to be fair for someone who is getting into drones for the first time it is nice to have a comparison on why is it better or worse than others. Just information is only useful for those who know other DJI products before hand. Not saying that this video is bad in any way, I wanted the unboxing experience and I got it but it is definitely not as helpful in terms of info rich as others.
Just a quick comment. Your clear comprehensive instruction tipped me over into the Mini 3 Pro owners group...as my first drone (love the DJI cameras to start). Mainly only need one in the drone to capture your footage. A memory card in the RC is only really needed if you plan on doing screen recordings of the fly app Like if you’re making tutorials in that for UA-cam or something similar
quick question, my Pro 3 arrives monday. do I need to charge the battery before doing the setup OR can I put the battery in the drone, plug it in, run the setup that way while charging. same thing with the handset. charge the handset while doing the setup? or charge it first. i will be in a hurry to get out and fly. prob wont come til late afternoon.

Hello, I have a question that confuses me. I bought this drone second hand. Even though I reset it to factory settings, the first installation screen did not appear. (Country selection etc.) I ask this because; CE mode is valid in my country, can I switch to FCC mode by selecting another country on that initial setup screen?
Sold my mavic 2 zoom in Aug 2020, and since them I've been missing the flying experience a bit and now for the past few weeks I've been really tempted to get a new drone. I think I'll grab a mini 3 pro later on this summer, since its below 250g, so I'll be able to bypass some of the regulations. Also the video quality and overall features actually remind me of the mavic 2 zoom quite a bit, so this will probably be a pretty familiar drone for me to fly without any major surprises, even tho the price is a bit crazy for a mini series drone.
I got mine today and your video will definitely help me out. It’s not my first drone but it’s my first DJI drone. Graduated to where the big boys play.
Unfortunately it is a scam I have reported it. A lot of UA-camrs are being hammered by these types of scams over the last couple months I remove several hundred every week

You only need one in the controller if you plan on doing screen recordings all the content is stored on the memory card in the drone when filming. I’ve never heard of the problem of a memory card not going in have you tried a different memory card, perhaps there’s a defect with the memory card you’re trying to insert. If you still can’t get it could be a defect with the memory card slot of the drone I will then contact DJI
Yes you can use any USB charger. However it’s best to use at least 30 W. So older phone chargers that are like 5 W will technically work, but it will take a long time to charge.

@@AirPhotography So far it's pretty good. I find the DJI RC to be quite fantastic compared to my Iphone 12 Pro Max. I only did a few tests, and they were good. I find the focus on the mini 3 to be a bit off especially when taking off. It's alot more quiet than the mini 2. I was also surprised that the LEDs on the legs only work when you're not filming, so I found that out while trying a night flight and the LEDs went out. Range on the DJI RC is about on par with the Mini 2 RC. I'm going to play around with it some more before my final thought on it. I'm still trying to figure out H.264 vs H.265 and normal vs 10bit D-Cinelike. I wasn't aware that Davinci Resolve can't edit 10bit D-Cinelike in H.264 but it can edit 10bit D-Cinelike in H.265, so I found that a bit odd.
Finally! A lot of brilliant features you can enjoy on the Mini 3 Pro. Just love that it can perform like a big drone but it’s much portable and with fewer restrictions. Hope to finally fly it soon and would be great to experience the new DJI RC too.

Do you want at least a 30 watt charger but you can go higher. I created a beginners guide for this drone as well, which goes into a lot more detail about that it’s on my channel under the Mini 3 playlist.
You need to be connected to the internet through the controller. If you were using the app on your phone then it would just use your phone's wifi connection. No need to be connected to a laptop for either the RC controller or the phone app.
Great video. I just got the mini 3 Pro for Christmas and am a total rookie at the drone thing. I got the basic controller (no screen) and I assume that I'll have to connect it to my phone first and then do the firmware update? Correct? Is it worth another $309 USD to get the controller with the screen? Thanks!

Still waiting to pull the trigger on one, and these issues are holding me back.
I did my first TestFlight this morning and I can already confirm range is definitely an issue with the DJIRC. I was getting weak signal at 250 m out in an area where I can normally fly 1500 m with no issue with a Mini 2. Going to do a lot more testing. I’m gonna pair to my RCN1 and see if there’s any difference. I know over the past couple weeks I’ve read a lot of complaints about port range but I was hoping it was just the CE version because they are lower powered. It appears the North American version may have the same problem

Great, and very informative video! I subscribe to you a couple months ago because I knew I would be getting one of these. I just bought the Mavic mini 3 pro, the DJI RC controller, the fly more plus kit and several other accessories to go along with it this morning from Amazon. I have flown RC airplanes and helicopters and we always make it a practice to turn the controller on first and check the controls before powering up the aircraft so the aircraft doesn’t have a sudden power up and injure someone. I see that you do that in reverse. Is that the proper procedure for drones?
In my opinion yes it is. 700 nit decently bright. It’s nice and convenient, quick deployment of your drone and you don’t have to worry about Shawn compatibility for App update compatibility

Hey Shawn, I’m from Canada too… Where can you fly your Mini that you can’t fly your heavier drones? (eg. the Air 2S). What difference does the weight make in terms of where you can and cannot fly?
They are not as heavily regulated. For example you can fly closer to airports. However provincial and national parks are still prohibited as well as military installations

I had a problem as well and I have Fios Best WIFI. I walked the remote over to it and did a retry and it connected. The problem after that is it takes so long for the updates and setting up that the drone will cutoff automatically because of heat. This is a great video, however, I would like to have seen it extend to initial launch. I've spent close to 2 hours with this and I haven't gotten it to fly yet. 🤦🏿♂️. There were more updates than that firmware that applied. I believe there were 3 for me. The one he mentions is the longest so I suggest a cool place. I'm inside. But AC. 😆 I just want to see it fly. I don't have the time today to do anything with it. I just want to see it fly, move the camera and that's it. The lack of instructions eith this is horrible along with no power charger. It maybe cool once it gets going, but right now it isn't because of the issues that have come up delaying what should have been no longer than a 20-30 process from turning it on to flight. Which is another thing. The 007 code to turn it on and again no documentation is not good. It seems dji did a lot of assumption with this. 🤨
I just don't like the skinny arms in front of the dji mini 3, but I understand that it helps the drones big ugly front end to stabilize it in the air..

Always nice to see an unboxing you really get to see what comes in the box. I've noticed there isn't a propeller strap with the Mini 3 Pro like with the other Mini series.
Another Excellent Video. I do have one request though. When showing the new controller screen or the fly app, would it be possible to have the screen level with the video camera? Yes I realize that I am being another Canadian "nit picker". I am still waiting for my new Mini 3 (First ever drone)
Have the Mavic 3 which suits for all things down under, however i see the Mini 3 as a great overseas travel option. Being a lot lighter and under that 250g to use in Canada without a license. I also believe the new DJI RC Controller will become compatible with the Mavic 3 which will be a good reason to purchase Mini 3 with that controller.
Just added your channel to my favourites. I'm interested to see how well you reckon the Mini 3 Pro stacks up against the Nano+ - more than anything in the camera department. I really want an unbiased opinion as to which filter is better in general and especially for low-light: the RGGB of the Mini or the RYYB of the Nano.
@@AirPhotography - I like your delivery. A lot of the vids I've watched so far are either DJI 'fanboys' with Mini 3's shipped to them by DJI for free, or cool shouty dudes with baseball caps, so I'll be keeping an eye out for your future observations. I'm really on the fence between these two drones. A great deal of what I do requires the ability to shoot (RAW) stills in low-light conditions so the wide apertures of both would be a bonus. Whether the RYYB aces the RGGB or not will shift the decision in favour of the better drone. The fact that the lens on the Nano+ is Leica definitely has me leaning in that direction already.
Will be interested if you test the actual bit rate for video using different settings. While Dji claims up to 150Mbs, several reviewers have said that about 100Mbs is the best they've seen.
Can you do a hyperlapese tutorial to get those cool night head light streaks videos and how to edit them to brighten the glow of the streaks without brightening the rest of the video and such like you see all over the internet of drone videos? Please. Also I just got the drone and that is one of the things I want to create.

Yes, if you get the coverage from Dji, it doesn’t matter where you are if you damage it or lose it. You will be covered in any country.

I see USB C chargers that charge for USB C and USB A that are 100 watt. Is there an issue with those to charge the Mini 3?
I use my Mavic three charger which is 65 W works perfectly. He won’t damage the drone it’ll only charge at the fastest speed that it is capable of
I am unable to connect this remote to my wifi, apparently there is an "issue" with this, any suggestions?
I had a problem as well and I have Fios Best WIFI.
I walked the remote over to it and did a retry and it connected.
The problem after that is it takes so long for the updates and setting up that the drone will cutoff automatically because of heat.
This is a great video, however, I would like to have seen it extend to initial launch.
I've spent close to 2 hours with this and I haven't gotten it to fly yet. 🤦🏿♂️.
There were more updates than that firmware that applied. I believe there were 3 for me. The one he mentions is the longest so I suggest a cool place. I'm inside. But AC. 😆

The lack of instructions eith this is horrible along with no power charger.
It maybe cool once it gets going, but right now it isn't because of the issues that have come up delaying what should have been no longer than a 20-30 process from turning it on to flight.
Which is another thing.
The 007 code to turn it on and again no documentation is not good.
It seems dji did a lot of assumption with this. 🤨
I just don't like the skinny arms in front of the dji mini 3, but I understand that it helps the drones big ugly front end to stabilize it in the air..
Hi : am brand new to drones . Just got one query: how do you charge the battery ??? Lookalike you buy drone package but can’t charge the battery . As there nothing in the box to charge up . Just the cable . Can’t believe you buy the package. But can’t charged the battery !!
As most pieces of technology are today you do not get a charging brick so you have to buy it separately sadly..

Always nice to see an unboxing you really get to see what comes in the box. I've noticed there isn't a propeller strap with the Mini 3 Pro like with the other Mini series.
A large rubber band works really well and found one free :)
Another Excellent Video. I do have one request though. When showing the new controller screen or the fly app, would it be possible to have the screen level with the video camera? Yes I realize that I am being another Canadian "nit picker". I am still waiting for my new Mini 3 (First ever drone)

Have the Mavic 3 which suits for all things down under, however i see the Mini 3 as a great overseas travel option. Being a lot lighter and under that 250g to use in Canada without a license. I also believe the new DJI RC Controller will become compatible with the Mavic 3 which will be a good reason to purchase Mini 3 with that controller.

How did you charge the battery?
It is rechargeable by USB-C however, a charging brick is not provided. You will need to purchase a 30 W charger.
Just added your channel to my favourites. I'm interested to see how well you reckon the Mini 3 Pro stacks up against the Nano+ - more than anything in the camera department. I really want an unbiased opinion as to which filter is better in general and especially for low-light: the RGGB of the Mini or the RYYB of the Nano.
Yes indeed that will be coming. I’m starting out with this kind of a general impressions of the mini 3 and my finding so far
@@AirPhotography - I like your delivery. A lot of the vids I've watched so far are either DJI 'fanboys' with Mini 3's shipped to them by DJI for free, or cool shouty dudes with baseball caps, so I'll be keeping an eye out for your future observations. I'm really on the fence between these two drones. A great deal of what I do requires the ability to shoot (RAW) stills in low-light conditions so the wide apertures of both would be a bonus. Whether the RYYB aces the RGGB or not will shift the decision in favour of the better drone. The fact that the lens on the Nano+ is Leica definitely has me leaning in that direction already.
Will be interested if you test the actual bit rate for video using different settings. While Dji claims up to 150Mbs, several reviewers have said that about 100Mbs is the best they've seen.
Can you do a hyperlapese tutorial to get those cool night head light streaks videos and how to edit them to brighten the glow of the streaks without brightening the rest of the video and such like you see all over the internet of drone videos? Please.
Also I just got the drone and that is one of the things I want to create.
