So when I buy a gold bar it is 999.9 pure. But gold necklaces would be less pure to make it more durable? So is a pure gold necklace at 999 just about the same as a gold bar at 999.9 ?

If 24K gold is so malleable, why do people want it? Serious question. This is an interesting video.
There are a lot of uses of gold. Electronic companies use roughly around 50% of the world supply, jewlery uses a lot. Personally I buy .9999 fine gold for financial security just in case times get rough. Other than that I have no use for it.
24k doesn’t rust or oxidize the way lower karats can; it’s also medically safe, which is why it’s preferred for new piercings.

Hate to be that guy, but no. Nearly all of the gold in the solar system most likely originated from the collision of two neutron stars orbiting nearby the stellar nursery where our solar system coalesced. The gold was distributed throughout all the planets, moons, and asteroids as they formed billions of years ago, but the majority is surely inside the Sun. Earth has certainly received gold from collisions, but the vast majority has been here the whole time.
