I agree. That was a great segment. When a 25 minute video feels like ten minutes, I think that’s well done. I’m serious, I haven’t watched you guys for a while, and I think the show is better. Great questions and Kurtz is a class act.
As a Kstate fan, feels like we are sleeping on someone... This conference is too wild to predict. Tech, okie state, and even iowa state i feel could surprise everyone and be a pain. Should be a fun season!!
regarding Ollie Gordon, John talks often about. Okies have oil money to pay the man if he was offered. You reference ostate with kstate alot I noticed. not anything alike other than ag and its flat
Private equity can be good or can be bad. The success of such venture depends on what the money is used for & what the terms of the deal are. It is important to realize that the big influx of cash now is accompanied by a loss of cash in the future.
Yeah, true, but a more robust 80 percent might be worth the loss (of albeit a more robust) 20 percent if it means the conference and it's institutions aren't divvying up resources to mine revenue streams all day every day. You let me use your house and all your computers to mine coins, and I get 20 percent which you may not love but that 80 percent is more money than you made in your life. I also paid off the house and equipment by letting All State put a banner on the roof for 5 years. Devils in the details though.
I’m assuming you are talking about Buc-ee’s? I visited one today for the first time. I was impressed with their efficiency, bathrooms, and their marketing. I went for their brisket which is average, but it is kind of chaotic. Glad I can mark that off the list!
@@Gringo-Billy if it affects the reputation of the conference possibly affecting how the teams are ranked at the end of the year. Then yes I do care what the media thinks about the conference
One must ask, why is private equity less than acceptable in college football? If someone want to give theBIG12 a pile of money to change the name to the Allstate Conference or for a piece of the action, I say bring it on.
The private equity money and naming rights change are two separate conversations. The PE money could be upwards of $50 million plus per school. The naming rights would be an estimated $3 million per year per school.
You have to be innovative to remain relevant. Hopefully Stankey and Pussiti are too proud to bring in private equity and we can close the gap a little!
I think the extra money from the sponsors and perhaps private equity will make the Big 12 much better. The conference teams need to be able to bring in the best talent to have a better tv product
Yeah but at what point is too much, do you want the Big12’s sports teams to be owned entirely by Walmart or Wataburger etc ? Sponsors make sense , everyone has sponsors
with word out the athlete got $2 million could you imagine paying 15 bball players $2 million, each. $30 Million dollars. "Thats just basketball players."
The shots were fired years ago. Losing Nebraska mizzou and Colorado should have been taken more seriously before that happened. Thats when the TV monies started making splits not just starting in 2021. I wish you guys well, hope things work out, but as the landscape changed the greed emerged and everyone should have taken notice then.
GREED?! You allowed Texas to run your conference into the ground. The Big Ten doesnt have that. We have revenue sharing. Nebraska escaped the greed and inequity in the Big 12.
@@A1Googler Not my conference. There were reasons we left, as you stated. Nebraska and mizzou made good choices, Colorado wanted cooler than you so like Greely, headed west. Now its no headliners the big 12 either needs to build a few or raise up every team. Tough to do taking other teams monies in well established areas.

John is always interesting and easy to listen to, and I'm a KU fan.

Good morning! Love ya and so happy for all your success
It's Everything I Hoped For
this is pleasant time and your pleasent video ! best
Some believe that the conference already is a minor league.
Fantastic My friend
Thank you for inspiring me to better
Amazing to me this phases people in the least. CFB was destroyed long before this.

Just fresh, Friend
We should go all in ..... name us the Bucky's 16 Truck Stop Conference!
Sounds good at first but what happens when national media starts calling us the cheap gimmicks conference

3 million per school is peanuts
They will get more than their name on it. A LOT more.

Arizona is the best team.
State better win a conference title at the least with that amount of money!

Calling him a Kansas homer is hilarious. That man hates KU
you can't serve God and Mt. Oread at the same time
Call it the “ Southwest 16” 💪🇺🇸
But half the teams or more is not in the southwest 😂
WV would LOVE that
Obviously we just need to stop discussing morals in college sports. Take the money if we can get it, it’s ok.
The perfect sponsor: Always Ultra Thin Long Super Pads - Size 2 Big 12 your Dl and ol will thank you for a leak proof game.
Until the SEC and B1G make the same moves and you're $50 million behind again PLUS you're 20%+ owned by a corporation now so yea I'm sure it's fine.
