT harder to get than in Genshin.

Keqing is, for me, the lowest constellation starter standard banner character. But Jean beats my 50/50 with one constellation. 5 wins 16 losses.
My suggestion would an invite system after a certain number of wishes on the standard banner , lets say 180 wishes .
And a free 5 star weapon as a reward for every adventure rank above 55 .
From skyward series of weapon let's say .
By the time you're 60 AR , you have all five skyward weapons.

My suggestion for hoyo is to make a "wishing list"
A wishing list is a list of a number of 4 stars u choose to increase the chance of getting them so it becomes 50% from ur list and 50% from any 4*
This also applies to 5* whether the list should contain a specific 5* or more than one
Getting any specific character to be nightmare is intentional. No suggestions wanted, they already know 1000 improvements they could make but wont
hoyoverse should really take some of the star rail improvements into genshin 😭😭
The community should be way more vocal about this.
One of the things that shock me the most when starting its how few wishes the game gives you for the standard banner, I mean the power level of pretty much every 5 star on it its low, and you may never get the one you want.
In any other game they would give them for events, quest, twitch drops, etc.
I started playing on the last days of 3.4 (I think that was Yelan and Hu Tao rerun) and I didnt knew how good they were so I didnt pull. I just pulled my Yelan and in all that time I have gotten only 1 Xingqiu, its crazy that you may get a 5 star rerun before you get a specific 4 start.
The power of the standard 5-stars is actually still quite high.. There's not even a boss in Teyvat that can beat a well built Keqing + Xiangque + Collei trio - heck my Keqing alone cakewalked most challenges in the game up to world level 8. There may not be an easily-farmed build that can tackle the latest Abyss floors, but certainly for anything else in the game -- that just comes to show what a trap that floor 11 and floor 12 abyss material is - The game devs are Literally creating a problem and selling 5-star limited constellations as solutions for it, for those who don't have the time to spend 14 months in the emblem domain, and several months for each character to farm the perfect artifact sets.

Hu Tao and Bennett ruined Keqing's banner in 1.3
Until Ganyu's release - the first 5* I wanted more than or as much as Mona and her constellations, I wished exclusively on the standard banner.
I've been playing Genshin since launch (1.0) and I keep all my wish history in an Excel file. I share it in case new players wonder what to expect.
In 3 years I have wished a total of 539 times in standard banner, 10 with primogens (a beginner mistake) and the others with fates. I'm very active so I always got all 5 BattlePass wishes, all monthly store reset wishes, and a collection of wishes from ascending several characters.
Among these 539 wishes I got:
462 three stars (85.714%)
72 four stars (13.358)
7 five stars (1.298%)
And these are the 5*
Primordial Jade Winged-Spear (2020-12-25)
Qiqi (2021-05-02)
Primordial Jade Winged-Spear (2021-10-03)
Qiqi (2022-03-11)
Primordial Jade Winged-Spear (2022-09-15)
Keqing (2023-02-01)
Tighnari (2023-08-20)
You can imagine how disappointing is to get only Jade spears and Qiqis for over two years. And all my five stars were on pity. So my average 5* in standard banner costed me 77 wishes (that's more than weapons or characters banner).
I got the other 5* standard characters from losing 50/50 in the characters banner (I also got Qiqi C2 and Keqing C2), I'm only missing Dehya. But with weapons, it's a disaster. I always wanted the Wolf's Gravestone, Amos or Skyward Harp, and I never got them.
I felt forced to Skip Ganyu in 1.2 and pull for Xiao in 1.3 because I got that first jade spear. And I got my second jade spear when I already had Staff of Homa, so it was not really necessary.
Likewise, I also had a bad experience with Fisch. I got her C5 in 1.2, and I bought her C6 in the shop right away. A few days later I got Fischl C7 from the shop . and I kept getting four more copies from Fischl in standard banner (the last one a few days ago). Meanwhile, in 3 years, I never got a Beidou. I only have her from events+shop.
I got all old 4* at C6 except for Lisa, Amber, Xinyan and Beidou, while I struggle a lot to get new 4*. I never got a post-Inazuma 4* from the standard banner.
Anyway, I'm just very disappointed about the standard banner, and I wish it was different.

How mihoyo decided to give a epitomized path in honkai star rail but not genshin is beyond me
Genshin is never beating the cash cow allegations, while Honkai remains the favorite child
Mihoyo does not care he did get so much money from Genshin to be able to start new games and he thinks that them too will make the same money!
I think a much better system for the standard banner is for all the 4 stars be split into groups per cycle as you would on the limited banner. E.g this cycle only 10 are available then the batch refreshes along with the limited banner. This way if you want a specific 4 star you could easily save up your acquaint fates for that particular patch rather than rely purely on chance.
I could see that working, if we actually got enough fates to save... As it is now once you eliminate all of the one time gain sources like the trees, you get 8 wishes a month on average between Battle pass and the monthly five from the store. Just to get a monthly ten pull you have to guarantee you get a new character so that you can get a couple off of their ascension upgrades 😅 you shouldn't need to save for a year just to get a couple copies of the four star you want.
There is lots of research which gacha games use to help develop tactics to incite player spending. One of those tactics is to create confusion which I think is what all these banners and the mechanics behind them are about. When I started playing a few months ago I had to really go out of my way and search the internet to help me understand these banners, the differences between them and between all the fates, glitter and primogems (and yet in the first month I still ended up spending too many primos on the standard banner after hearing some players say "the standard banner is not too bad". Can I have a refund lol)

Not sure why you would spend primos on the standard banner. With F2P games, the main currency is time instead of money. Standard banner is permanent while limited banners aren’t and that should be the biggest takeaway. Everything in this game (and other F2P gachas) is based around time.
Standard banner used to be really competitive with limited banners. Especially in terms of weapons.
Constellations used to matter a lot less
That's interesting. When i started playing at the end of last year i only found warnings about not to pull on standard. I never played a gatcha game before and i agree that the ingame discription of the banners are difficult to understand. That had me very fast looking for people online to explain me certain things about the game. Not only the wishing system but also about building characters. I'm not a new gamer i played rpg and stuff before but i still got confused here and there what stat to choose because some character scale on so many different stuff that without numbers and testing it yourself it's not clear what the most important stat is. I think genshin is build confusing on purpose (not thr badic mechanics but everything above that). I never played a game where i used that many guides and depended that much on content creators.
@TacticalDimples i know, i never spent money. I spent the free primos which you get lots of at the beginning of the game. I was a new player and very confused, especially on which banner was better to spend your primos on, that was my whole point is that the confusion is purposefully created
@Zarya. ah yes I can totally see that. However unlucky for me , this was only in like May/June this year so definitely not the case anymore 😅 I was quick to figure out what's what in the game though~
Cut the pity in half, let players get their limited 5 star first, then activate the 50/50 for players trying to get a constellation of that character, and carry over pity on the weapon banner. That'd be a great start, and they wouldn't lose money. They would actually make more money I think, because you wouldn't have tons of people scared to pull for months and months just in case a character they want will get a rerun.
I actually regret not getting Keqing in 1.3.
Anyway, the lack of wishes could be offset if they buffed 3* rewards. It makes no sense that 9 out of 10 wishes you make end up as weapon EXP material. Dropping 1 Starglitter alongside the 15 Stardust would be a huge improvement.
3 years into the game and the 3* rewards are still the same.
My first 5 star from standard banner was aquila favonia and im happy with it. my bennet got useful weapon
I agree that one potential "fix" is to have an epitomized path for the character you want on the standard banner:
1. You can pick the 4* character or weapon you want and then after e.g., 50 pity, you're guaranteed the 4* you want.
2. You can pick the 5* character or weapon you want and then after e.g., 100 pity, you're guaranteed that 5*.
3. If you already have a C6 character, they're taken out of the pool.
With this system you could finally guarantee some 5* characters like Diluc, where you have no other way to get them besides blind luck. It would also incentivize you to pull on the standard banner with primos.
My personal experience is that I have C6 for Bennett, Xiangling, Heizou, and Kuki Shinobu. I love these characters, but pulling them now feels like a wasted wish or 10-pull. Yes, you get the refund, but your pity isn't reset so literally the next pull is another 4* or 5*. You have to do another 10-pull to guarantee another 4*/5*. I wish I wasn't able to pull for these characters anymore - because instead of having a "C11" Bennett like I do, I might be getting constellations on other 4* characters I want to build.
Similarly, I really wanted a Diluc for like 15 months, and here I am sitting on C3 Mona. Nothing wrong with Mona, but I don't want her.
I once got three Kuki shinobu in a row on standard and I still don’t have beginner constellations ( Lisa,amber,Kaeya)
In tower of fantasy you can find currency for the standard banner in the open world, genshin should definitely do that as well. I think they should reduce the pity hard cap to 40 or 50
The main reason I started playing genshin was Diluc and I didn't get him for over a year, now I only have C1
I get so little wishes for standard banner that the game deletes my previous wish logs when I'm about to wish on it again. So I'm always clueless what my current pity is on the standard banner.
I wonder, would you guys agree for an entire patch dedicated purely on quality of life improvements. That means no big events (just quick small events with primo rewards), no new units, no new maps, no new weapons. Just an entire patch dedicated on retrospection, looking back on previous content that was already released and fix it.
This could be anything like, improving coop exploration, fixing Albedo's hair and best weapon slots, fixing Eula's animation cuts and kit, fixing Klee's clunky animations, fixing Itto's arms, fixing abyss not refreshing cooldowns when restarting, fixing standard banner issues, resin rebalance. Anything really. Getting one patch each year dedicated to all of these. Would you guys want that or let's just move on and get newer things instead.

When I started playing, I spent some primogems on the Standard Banner hoping for a 5* character. Turns out, I got Skyward Pride. From that point, I learned my lesson and didn't waste anymore primogems on the standard and figured I would get luckier the next time. And the next thing I got was Wolf's Gravestone from the Acquaint Fates. Both Claymores are still unleveled and unused, as I dont use Claymore characters. So, definitely got somewhat of a grudge against the standard banner XD
You have a higher chance of dodging Qiqi than Hoyo actually doing something that will benefit the players. Remember kids, it’s supposed to be this bad, it is 100% on purpose
I think the mechanic is that Gachas are designed to Start the most favorable conditions at the very beginning when 1.0 first launches Also with front-loaded incentives, "pre-registration rewards" and the like to get as many people to start playing the game early on as possible. And then DECREASE incentives / INCREASE money and time costs that people can get gradually as more and more content is added - every individua character will get harder and harder to get, by design. This is one of the things to help Instill the fear of missing out on people. For example... in the extreme, Albedo's best weapon is simply unobtanium. Of course I don't have Albedo, don't plan to pull for them, and don't know exactly what their combat skills are anyways, so it probably doesn't matter for me --- But the dilution of the 4-stars on the standard banners is just another way that is the case; If you want a specific 4-star you're going to have to wait for them to pop up on a limited banner, probably, and pray...
I would like an empitimized path for the standard banner because I want to stop pulling Diluc and Qiqi 😢 They are both C5 and I don't use them. In comparison, Mona, Jean and Keqing are all C1. Tighnari and Dehya are C0.
I'm glad I have all of them, but Diluc and Qiqi are my least used standard 5*s.
I really hope if they add something like that to Genshin that they'd count the standard wishes you've already done to the progress as it would take a literal decade to get them after you've exhausted most if not all of your character ascension standard wishes. X.x
I want Qiqi from 1st day of playing (I started playing during version 1.5) so much! I've used about 2000 wishes on both banners, but she's to this day the only standard character I don't have. 😭 I waited for 2+ years to get her already and, honestly, I don't think I will be happy when I finally I get her (if I ever will), because I've waited for her so long that all excitement is gone. I think that empitimized path for the standard characters, if you lose 50/50 would be better, because players don't pull on standard banner that much.
@@Ew-wth They could at least give away a standard 5* character selector, either as anniversary or Lantern Rite reward and then add the epitomized path. That would help both old and new players. Though I doubt that would happen 😑
@@snadianna I have a friend who has the same issue. She's been wanting Qiqi since the beginning and she's the only one in my friend group who doesn't have her. I have C5 Qiqi and Instead she has a c5-6 Keqing, but she doesn't like her 😑
I wish they would do standard character rate up banners that are on a rotation. Like every week or 2 weeks it switches to a different character and there would be no 50/50. Just guarantee to get that character if you pull a 5*.

i think standard wishes should only cost 80 primos, that would incentivize people to use them for filling out their account, and when first starting out to get a good team. I'm still suffering a lack of range attackers, and I lost my first 50/50 for Kokomi, got Qiqi, but was at over 80 wishes both times when I finally got her (Kokomi) like 2 hours before 4.0 dropped lol
Players from 1.0 are lucky. Xiangling, Bennett, Fischl, Xingqui, Beidou and Sucrose are all top tier and have impactful constalletions. But now the standard banner is getting diluted with more and more bad units. Units like Faruzan, Gorou and Sara are useless for me. Dori and Candace are bad. Even Heizou and Lynette while fun add nothing. It feels like absolute shit but I guess like most gacha games, Genshin is also better experience for "old" players
Yeah, I started this year and I get almost the same excitement from 4 stars reruns than 5 stars (I know that wishing just for one of the 4 stars on the banner its a bad idea) but pretty much the only 4 stars that I haven cons on are the ones on the monthly shop or the ones on the limited banner that I wished on.
The ironic thing is, at 1.0 they had no idea Bennet and XQ were top tier units and would place them in B tier, Xiangling and Fischl used to be built as physical characters, I am so serious. Back then, they thought Razor was top tier so they would waste all their materials on him, regret it later and create a new account from 0 lol. While lucky, they were stupid.

As a new player (started playing this spring) I've gotten pretty lucky. I have all of those except Xingqui. But not having Xingqui is pretty annoying, so many teams need him.
On the flip side, a lot of the 5 star weapons in the standard banner are worth getting.
And. . .
Evey other guaranteed 5 star drop is a 5 star wepon from the standard banner.
In comparison to the limited weapon banner, which commonly has atleast one 5 star weapon you dont want, an one you do, the standard banner for 5 star weapons overall is the better route to take.
You spend the same amount as you would for a guaranteed 5 star limited weapon and, its a 5 star weapon you know you can use an want.
Versus the possibility of not getting the 5 star you want from the limited weapon banner.
Granted, right now the limited weapon banner is good for bow users on either weapon.
But that is not the norm for limited weapon banners.
Furthermore. The four star weapons you get from the standard banner overall are generally better than what the limited weapon banner has in its runs.
More often than not, you'll see some four star weapons you want from the limited banner and some you dont.
Versus the standard four weapons where omost every single 4 atar standard weapon is good to have.
So, in conclusion, the standard banner is great for 5 star and 4 star weapons. But the characters are up to chance.
But in HSR you can pick your desire character ONCE. After you reach the goal and pick one this option dissapears and you will not be able to pick second one.

I wished on the standard banner when I was transitioning from beginner to intermediate player. Got lucky with a lot of staples such as Kuki and Diona. Eventually got skyward spine. At the time I was upset that I got a weapon and not a character but now am thankful as I don’t have to choose between Raiden and Xiangling on who gets the catch.
I am still missing Keqing and have been playing a month or two after launch it's insane.

That's exactly why I roll for Tighnari and Dehya, because it took more almost 3 years to get my first Mona, and I'm a Welkin player.
I also never got the Skyward Claymore, Aquina Favonia, Wolf's Gravestone, Amos Bow nor that green spear that's supposed to be pretty strong which is supposed to be in standard banner, not even a single copy.
Mad that I only got Xingqui at AR57 because I PICKED him in Lantern Rite
Playing for a year now, and the standard banner is basically just a second weapon banner to me. 2 Skyward Prides, 2 Skyward Atlas (though not mad about it), A bunch of qiqi's and jean's. One Tighnari (not mad about it at all), and two mona's. Still waiting for Diluc. :(
To the standard banner is only there as a anti-player feature, for players to spend by mistake

This! They also have a banner for standard S-rank characters that rotates around every few weeks. Got my Chrome Glory there and I'm so grateful for it.
They should seriously add a character selector to the standard banner or do rate ups like limited banners. It'll soon become impossible to get certain characters
Also, consider that I’ve been playing since 1.4 and… I have no Qiqi. I have the majority of the limited 5stars, but I’ve never lost pity to a Qiqi. Qiqi is one issue, but if I’d had that problem with Mona, I’d be mad
I'm actually so glad I got Keqing from standard she's so fun to play. But I'd love to have lost prayers for my wanderer or at least a few copies of Widsith but the probability is so low I hate it.
i actually got super super lucky one time on standard! i was really upset over not having Tighnari and decided to waste primos on it.. and i got him! i was so fucking happy but i also still don't have Dehya so 💀 got another keqing tho. really happy about that. (this is sarcastic)

Amber found dead in a ditch
Not gonna lie, I camped in the standard banner for Kaeya cons, Diluc and WGS and absolutely spent primos and starglitter. I wanted those characters so badly that I was willing to blow resources on them. I achieved C6 Kaeya with help from the shop, and finally got Diluc at the same time as C6 Kaeya.
I've built around WGS (now at R4) cause Fashion Impact that I have achieved an 82/202 ratio. I know people love to rag on Diluc but he's so simple to use and his skill is really satisfying. He'll always be outshined by Hu Tao but I don't like her playstyle and am indifferent to her character. I can consistently hit 65k, 70k melt shots with his skill and he rarely ever leaves my party.
However, Diluc has avoided me for a year and I'm stuck at C1 while Mona, Keqing, and Qiqi are C5858383 and I hate it. I need a restraining order for Mona, I just want her to leave me alone.

Started the game in late 2021 and it's only two days ago that I finally got my first Jean, the standard I wanted the most

Imo, we definitely need an epitomised path for the standard banner to allow us to choose the 5* character we want after losing the 50/50 one or two times
TBH 3 stars weapons become simply useless after a while, i would rather have refine ores or even artifacts at random (rarity and sets). At least thats universally usefull such as experience books and whatnot (another thing to enter in the banner as rewards). Also, characters such as Tighnari or the newer ones would become a hassle to new players as they need to dulge a lot into the history line to go past lvl 20. And a pity system of 300ish or so to actually choose what you want is really not a big deal, in fact, is a little crum that costs mihoyo NOTHING cuz, as you pointed out already, there is no incentivise or reasoning to pull in the standard banner.
Coming from someone that just finally got my Deyha after months of waiting. It's a pain definitely.
I think I'm just missing my Skyward Harp though on the standard banner.
Edit: I'm guilty of spending on the standard banner, but at this point I'm just bored. 😂
I don't want or need every character from standard if I get a copy of Yaoyao or Kaeya, I want to get another one, not a increase chance of getting whatever other character I know im never gonna use, same as 5* I still don't have Diluc or Thignari but I know i f I got them I would never use them, I want more cons from Keqing or Dehya, characters that I use.
I lost my 50/50 Yelan to Mona, which to be honest as sad as it was, not so bad. Wanted Mona from the start actually.
I recently made a new acc where i bought a little bit of primos and rushed to c6 r5 yelan and lyney and i must say, for yelan pulls i won, won, lost to tighnari, lost to jade spear, won then lost to tighnari and for lyney i lost to wolfs, lost to tighnari again, won, lost to qiqi lost to jade spear and won so i must admit the losses where actually very generous xD, for those wondering why i only pulled up to c5 im just trying em out before maxing their cons, talents and lvls😂

Standard banner wishes are really a problem. Something that HSR did well imo is add wishes to the simulated universe. You get pulls every week. Its much better than what genshin is doing.
I don't have any bad experiences with the Standard Banner. Get my C6 Tighnari a couple of days ago. He is hitting so hard 🥳
I am so lucky to have a C6 mona, however, i really want a wolves gravestone, an unforged, and a C2 Jean :( been stuck at C1 forever…
They should change the cost to 70 primos per wish or they can provide us missions to get more wishes for the standard banner.

Yeah as a somewhat new player its daunting to get the older 4* characters, but ill just be patient and wait for them to run on the new banners or be in the shop.
I feel that even if Hoyoverse added epitomized path for standard banner (which they should), they would just reset the path after every patch, to fuck with us.
I still haven't got a single copy of Tignari or Dehya and im missing a loooot of 5* weapons. Id love Skyward Harp
something I don't like about the standard five stars, is that they add other units' signature but not the actual standard units.
also I think standard pity should be less that's how it is in HI3
they need to make the standard wishes more common, unlike tower of fantasy the standard banner characters are quite viable, they give hundreds of pulls on the standard banner on tower of fantasy, genshin however barely gives any pulls on the standard banner, and i'm not going to spend primos to pull it. make standard wishes uncommon or rare drops from chests. imagine if you could claim an acquainted fate from accomplishments in addition to primos?
5 Jeans, 5 Tighnaris, 5 Dilucs, 2 Dehyas, 2 Qiqis, 1 Keqing, 0 Monas. And of course the second 5 star I rolled on my alt account was Mona.
I only wished there around 5-6 times.. but only when I'm near to pity and couldn't wait for free fates.
At the very least, Hoyo should remove the purchase limit for acquainted fates in the stardust exchange.
i agree. i have my keqing on C9 and i hate it by now. I would love to get Dehya and Tighnari at least once.
I joined in april 2022, I still don't have a copy of Sucrose and I've wanted her since I began playing, standard banner would rather give me more copies of xinyan, and even kaeya, amber and lisa, I even wished on Ayaka's last banner, I ended up wishing so much that I got a 5 star and I STILL didn't get a single Sucrose, I hate it so much, I really wish there was a way to guarantee a four star
The real problem is they're adding too much stuff to the banner.
What they should do is make the standard banner give you a screen where you need to Rank characters and weapons by populating 3 slots for "wanted" options at 5-star rarity, and fill in 5 slots for "wanted" options at 4-star rarity that then get a favored drop rate over the other options at that rarity level.
Then exactly like the Limited banner.. do a 50/50 every other drop at that rarity level between getting a Completely random one, And getting one of the ones in your list. Easy fix if the developers would be willing to put in a little bit of effort here.
Maybe there should be a extra banner like a legacy banner for old 4 stars and old 5 stars and then make the standard for new ones
I found your channel the morning of Fontaines launch and have been appreciating your videos so much. You speak so calmly and so informative. It's been awesome binging on your videos while learning more about stuff even tho I'm ar60 but that's how nice your videos are.

Also exploring fontaine and getting Yelan after much exploration and work has been so cool for me and watching these has become part of the whole Fontaine experience for me!
Let's not confuse what we wish Standard Banner was with what Standard Banner really is.
Technically speaking, the purpose of Standard Banner is to give new spending players opportunity to get decent amount of random 4-star characters and weapons early on so they have something more than just free starter characters to play with. Emphasis is on "random", it's not the place to get you Xingqiu, Bennett, or Sucrose. For that purpose, standard banner is better than limited banners because the variety of 4-star stuff coming out of limited banner is - well, limited. But for anybody who's not willing to throw their money out of the window Standard Banner is just a place to spend whatever standard fates we get from the game and enjoy random stuff that drops out of it. Spending primogems on Standard Banner was a mistake even back in 1.0.
But I'm definitely not against Standard Banner getting more convenient. There's chance more features from HSR will eventually ported to Genshin if they're found useful.
That's the issue though is they may end up with characters they can't actually play with. Like he highlighted with Thoma, some characters you'll just be completely locked out of playing which discourages players from playing..... Let alone all the ones from regions that you would have to travel to outside of the story progression such as Sumeru and now Fontaine. Even if some of those aren't locked you don't necessarily want to travel all the way across the map before you're ready.
Last part exactly what happened to me. Started playing late April this year when it was Nahida's banner. Since I was really new & didn't really know how the game works (i.e pity, team comps) I just saw the characters I think I would like
In Liyue I met Qiqi & Keqing and I instantly aimed to get them since I saw them on the banner. Wasted around 6000 primos for that. I couldve gotten Nahida. Thanks Hoyo.
they should lower pity on standard banner to incentives using your primos on acquaints faiths more often

The only standard 5 stars I'm still missing are Qiqi, Keqing, Aquila Favonia, and Wolf's Gravestone. I'm literally on my 5th Diluc (C4) right now.

I spent primogems because i was desperate for a bennett. Now i know it was a miracle i got him in only 30 wishes. I'm only wishing on it now for copies of Kaeya (my main) who's literally still at c1 lol
Trust me just spend 2 years buying him with starglitter it is not worth the tiny chance of getting him from pulling. He doesn’t really need cons… the only one that truly improves from cons is Amber. Lisa and Kaeya are very useable at C0 and the cons are just slight improvements.
I just want a Favonius Sword. It's gonna make me pull on the weapon banner at some point. Which I'm assuming is the purpose.
I feel really bad for new players pulling characters like Layla or Kaveh who need ascension materials from deep in Sumeru though. I'm sitting there in Star Rail myself, with cool characters I can't build

I feel your pain about the 5 star problem. I had a C6 Diluc and Keqing, as well as a C3 Jean and Qiqi before finally getting Mona a few months ago. I've been playing since around the 2nd week the game came out. At this point, it's tough for me to find a good team for her since I've built up so many teams without her in mind at this point.
EDIT: And, yeah I think I spent my first 2 months spending primos on the standard banner.

I’ve been playing for two years and I finally got my first Mona on a 50/50. I’ve been wanting her since I first started, but I finally accepted it would never happen. Now that I have her, I’m not sure how to fit her into my team.
I think one realistic solution would be to have multiple versions of the standard banner with different 5 stars and 4 stars featured which would have much higher chance to be pulled. That way you can select where you want to spend your fates and have better chances of getting what you want. I think this is sorely needed as they keep adding new charachters, my chances of getting Jean are much slimmer now than they would be in the earlier versions and I heard that they're planning to add another charachter from fontaine. Same goes for the 4 stars, how am I supposed to get kuki or sucrose when there is so many niche or straight up bad 4 stars. But yeah also I dont understand why are they so stingey with the blue fates when you can you can only get stuff you wouldnt need to pull out your credit card for anyway.
I remember putting about 100 of my earlier wishes in standard thinking it has a few 5 stars on it and it's better value. Then was soo happy to get diluc and his weapon. Yet after a year of building him my new pyro char yoimiya can easily out dps it. It really feels like I wasted a year.
since the beginning of the game I wanted the skyward harp for my childe and after 3 years I still haven't got it, what I would implement is that you get to choose 1 5 star Item(character or weapon ) like the curses in the current weapon banner and that if you don't get it as the current 5 star wish you are guaranteed to get it on the next
You are not alone that happens to me too, I have many weapons that I do not even use but I never ever got a skyward harp!

Imo hoyo should give use one pull for the standard banner as an additional reward for doing our dailies. It would easily make pulling there more casual and enjoyable
I would add the Liyue Series weapons, Albedo and Klee, but make it a 50/50, so if you win you get a token to get what you want or something at random if you lose.
regional banners AND 4* banners. Easiest solution to fix ALL the wishing issues

It's been almost 3 years and I still don't have to only weapon I ever wanted from the standard banner 😭 (Skyward Harp)
Skyward Pride is a very solid option for Sayu, due to ER% substats, high ATK for better healing and useful 8% dmg increase (increasing the Swirls dmg as well)
Other than that, it's actually really OK with Itto and Eula, because ER substats allowing to have pure offensive artifacts.
skyward pride is good on eula. wolf er sands or pride atk sands. i don't have wolf so idk the difference between them but going thru snowtomb and bacon, i find pride has been the best.
I just got Jean from the SB. I walk around Fontaine with her. She blends well with the motif.

I need Xingqiu so bad. I lost the 50/50 for Yelan so really need him. So many teams rely on having xingqiu or yelan its insane.

@DevilsPig if you can amass 34 glitters from wishing, yeah. I used mine that I had collected from April to July and finally got Fischl. I won't be able to get 34 for Xingchiou now. :(

I might be lucky, but I noticed something with the standard banner. Any time a new character was added to the standard banner I would almost always get them shortly after. I even got Tighnari the same way.
I like the path one, it actually sounds like a good idea.
Invite system is way better than increasing chances so that you evenly get everything. It isn't really gacha anymore at that point(which is hoyo's entire business model)
Been playing for almost 3 years and i just got my first jade spear from standard. Have 5 skyward swords though.
