I think you might get more customers by being more genuine. I met you at CapCon years ago and Pat Flynn's conference and you're a solid dude. I hope this video gets the most views on your channel. It's encouraged me and I'm sure many more to rethink the way we create content. Thanks Ryan.

Thanks Tom. Intellectually, I think you are probably right about getting more customers. The irony is, if you do *in order to get more customers*, then it is more fake then ever. Thank you for remembering our interaction at FlynnCon and for keeping tabs on my work!

And what you are attracting now are the people here for the long game, the ones who genuinely love what they do and give value to the world, instead of those who trying grab a quick bucks here and there. Thank you for that. That's really nice of you to say. I don't feel as though I've been disingenuous or misleading, just unconsciously "acting" on camera rather than just showing up. There is a place for that (and nothing wrong with it), but I want to do less of it moving forward.

Seems like youre overly judging yourself.
Nothing wrong with making semi-clickbait titles for more views
Nothing wrong with creating content to get customers, if the content is giving value then it’s a fair exchange.
I think you’ll always be swinging between authenticity vs going for attention. That’s fairly normal.
I think you’re fairly real. You do come off as businessy, but that’s your thing right?

As someone who is as you would say ‘to my core’ socialist, I started following Capitalism because you showed this version of yourself in your videos every now and again and that is what pulled me in. So I’m loving more laid back Ryan and am excited to see how you ‘unfold’ and shed the part of the persona that was wearing you down. The feeling I would get from your videos was that your bottom line was people, not money and I think that even more now…..the irony is, that approach to life is what will (usually) economically pay off in the long. You’ve even managed to get this ‘to my core ‘ socialist to think about capitalism in an entirely new and positive manner.

Always love you keeping it real. "The reality is..." eventually you'll figure out the reality that freedom (and community and family and fatherhood and, and and...) is a lot bigger than capitalism.
Capitalism is just one tool for humans to create and serve with - but fundamentally conditional and transactional at its core (employees, customers, vendors).
Whatever we do and choose beyond business or for other than business reasons, is not because of capitalism. It's Ryan (or any of us), the human wanting good for yourself and others, choosing to move beyond the conditions. Sure, treating people as people rather than avatars is usually good for business, but deep down we know which reality is driving us.
I love your content because you're constantly grappling with the limits of your chosen vehicle. It gives me hope we'll get clarity around the limits of this little "i" infinite game we call business and actually get more involved in the capital "I" innovation we entrepreneurs like to believe we're the experts at.
Hopefully that moves well beyond B2B or B2C or SAAS or supplements or paid content, courses, meetups, and masterminds. It's a fascinating time to make (and lose) lots of money. It's a more fascinating time to bridge divisions while respecting choice and expanding freedom and opportunity beyond the monetary. You're a leader and I'm confident you'll keep figuring it out and keep growing in your ability to help and serve well beyond the limits of your chosen URL.
Thank you for what you do, what you share, and how you share it.
