Hey Benn, you make really engaging and interesting videos. You have a uniqueness in the sea of youtube. Thanks for spending the time to share this awesome synth with us.
It has all the knob per function I love and look and sound, but not any the features I need still it’s one of my favorite that came out lately and love the build and color.
2:28 i think there’s a setting to change that. Try opening the iPhone manual on a secondary device next to your iPhone displaying the drum manual for easy reference to your manual’s manual.
It's really not, the TR-909 was released in 1983 at an MSRP of $1195 which is $3,648 in today's dollars. Full-size, full-feature, high-quality machines have come DOWN in price over the years, but the availability of Volcas and Behringer clones has skewed peoples' expectations of cost. Sure you can get a TR8S for $600-700 but look at the difference in build quality, the size of the company, etc. The sheer number of tact switches and high-quality knobs and pots on the Perkons drives the manufacturing costs way up plus metal case vs plastic, smaller company, etc.
@CT-ho6si I'm not suggesting the price isn't merited but it nevertheless is quite a bit more than I'd spend on a drum machine and, against the economic backdrop, it's definitely eye-watering for me personally
So many new cool drum machines/drum synths coming out. The pulsar 23, HD-01, Landscape Fm Noon (you should get your hands on one) and the THC syncussion mini!
Adding on to your comment about the state of drum machines, I’ve noticed that most of them that are neither sample based nor old school Roland derivatives tend to be grooveboxes rather than straight, pure drum machines. So while this one isn’t for me I really appreciate what Erica is doing here to advance the world of drum machines.
Hi Benn. What happened to your favourite synthesizer? Is the Arturia Polybrute still the one, and do you still have/use it? Many youtubers said many good things, but almost nobody seems to make new videos about it. What are we missing?
Benn Jordan, The last two hardware jams starting in about @14:46 are spot on. Very lovely. I see this instrument taking you on a diversion of your regularly scheduled productions cultivating a new sub genre of yourself. Iterations are everywhere. Nice 1.
Yip, if I was rich this would be the drum machine I'd buy. Sounds great, sounds unique, does weird stuff too, love those types of knobs like on my Manhattan Analog modules. Looks literally built like a tank. They even put it in a kind of sea foam green / ocean turquoise that would great with a Fender Jaguar propped against it.
@@compucorder64 Good thing you said "literally". I 'd hate for anyone to think you were speaking rhetorically. Or hyperbolically. Or ironically. Thank you for making that distinction.
Wow, as a drummer, I think that is one hell of a cool drum machine. I'd love to make some evolving weirdness and play acoustic drums over it. I also really enjoyed your music making with this thing.
They should have named this thing G.A.S. Gotta get one. So versatile and a breath of fresh air. Great display of what this baby can do. The demo of Perkons with Roland Phrase Lab and Cyclone's 303 clone was where it's at; for me. Keep up the amazing content. 👏
