I've heard Victor Smolski playing his Engl signature amp in a workshop to several backing tracks from Rage albums. It was so amazing - he did every difficult solo part as you can hear it on the album - just perfect. Beside that he's a very nice person.
I love re-visiting this video. That engl tone is THICK. But the thing that caught me all those years ago was that Fred Brum solo. The sound of that lick in the beginning of the solo truly had me dumbfounded. I literally don't have words for it. Love the videos, brother. ❤️
this amp is a killer live! Heard Victor Smolski last year three times (2 times just a few feet away from the way) and nothing sounds better than this one for metal.
Ola Englund FINALLY answers my question of "Will you some day play an Engl Victor Smolski head sometime soon!?" my prayers have been deliverd in HD. awesomeness!
After hearing this song on your new album I had to go back through all your videos to find all the songs and find all the amps you played them on! I really love this solo to this song and it's one of my favorite ones on the album!
I have watched every one of your videos..or atleast all the ones i could find..your band is really great...i like your style and your music is nice and heavy which is a GREAT!!!...i love your tone as well..keep up the good work and i will def be buyiung your music the next chance i get
@FredtheShred Wow, and you still have the determination to play. and i must say, ive listened to your solo at least 30 maybe 40 times. and i just saw your Kemper vid i cant get either of them out of my head youve changed my entire perspective of 8 strings i wanna get one now. :O
Thank you very much. I tried powerball 2, Blackmore(very nice cleans), 6505 and fireball and I still prefer the sound of my bugera 333xl infinium. BUT, then I tried the Peavey JSX and here we go. It suits me in every aspect. Getting it for 500€, 2 years old, in perfect condition. Very good price i think.
I dont know how this amp is priced, it probably varies from country to country, I believe the ENGL Blackmore is affordable as well, and its supposed to be really good!
just running through a musicstore won't work, you need mic's and a lot of time. but there are tons of profiles online, you'll find every amp! kemper is a really good investion for a studio, but i think one cannot live without a head+ cab combo. it's just way more fun. for recording the kemper is the way to go though, it's sooo accurately reproducing the actual mic'ed tone and way more practical as you don't have to worry about accidentially changing the mic position or tubes giving up.
buddy of mine had a jsx, certainly a cool amp. and if you liked the 333xl the jsx is the obvious choice, the 333xl is a copy of it. my friend sold it for a engl morse though, and afterwards got a the valve 3 100 (beast amp!) as a backup.
Depending on what you mean. Some Engl amps have proprietary footcontrollers, but most have regular footcontroller jacks, too. For the standard 1/4" footcontrollers you can use pretty much any single or double switch you can find. I used a Marshall double switch from a MG100DFX with my Savage 60 and my Rackhead, no problems. Besides the 'special' footswitches (Z5, Z9, Z10 I think), Engl should work perfectly fine with everything, they're not the Apple of amplifiers :)
jacks is no problem. footswitches (z4) are no problem either, everything with stereo jacks works. but there are specially designed floorboards, wich have all functions on them and a special connection (z5, z9, z10). midi is another story again, i'd have to check this first before i could give you an answer there. the z12 is engl exclusive i think.
Ola, this is definitely one of the best mixes youve done! I find it exciting as your mixes seem to progress more or less with each video. I wonder if its you trying new things/getting better, or just your gear is getting better?
i have beqväm from ikea as guitar chair, it's just some kind of taboret with a footrest. works way better than actual chairs for me, especially since i play in classical position most of the time (guitar on the left leg)
You could also check out a Kemper Profiling amp, Ola has one too, It can make a sorta Profile of amps and gives you the sound from that amp, That way, you go to the biggest musicstore you can find, try out al of these kind of amps and get their profiles in the Kemper. I don't know much about it, don't know if it wil actually work, Because (unfortunatly) I do not own one since it is about €2000 from what I remember.
Ola,I gotta say that your channel is sick and your amp tests and tutorials are awesome. But,have you considered doing any reviews about your guitars? Also,Ola in greek means everything.
The Invader is awesome, but try the Powerball (1st one) with an Orange cab and open focus for leads in the 3rd channel. Gain Only about 10-11 o'clock. I think you will change your opinion. Got this amp, love it.
This and the RetroTube are the best of what Engl has to offer... and I fucking love it!
I've heard Victor Smolski playing his Engl signature amp in a workshop to several backing tracks from Rage albums. It was so amazing - he did every difficult solo part as you can hear it on the album - just perfect. Beside that he's a very nice person.
still loving this video
Ola, this is - hands down - the best mix you have done so far - one word KILLER!!
I love re-visiting this video. That engl tone is THICK. But the thing that caught me all those years ago was that Fred Brum solo. The sound of that lick in the beginning of the solo truly had me dumbfounded. I literally don't have words for it. Love the videos, brother. ❤️
This amp sounds amazing, and I've always been a Rage fan, so it's nice to see Victor get a signature amp, especially one that sounds this good.
This solo is just .... amazing. One of the best i've heard!
I bought this amp 2 years ago and I love it. still holds up but I really want an XXL cab to go with it..
I can´t believe how tight that amp sounds!!
this amp is a killer live! Heard Victor Smolski last year three times (2 times just a few feet away from the way) and nothing sounds better than this one for metal.
That Fred Brum solo melts my face.
Ola Englund FINALLY answers my question of "Will you some day play an Engl Victor Smolski head sometime soon!?" my prayers have been deliverd in HD. awesomeness!
That is seriously one of the best solos i have ever heard
Solo sits perfectly in the mix!
@Visnu2007 I didn't.. but my hair is longer in the back. Like a metal-mullet.
How does Ola get such cool riffs when I can’t think of any!
After hearing this song on your new album I had to go back through all your videos to find all the songs and find all the amps you played them on! I really love this solo to this song and it's one of my favorite ones on the album!

Ola, you're looking particularly more badass today - what with the grrr face at the beginning and all. Damnit I love the clean look of your setups.

Fred Brum's magic!
Best solo from Brum I've ever heard.
buddy of mine had a jsx, certainly a cool amp. and if you liked the 333xl the jsx is the obvious choice, the 333xl is a copy of it. my friend sold it for a engl morse though, and afterwards got a the valve 3 100 (beast amp!) as a backup.
