MGS got so off-course as a series that you had to use mods to reintroduce the concept of "on-site procurement". And, what a shock, it makes the game way better and more interesting! I love what you are doing with MGS5 - experimenting with every variable to try to turn it into the best stealth game possible.
@@paisano6830 DEEPLY underrated game. The recruiting feature was more interesting than Peace Walker since you could target specific subtypes of enemy - scientists, officers, etc - for specific benefits including social camouflage.
Metal Gear is like icecream. We had vanilla. That was pretty solid. People like vanilla. Then we got chocolate. People loved that, chocolate is great, who doesn't like chocolate? And eventually, we got flavor upon flavor upon flavor. MGS5 is like a toasted coconut banana split. That's not a flavor for everyone, but does that make it a *bad* flavor? No. It's just not a flavor everyone will enjoy. There's no way to make it "better" or "worse", but you can always put new toppings on for other people to be able to enjoy it. That's what mods are for.
MGSV had like, 1, mission with the concept of throwing you with nothing, and that mission was one of the best side ops (is a main op but you know what i mean, since is just a repeat of a early game mission) in the game imo.
Because it’s unfinished, I imagine there was a plan for venom to loose contact with Mother base and do the substance style mission in a more fleshed out way. Yet we never got to see it.

@@Cartel893 shut up kid. MGSVTPP is well documented as an unfinished game. Mechanically it is finished and I have hundreds of hours in the game but the story is unfinished. That’s undisputed fact.
This is how it felt playing Ground Zeroes for me. Danger at every corner, under equipped. Loved it. Will be giving this a try, or at least more Subsistence mode.
Incidentally, I once did a CQC-only run of MGS3 and it was similarly cinematic. Especially the part where the Ocelot Unit is searching the house for you and you have to sneak up on and pick them off one by one, I highly recommend it for anyone who likes that game.
My favorite part of your videos I think is hearing sound clips from other games that I recognize but can't immediately place, and then having it come to me later.
this makes the game actually feel like other MGS games. In Vanilla MGSV i never really felt like i needed to use stealth. i could always just shoot my way through.
That's literally just... your lack of skill 😂😂 It's all good bud, playing MGSV for the first time is like entering a strip club for the first time too, you can act like you know what You're doing, but it's painfully obvious you don't know 😂😂
That maneuver at 9:10 and 20:30 was crazy! It's the lack of resources, that makes you come up with the most creative solutions for conditional stealth given the limited options you have. This game really needed a Subsistence mode for every mission.

If you have no eguipment to take out outpost, you need to wait for night or sand storm.. i would have loved the eating and stamina gameplay from mgs3 to this game also.

this game is actually good with difficulty mods, i mean it's crazy that in a game where you can engage from so far with silenced sniper rifles the guards have like 30m sight range
This video, and the other similar challenge runs, actually inspired me to run the whole game with these settings (while requiring foxhound rank on all missions). It was as frustrating as it was fun!
didn't see if you knew this in the video but if you press E while still and prone you can gain more camouflage by putting snakes head to the ground! Thank you for the video!
Hey I just found out this video from youtube recommendation and after spending so much time into this game (playing + consuming content around it) for 9 long years, I never thought that something new would make me excited to sit through and watch the whole thing, let alone share with friends! Superb job in everything (gameplay, commentary, editing, music selection, etc.) Great choice of mods as well, you brought a new perspective into the table and highlighted aspects that could improve the game on higher difficulties or the endgame.
It seems such a missed opportunity to me that the entire campaign wasn't playable in subsistence mode by default. As cool as having a tech tree and upgrades is for the gameplay loop, the actual moment to moment gameplay is way more interesting when you have to get creative with your problem solving, rather than having 20 items, all readily accessible, that solve the problem in different ways. Every time I see this game I have to fight my urges to go back and play it again. I'm waiting for delta to come out before I replay the whole series in chronological order!
6:15 aww man i love how you used the Automaton soundtrack from helldivers in video section called Blood & Oil. Besides, i love your challange runs! Keep going Boss :3

I was kinda surprised to see people are still making content and videos about the game near 10 years later. Though this definitely was a real fun vid to watch and has me wanting to try it myself tbh
Even just having real-world counterparts for guns in the game instantly adds like +100 immersion. I didn't realize how badly MGSV needed that until now.
I somehow managed to stealth out of ''Where the do bees sleep'', once by trying really hard, a long long time ago and the second time I just ran to my right as soon as I could and I just escape unnoticed. That second scenario still buggles me.
