- I bought the cheapest american silver eagle on ebay and test it to see if it is real or fake. This video shows different ways to test silver and to test american silver eagles to sort out fakes. If you are buying silver on ebay then you need to be very careful to make sure that you are buying legitimate silver. If you are trying to get the lowest price on silver bullion for silver stacking then you need to be buying from reputable dealers or you could have a set back. The main things that I learned from this video are to not buy silver from China, only buy silver that is sold from a reputable dealer, and if it seems too good to be true then it probably is too good to be true.

When I first started buying Silver Eagles, I bought one one ( i believe it was from a seller in Israel)....it was fake..........I wrote the seller telling him that his listing was deceptive........he refunded my money...and never asked for the coin back........now i use the coin to teach others about how good some counterfeits are.

This is the reason I stopped buying Chinese Panda coins. They counterfeit everything and when it comes time to sell I’m not a dealer and who’s going to take a chance that it’s not fake.

I saw an "eagle" on ebay that was selling at a "too good to be true" price. Checked out where it would be shipping from if I were to order. It would have shipped from China. I did not buy because it ships from China. Thank you for confirming my decision to "not" purchase. I purchase from legitimate dealers only and my poured silver has all come from baggins/dragons.

One of your better videos. I've seen those questionable listings too. I put one on my watch list and sure enough, the account started getting negative feedback after 2 weeks. And YES I did report it to eBay when I first noticed it and the listing stayed up for almost a month after I reported it. Buyer Beware.

Wonderful example especially for newer stackers to stay away from sites that could have fakes. Major dealers online will do they’re best to never have fakes since it will ruin their reputation.

I paid a legit price for the 10 silver eagles I bought on eBay Last Summer and they really look the part but the weight and size with the only way to determine thought it was fake so I took a torch to it and broke it in half and you could see you all copper core and the magnet reacted to it at the same as silver. 😒 you definitely got to be careful when buying on eBay I don't do a really much anymore just because of all the issues I've had. Keeping us up to date with the new fakes is a must. Thanks silver dragons😊👍

I submitted a formal complaint to the Secret Service whether got delivered from eBay or not I don't know but yeah I expose the channel cuz right after I bought those coins his feedback went south very fast. The funny thing is they were using an fake address in the states and when I sent the package back it came directly back to me. 5 reps and 2 statements. Im glad that ebay is protecting their buyers with money back guarantee but also makes them more diligent cuz now they're losing money. 😊 i haven't bought on ebay for a long time but i dl definitely got a crash course on research Authentication of coins. I think that's also reason why eBay brought in NGC the help for Consumer Protection👍

regarding the readability of the screen on your scale. You should buy a polarized acetate sheet from ebay($5) you could cut out to the shape and size of the display readout. It's just an idea. It may or may-not work :) but if it doesn't you could make a cool polarized camera filter for your phone haha...

I bought a lot of 10 on eBay a couple months ago for $165. They were shipped from Arizona and when I got them they passed all preliminary tests, they did end up failing the specific gravity test tho. I took them to my LCS to confirm and they were 100% fake. I submitted a claim and eBay refunded 100% of my purchase price including shipping.

Hi. I have a 2013 proof American eagle. Which flips the wrong way. Done all Test on it except the acid test. It is bang on with every other test. Can't it be a error mint coin?

As soon as you flip that I started laughing. I wonder how many people wouldn't catch that right off the bat. This would be fun to put on a plaque on a wall as a talking piece. I've got a bunch of fakes that are slapped as well even graded that I got from a friend for really cheap. Thankfully I wasn't the one that paid full price for them.
I have a pair of two 2020 early release cased coins that were fake. I only found one when checking my other’s no longer in a fake PGS holder
Just an FYI, the Design of the Gold and Silver Eagles will be changing starting in 2021 I believe, a design has not been selected yet from what I've heard. But supposedly the US Mint will be incorporating more "Modern" changes to it's counterfeit security measures; this may be similar to what the RCM (Royal Canadian Mint) has recently done with their Silver Maple Leafs. Key word is “substantial”. Without the specific definition of that regulation but taking a guess, that means you have to buy a large amount of these things, not just a single fake coin under 10$. They are looking for people deliberately or neglectfully flooding the market.

I bought one of these a month ago at my local flea market for $25 I didn't have a magnet on me first test I did was a magnet when I got home was so upset. I also got a Elemental bar from him it turned out be real. At the moment I thought I was getting a proof 2019 eagle at a fair to good price in a capsule, I couldn't believe I didn't even think of the flip test at the moment. I have been back to the flea market every weekend since I have not seen this individual and his wife who are set up that day. I've been following silver Joker and silver Slayer and salivating and checking your show out a lot liking it especially the coin shop. I guess long story short no education is free

If you buy anything from Ebay if it's not from a company that's well known you are most likely buying a fake, it's almost a certainty, if it's from etsy or Alibaba its definitely FAKE.

On a side note the USA taxpayer subsidizes the shipping on these China eBay sales. If I was to sell an ASE it would cost me between $3.50 - $4 to ship it within the USA, but the Chinesse seller only pays a few cents for international shipping. I thought we are in a trade war with China but we continue to provide subsidies based on China being a third world country which apparently it no longer is.

What I would do, is auction it off on eBay, even with "copy" written on it, and attacked with the bolt cutters. Take the money raised from the auction and donate it to a charity.

The price told you it was fake, before you bought it. Coming from China was a negative factor.
Always keep cellphones and magnets away from you digital scales. It will ruin your scales or you will have to recalibrate them everytime you use them.

0:54 Darn, this fake coin comes from Dongguan City....That's where I am from :(....an industrial town in Guangdong Province in Southern China, in between Shenzhen and provincial capital Guangzhou, about 50 mins to an hour drive from Hong Kong (minus the custom clearance time). City's packed with factories producing goods (both legit and fake LOL) for all around the world, nicknamed "Factory of the World". Check your computers, iPhones, iPad, Xbox, PS or whatever electronic products to see if it's produced in Dongguan :)

The upper case U is incorrect on the fakes, or at least for now depending on the years. Also, I have scraped off the silver plating on many of these fake coins. Ebay should have a team dedicated to instabanning all of these con artist sellers.
Well the packaging the silver eagle was in said Made in China and I can guarantee you they have never made them in China so yeah.....
1. The word FREE at the end of the listing denoted "Free of silver" like food touted as free of dyes or gluten 🤣
2. I think the law as you read would apply to eBay as a reseller format and not you the end consumer.
3. Never buy Chinese crap if you can avoid it. If it seems too good to be true it most likely is.

I dont buy any silver online even from legit bullion dealers ( jm, sd, provident). My local guy sells to me for the same price plus or minus a few pennies here and there depending what I'm after. I like to inspect my bullion before I take delivery personally. And who wants to wait on snail mail. Just like my butcher Sam, my plumber Bill and my auto mechanic Earl, I can always trust and never go wrong with chris and Jim my LCS guys. Buy local. Pay cash 😉😁
