I know you are a great musician, but having that fact demonstrated occasionally really reminds me how much I appreciate your musicianship. Love the multi-instrument jam! That got my day off to a great start.
Yup, sounds like a synthesizer alright.
The royalty free tropical house joke murdered me. ❤
Damn, i think this is my favorite jam I’ve heard you do, I definitely wouldn’t complain if you made an album along these lines!
OMG that multi-instrument at 14:00 must be on the next EP!! Awesome!
The "polyphony???" part is just so beautiful!
The Synthi AKS had a touch keyboard built in to the lid. It also had a memory function so you could play something on the keyboard and it could play it back on a loop. People used to ridicule the keyboard because it wasn't something you could play Beethoven on but you must remember that synths weren't intended to be played in a traditional sense. Attaching a 'proper' keyboard came later with an eye on the commercial aspect.
Dude starting at 13:00 that jam got me. Sinister and melodic, then the drums and bass. Very year zero era trent reznor sounds but with a jazzy flare that makes it sound very unique. *Slow claps and leonardo decaprio martini toasts*
Really awesome jam at the end. The Syntrx II does sound incredible and I just love the experimentation you can do with at. At my skill level, space and budget software synths and a single controller are all I can justify for the moment but I loved seeing and hearing this
Wow. That was one hell of a synth demo. Nicely done, sir!
That jam was awesome Benn!! Made my day. Thank you so much for what you do!
You teased this, but it’s finally happening! Can’t wait. Considering buying this and you’re the one person I was hoping for a review from.
That escalated quickly.
First of all, I love you. Straight up you were the cool uncle I wanted to be like when I grew up. You are a part of some of the most beautiful moments in my life. A soundtrack to my childhood. Every album is a masterpiece. Every one. On top of all that your humility is loud and clear every time you open your wholesome mouth piece. You inspire creativity and learning and you’re not just helping us grow, but inviting us to join you every time you talk about something that you’re passionate about talking about. As long as you love what you’re putting on this channel, we love watching it from you. Thank you for being the person that you are. I’m confident that whatever content you put out will be an inspiration to somebody, the world needs more Benn Jordan. That’ll be your only real-talk love later I’ll give you. You are fellow musician from this point on. lol❤
10:00 is magic!!!
I love this channel so so much. That was fantastic.
Thanks for family time. I have wanted to hear these two together. And the trio jam was fantastic.
I’m a sucker for those noise tone experiments you made. And what a cool jam berrynice Benn!
I got a lot of respect for Benn, and his continued donations to the ACLU. You're the man. Oh I forgot, the SYNTRX II is a beast!
Killer track at the end!
Loved the para/poly demo!
Fantastic demo man. I don’t comment much. I have watched loopop demo as well but yours is better. You broke down real useful sounds as well as experimental stuff. I like to record both. You also play instruments behind it. I am so excited to get mine. I have been eyeballing this for a year or two and finally get mine in a few days. Fantastic price Sweetwater. I have not bought a piece of serious gear like this in a long time.
That was a really nice track at the end there Benn!👍
Surely the plural would be Syntrces, not Syntri?
That’d be a bit self-Syntric to have two!? Would it not?
Great synth. Love the jam ! 👍👏🏻👏🏻🎶
Nice chops my man!
I’ve wanted a Synthi since 1973, but as I was 14 at the time and no way could I get my hands on £329 the dream got put on hold. However, I retire before the end of the year, and finally- after more than fifty years- I will get my hands on the closest thing possible to the Synthi A for less than ten grand. I cannot wait…
I've heard a lot of video endings, but this is SOMETHING!!! SUPER. THANK YOU
It sounds awesome!
It's like the "Wow" signal 😉. A great demonstration.
the 12 minute jam is all Benn...sickly funky..the 16 minute jam is amazing, reminded me of 'Vose In'....
Hey benn is the last jam jazz? Is that jazz? Did you make jaZZ?
cAn YoU FiGuRe oUt ThE TiMe SigNaTuRe bRo???
@@BennJordan 🤣
Great jam with the HD-01. I love mine ♥️ I'd like to see you do a video and use all the triggers as a concept. Thanks 😊
i realy like your research- and opinion-videos. like the one about supersonic-weapons, i liked very much 🙂
nice sound! Trio track is very "Shpongle vibe" stuff, respect!
heya benn, I'v just started learning bass and my evening treat has become jamming along with your gear demos, so when you did it in this vid too then that was real ace and nice and stuff lotsa love x
What a beautiful instruments...🤩
Mad beauty @8:56. Very uplifting.
Sick drumming and video! Made me wanna jam
Gear that looks like laboratory equipment 😎 Imho the most interesting synth of the moment, not cheap but awesome 😀
That jam man! Sick
Great jam at the end. Love the upside down guitar, thats how I learnt also but I relearned when I finally got some lefty guitars.. Comes in useful when I wanna play someone elses though!
Oooohhh I love that melodic patch! Didnt expact that indeed:)!
That jam at the end was so rad
I love Benn Jordan like Benn Jordan loves Benn Jordan!
damn it this RULES
Thank you for this tutorial
Holy shit this jam is NUTS. Love it.
This video makes me want a fretless bass just as much as the Syntrx
I've only seen the first minute, which really has neither instrument, but I already feel the same way as you. But I want an upright acoustic fretless bass. I don't even play one... how hard can it be? Probably by the end of this video I'll be over it. Or I'll go watch a Wasserman video. I haven't even seen him whip out the bass yet (presumably that's what prompted your msg?)
@@GizzyDillespee upright bass is an extremely challenging instrument to play "well". But if you don't care about actually being proficient, then sure, it's easy!
Can’t believe no one has commented about you playing what appears to be a right handed bass upside down and left handed!
Right?! I was thinking the same thing.
such a good synthesist, I d love though electro drums. anyway thanks for the music. Finally
One word - Fab!
Nice overview and great use examples -- when is your jam battle with Alex Ball ?😜
Sweet jam at the end - reminded me of Lemon Jelly a bit :)
What a magical device
Who cares about the synth when you are shredding the shit out of that bass and drums lol what a legend
Your studio equipment videos are great, but I'd also encourage you to keep up the science content. There's lot of people making studio equipment videos, and for that matter there's lots of people making science content, but there's no one making science content with *your* particular vision.
1:29 I was sitting here going, "wait, why do I not remember that song?"
1:35 "Whaattttt?"
1:43 🤣 Well played.
‘Polyphony’ demo is a beautiful melody
Damn that last jam was so fucking cool, total instrumental prog rock breakdown vibes.
Great Jam, neat instrument from erica. Lame that youtube does not respect fair use, there should be some kind of class action lawsuit to address that. The EMS synthi is on lots of 70s stuff but then I don't know much of the 80s that it gets used on. I guess especially back then people were really focused on keeping up and using the newest tech, quickly moving on from the 70s stuff to the Jupiter 8, then MIDI, then the digital FM and LA synthesis and sampling, then onto VA. Now integration of the old and new tech is what lots of us are into, with like a Juno 106 next to a Hydrasynth in the studio, along with some 90s VA or whatever else. Looks like this Syntrx integrates old and new pretty well actually with MIDI and CV. I'll probably keep this on my radar as something to consider in the next years.
Yeah totally over the fence! Not wanting to pigeonhole / compare you but your jams of late have reminded me of the versatility and skill of Frank Zappa, the last portion of the jam was just epic!
Do you miss being able to punch the unit to play the spring reverb? 😛 The synth is definitely cool to me; not sure I will buy it due to being covered by a wall of modular gear plus other stuff, but I can imagine owning it or maybe the Das Klein fusion system.
Oooh that end jam. I was Michael Knight pursuing bad guys with a righteous purposeful expression. Then you went all crazy and Michael headed into a tail spin and Devon didn’t come to save the day. No trailer. No ramp. Nothing.
+1 on all the comments praising jam. Just fab.
Slight clarification on buying directly from Erica: VAT depends on the country you're importing into; in the case of the US that's 5%.
Love the Perkons and own one , but the Syntrx never convince me , great to see them together nevertheless.
This was rad! .. Too soon for a reverb pedal challenge update 😹🤠 ? H90 CXM Meris7 vs Empress 😵💫😶
Alsays loved that sidechained pad on the Pink Floyd songs. Real Ibiza bangers
the groove around 14 really reminds me of Ozric Tentacles :)
@13:28 love your music
Can you sequence patch /matrix changes alongside the note sequence for some mangled synth / percussive beast mode stuff ?
9:40 made my day
Love the harmonic melodic patch on this. Almost like a Catarina Barbieri type of feeling. Don't make us get a Syntrx II - the Perkons just cleaned me out haha!
DUde can play the drums pretty decently !
Having played at one time with one real VCS3 and two 80s clones this thing is really interesting. I did succumb to the modular problem. I pulled one pin from the matrix and couldn’t get my 5/4 drum pattern backt that I somehow concocted. I went all scientific and tried all pinholes but couldn’t get the sound and pattern back :-(
I LOVE the VU meter. I'm a sucker for all things analog. 😉 I've wanted to get into synths/electronic music making for quite some time. Sadly, I've been bedridden due to medical issues including severe chronic pain. But something like this looks like I could use it in bed! 😎🤘☮️
BEN AND GEARRRRR
Jesus i love watching this guy play guitar. The world needs more upside down players. So easy to follow cause it's the same view as looking down at ones own non-upside down fretboard.
More importantly the playing is always just fucking incredible. This jam was stunning.
gives me ideas i should try on my mtrixbrute i barly touch but this is cool
Very nice bit of gear. Works out to be about 3k in Australian Pesos though. I'll just have to sit here with my Polybrute and feel sad.
I really, really don't need one. But damn it.....I really, really want one.
Producer, Composer, Musician, Nerd....❤
That jam was tasty af my boi
14:04 Very shiny bass!
sy mkI or sy mkII ? which one would you recommend more ? thnx for the vid ^^
Can you make a mental note to make more fretless bass and eccentric synth jams plz? That was sumpn else.
I second this!
2:03 the copyright not sees indeed
Digging your drum groove there, I've been trying to learn and I'm stuck on wanting to play open hand - but crossed feels more natural, just doesn't fit with my weird kit and grooves I want to play.
How did you develop your open hand technique? Are you a natural lefty / ambidextrous as well as a dedicated and diligent musician?
he is a lefty playing on a right handed kit
11:15 WOW
BOTH old and new Benn Jordan things are great... and those Pink Floyd picks were... uh...
channeling drexciya a bit in the demos
13:59 equals pissed off Bruford outake, circa 1979.
Mono neon upside down bass licks
AAAWW!! The previous video was way too quiet, so I just cranked my earbuds to full blast...
I can not believe that a Benn Jordan "Hey!" just forever damaged my hearing 🤦♂️🤦♂️
fretless. respect.
Holden vibes off the polytonic patch
I hope you're joking about supporting the ACLU lmao
Plural would probably be Syntrices
How do you learn all of this? I bought one and I'm having a hard time learning how to use this.
Treeeee-mendus!
