    Good job. It helps if you leave out the screws in the last joist before the butt joint until after you install the butt board. The drywall is more able to flex into the butt board.
    I was thinking of making some kind of butt board and your solution is great! Thanks.

    Maybe not😋

  • @archangel6415
    @archangel6415 2 роки тому +2

    Just a couple of suggestions, the board behind could be much narrower 2-3” wide would do! And the joint should be left open 1/4 inch. I guess you will not be using stiff insulation in the ceiling.
    We in the U.K. often skim the entire ceiling with plaster. However, you did very well to achieve the finish you got, well done.

    some drywall adhesive would have made your seam stronger to prevent future contraction cracks since the attics temps will change with seasons.

    • @diyfferent
      @diyfferent  5 років тому

      You can but it's tricky because walls have a bottom sill plate and top plate that would prevent the drywall from pulling in properly at the very top and bottom. IMO, your just better off hanging it vertically on the wall or buying sheets long enough to span horizontally.
