yes! I've watched this movie a thousand times and usually imagined playing On Your Shore at my wedding! i loved the scene at the end as well...still my 2 favorite Enya tracks of all time...
This movie really is absolute genius. The story / screenplay is brilliant. The direction, art direction, photograhy is unreal and so well thought out. Notice how every seen is so well planned? From the colour of the clothes people are wearing to even what the people in the background are wearing and doing.
Certainly one of my favorite scenes from one of my favorite movies. Like Telemacher's vow not to kiss, and then kissing everyone at the restaurant, this movie pokes great fun at some of LA's foibles, but it is loving fun, perfectly portrayed, by someone who sees through all the falsity to the profoundly magical thing that LA is.
A lovely scene. They were married at the time and Steve Martin has never sounded more sincere. I believe the 'wonderful' line is from Shakespeare's 'As You Like It'. Thank you.

That's nice to hear. It scares me how many people get scared and desperate and settle for the first person who shows interest in them. I turn 31 in a week and have never really had a long-term girlfriend because I wasn't interested in the few girls who fancied me. I may never find that girl (especially not being 6'3" and bald), but being alone is better than putting up with someone I can't even talk to.

this scene and the one when he changes the weather just to keep her in L.A. A movie that brings out the beauty from a cold city... master piece
