They are very different beasts. One is a luxury car, the other a sports car. I own more than one "911 derivative", one is indeed an old banger, the other not really a poverty solution.
No. There is an emergency release wire. Tucked away under the front bumper cover. The front bumper needs to be removed to access this, or, the car needs to get on a ramp.
You better be careful there, you just might end up with that old banger on hand, if you want to bid a grand on it 😅 As an eagle-eyed commenter pointed out...we didn't film in the actual car, it's a clapped-out 986
you OBVIOUSLY don't know Porsche very well. 1) You are NOT sitting in a 911, you are sitting in a Boxster 2) There is the power port on the fuse block you can use 3) There is a cable in the front wheel well / behind front bumper to mechanically open frunk Your comment that the power port in the fuse box doesn't exist tells me that the frunk is cable operated and has the levers for frunk and engine cover releases. If they are solenoid released, there IS the port in the fuse block.
A bit of artistic license was required, as we had actually sorted the issue on the 996, and the owner had left us. We were temporarily out of 996😅 The point is still valid, though. Would you happen to know how to access the release cable, without applying violence to rip the bumper cover off, with the 2 top bolts still fastened ? (The ones under the frunk lid ) The levers were locked, so could not be operated.
@@Looney21You can rarely access the emergency cable without removing the arch liner, which might require removal of the front bumper, which cannot be done without the hood being opened.
In the footwell fusebox there’s a mock fuse, you can jump from that and the door hinge….
Thanks, but this is an early model/".1", so does not have this nice feature
The paradox is the 911 is the poor mans 928

Pretty sure there is a "hidden" mechanical release under the dash as well for precisely this reason.

@@thefreedomguyuk well thats lame.
@@MattH-wg7ou Agree !
Because of this issue, I decided to buy a 2006 Toyota instead.
Just power the car through the cigarette lighter or find any fuse to kl15
Awww....bugger.....
Where were you when we needed you?? ❤
It's a write-off mate, only good for scrap. I'll give you £1k for it

Try reading your owners manual !
Says use the emergency release cable. Which cannot be accessed unless the vehicle is on a ramp.

Mate why can’t you jumpstart it?
Can't acces neither engine bay nor front trunk.
