    These beautifully machined pieces of billet aluminum are crucial in any direct injected car. They work to collect oil and moisture passing through your vacuum system and to prevent it from entering back into your intake where it would collect on the back of the intake valves and gunk up the inside of your engine, causing carbon build-up. The Boomba Racing Catch Can is meant to be easy to install, and easy to service. With a mounting bracket that makes it quick and easy to remove, draining this catch can is super convenient. This catch can utilizes a two stage outlet to ensure that the oil within the vapor going through the can is trapped.

      would it be easier to just get a new breather plate and replace the whole thing?

    • @PlatinumG

      Well i mean if you're not a lazy ass and actually remove the intake manifold completely, it would have been completely pain free. It takes an extra 3-4minutes to remove the intake manifold and then you can just heat up the hose to the green elbow with a heat gun/lighter for a couple of seconds and it literally slides off like butter. Work smarter not harder.

    Very useful video and it will make installing my catch can way easier. I seen a few people arguing on another brand of catch can which doesn't say which port is inlet/outlet., what could happen if they install inlet/outlet on the CC the wrong way around?

    If I understand it right, there are 2 independent catch cans installed on this engine, is that correct? I am looking for a catch can to install on my 2016 ford fusion 2.0 4 cylinder ecoboost. Instead of using a 2 outlet catch can and 2 check valves could I use 2 independent catch cans, one for the PCV line and another for the turbo? Which product would you recommend? Thanks!

    • @BoombaRacing
      @BoombaRacing  7 років тому

      There are a few differences between the stage 1 catch can and stage 2 catch can. The stage 1 catch can works on the low pressure CCV side of you vacuum system in between your valve cover and intake tubing. The stage 2 can works on the high pressure side and works between your PCV valve and intake manifold. If you are looking to run one can only, we’d recommend stage 2 because it is going to catch a lot more oil and contaminants than the stage one will. Our cans use a two-step outlet filtration system to prevent contaminants from making their way back into the engine.
      The only one we list for the Fusion is Stage 2 because that is the more popular choice anyways.

    Just curious, why wouldn't Ford engineer this basic application into their initial design? I must say, it would make sense given the fact that maintenance, especially in this application would benefit the vehicles performance & longevity? I just purchased a 2014 Focus ST and love the car.

    • @BoombaRacing
      @BoombaRacing  6 років тому +1

      Most people that are non-enthusiasts that purchase vehicles have a very hard time keeping up with basic maintenance items. A lot of people have a hard enough time remembering to change their oil. If Ford were to implement an oil catch can system that had to be emptied every so often, a lot of non-enthusiast owners would end up letting that can fill up which would introduce more problems into the mix from neglect.

      I can see your point. A shame that a quality product can be neglected and misused. Well I for one will be diligent when it comes to maintenance and use. I plan on retaining as much value for the dollar as possible. My car has only 24k miles I'm the 2nd owner and enjoy the car to the fullest.
      Thanks for the reply.

    Hallo BoombaRacingInc firstly thanks for the vid., i did a catch can installation last year and found your video just now. And i am just wondering if i want to place 2 catch cans for more efficient work, can i do some harm if for the stage 2 PCV i just use regular catch can and not the special as you provide with different pressure handling? (i already have one extra piece of the regular OCC from last year) Thanks for any advises.

    • @BoombaRacing
      @BoombaRacing  8 років тому

      Hey there! As long as the can has some way of trapping the material going through the vacuum lines, you could use a can different than ours. However our can features a two-step outlet filtration system and one of the largest capacities on the market.

    How true is is. Running 93 shell v power helps keep the chambers clean?

    • @Projekt5.3
      @Projekt5.3 4 роки тому

      On direct injected engines the fuel is injected directly into the cylinders, fuel never touched the intake chambers or valves.

    So why would you do stage 2 vs stage 1. Stage 1 seems like a lot less work and your up top with just the intake. Wouldn't it save time to just do stage 1? i'm just asking b/c i didnt know if there was any difference on how it performs. Also, i like the way stage 1 is set up with the intake and the valve cover, but like the placement of stage 2. So could i get the stage 2 mount with the stage 1 package..say stage 1.5? :).

    Is it recommended that you run both the stage 1 and stage 2 catch cans? Or is there a benefit of running one or the other? I'm used to seeing PCV cans, not so much CCV.

    • @BoombaRacing
      @BoombaRacing  4 роки тому

      IF a customer only wants a single can, we always recommend the stage 2 (PCV). Since its a higher pressure system, it will catch more. If someone wants to keep their engine as clean as possible, we recommend both!

    this will fit the 15 ST? how much damage ,if any, can my engine incur without one? I'm planning on getting an intercooler and downpipe for mine. should I put one of these on before I make any other performance installs?

      +Blas Martinez These engines get pretty built up with gunk on the valves due to them being direct injection. On our shop car with only 15k miles we pulled off the intake manifold and things were pretty dirt in there. Our catch cans will work on the 2015 + with no issues. The stage 2 is a direct plug and play, but the stage 1 requires a slight modification. We'd recommend catch cans as one of the first mods you do.

    Hi boomba racing, I have a 2016 Ford Fusion 2.0 ecoboost I don’t race my car or anything but just some spirited drive which do you recommend the stage 1 or stage 2 or both for my needs, it would be mainly for maintenance purposes of the engine . I hear they are having problems with the older ecoboost since they are direct injection and are getting build up

    • @BoombaRacing
      @BoombaRacing  6 років тому

      Depending on when you purchased your catch can, there is either going to be a quick drain valve at the bottom of the can or a drain plug. If you have the valve, you simply open the set screw. If you have the plug, you pull that out. Let us know if you have any other questions!

    Will this void the warranty? Also, i live in cali. Is this 50 state legal?

    • @BoombaRacing
      @BoombaRacing  7 років тому +1

      When it comes to warranty; in short, innocent until proven guilty. Certain dealers can be more picky than others when it comes to aftermarket parts. Some dealers are fine with mods whereas other dealers will not accept any mods. We always tell the customer to ask the service advisor first for what’s acceptable at any given dealership and if you have any doubts to return the car to stock form before bringing it in to a dealer. Furthermore there is a law called the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act that states in order for a dealer to deny warranty work on your car, they have to prove the aftermarket part you have installed caused your issue. For example if your window stops working and you have a cold air intake, the dealer is not going to void your warranty. It is illegal for a dealer to void your warranty for simply having aftermarket parts installed.
      This part is not CARB certified, however we have many customers in Cali running this piece.

    I drive a 2014 ford focus st. I drive the car easy for the most part and get on it once and a while when driving on the highway. It is my daily driver and I am good with keeping the maintenence of the vehicle. Would you recommend a stage 1 or stage 2 installation? Also do the catch cans differ from stage one/two or they are the same and just mount in different locations.? dumb question..I'm assuming you drain the catch can when you have an oil change. ? thanks

      Hello there! Our Stage 2 catch can will work with no issues on your 2016 Focus ST. The stage 1 can may need different size adapters depending on what size vacuum hose your vehicle was fitted with on the intake from the factory; other than that the stage 1 kit works with no issue.
