    Love your smiles and energy!
    I keep holding on to the project I do not like but watching your video I need to frog them instead of feeling frustrated every time I see them ❤️❤️❤️

      It feels SO good to frog a project you're not happy with! And really, if you think about it, suffering through and finishing it won't make you like it anymore, so it's better to frog it when it's only partly done 🐸🪷

    I really enjoyed you walking through your thought processes on these frogged project yarns! It's so tough to frog sometimes; but ultimately, this is a reminder that it's always best to make things that we love. Thanks for sharing 🙂

      Absolutely! Once I've decided that I'm going to do it, I actually really love frogging 🐸🪷 Even though it's undoing a lot of work, it feels so cathartic to rip it all out and start fresh. I look at it as getting double the knitting out of the same yarn 😉

    The way I jumped to watch this when UA-cam told me you’d mentioned me! Thank you so much ❤❤

    Love this video, Whitney! I also really appreciate your thoughts on yarn pre-orders. The FOMO is so compelling sometimes, and I am actively trying to avoid impulse purchases. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve “fallen in love” with preorder-exclusive collections, only to have the skeins hang around my stash (partially because I could only justify ordering a skein or two, and also the fear of “wasting” it on an unworthy project). Working on restructuring my mindset 🫶 Thank you for sharing your thought processes & goals

    • @knittedbywhitney
      @knittedbywhitney  22 дні тому

      I definitely struggle with avoiding preorders, and unless I have an exact plan of what I want to make with the yarn when I purchase it, I also keep it in my stash for a while because I don't want to "waste" it on the wrong project either 🥲

    Aw that's such a sweet thought to end this series with😊❤❤ I also think that knitting really gives me back so so much, in terms of joy, purpose, creativity outlet, ways to express myself and to make others feel happy and appreciated when I knit for other people too (and so much more!). I just wanted to say something about the Harry Potter theme because I think I have a different perspective. I'll start saying that I perfectly get your point of view and that the opinions about the author have ruined the series for you, and that you also really care about talking about it, especially having a Internet platform, because you want everybody to feel welcome here (and we do feel like it❤❤). Me however, I think about it differently. I REALLY really disagree with the author's opinions and was extremely disappointed by them and by her in general. But being born in the early 2000 I was raised with the Harry Potter story, I watched the movies a million times, grow up playing pretend with my sister and friends and using pencil as wands as we were our favourite characters. I read, and re-read the books especially during hard times in my life and they always gave me hope and happiness. So I think that Harry Potter is at least as much about who wrote it originally, as it is about us that grew up with it and made it a part of our own lives. So now yes I'm so so mad with what she said but I can't fall out of love with the series (and if I know Hermione, I bet she'd be very very angry at the author too!)

      @@alicemarchetti4340 I totally understand that HP had such an impact on so many peoples' lives -- it did for me too! I just find it impossible to love it now like I did before. It's not just about having an online platform that I want to make welcoming for everyone, it's also just how I feel in my heart. I still have my HP books but it just makes me sad to look at them, even though I have wonderful memories of reading them and they got me through hard times too. That's just my opinion and I understand that not everyone feels the same and a lot of people can separate the work from the author, which is great for them. I just can't do it myself. ❤️

    Love the stash tour, and when you mentioned ideas for Advent yarns I immediately thought of the Kintra sweater that Rebecca Clow currently has in testing. I was clued in to her designs thru one of your size inclusive round ups. The pattern is simple but interesting and may be what I needed to use up an advent I bought long ago myself

    I only just got around to watching this last instalment of your stash series so excuse the slightly late comment. This series has been such a welcome distraction during this truly hectic time in my life, but also locally and globally. I find it immensely helpful to tune out for a bit watching something calm, joyous and uncomplicated, so thank you for providing just that.
    On a different note, I completely understand why you feel a bit iffy about your hp themed yarn, but I’d like to offer a different perspective. Harry Potter may have been written by who we now know is a weirdo bigot, but that’s not where it ends. The book’s editing, the different cover designs, the movie production, the acting, the design and production of merch, the different theme park attractions, all of it was built by hundreds if not thousands of different people, many of which we know to be allies of the trans community, including many of the actors in the films. Hell, many of them were probably part of the lgbt community themselves! That’s before even mentioning the yarn dyer, who is the person you truly supported by purchasing the yarn, not jkr. For that reason alone I think we shouldn’t feel bad for enjoying the countless creations that came out of the books, because it was a community effort. Yes, the figurehead of the community is now dying on a strange little hill, but that shouldn’t write off all of the wonderful creations made by non-weirdos who were inspired by her work.

    Ooh, I don't think I've seen the Albarola Tank before! It looks so good!
    I resisted the Golden Hour preorders and extras by the skin of my teeth. They're so so beautiful and I think the only reason I was able to resist was because I knew I was going to get the Knotty Pine advent this year, which I have to guess would have a similar (if a bit darker, which you probably know I prefer) color story. I'm glad I only got back into fiber arts after JKR showed herself as a horrible person so I don't have to worry about old hp stash. I would have probably had to destash any I had because it would have made me sick to look at (I've had to do that with a lot of other hp fan stuff since 2020).
    I have the Heirloom Quilt Cardigan in my queue for using my tweed minis in. I saw someone at the beginning of the year doing a version with the 2023 EKF Icelandic Solstice advent (I love hunting for projects using yarn I have that I'm excited about), and while they did one cool and one warm, I loved the idea of doing a mash up of cool and warm tones. My Red Door Fibres tweed minis all lean cool, and my Montana Crochet tweed minis all lean warm and I love the idea of doing a grid pattern of alternating cool and warm blocks. And I also saw someone do sport single instead of DK or fingering held double because they also live in a warm climate, and I love that idea, too!

      Your Heirloom Quilt Cardigan is going to look soooooooo good! Ugh, I really don't like how the HP yarns make me feel, which is probably why I still haven't used them... and I wonder if I ever really will use them 😔 I also have an HP tattoo that I want to get covered up but I keep spending tattoo money on yarn 😂

    • @Amanda.aka.Megan.Shines
      @Amanda.aka.Megan.Shines 21 день тому

      @@knittedbywhitney I talked about getting an hp tattoo for years and I’m so so grateful I never got around to it! I still haven’t gotten around to getting my first tattoo, but my rule now is nothing directly related to any IP, because hp taught me you never know how that can change. I have a few hp things with specific sentimental value: the illustrated editions of 1-4 that my sister got me and a snow globe that my husband used during his proposal. I keep them tucked away in a closet so I don’t have to see them but I don’t want to get rid of them either. But that’s not super useful with something like yarn that you would theoretically want to use one day. You could try divorcing them in your mind? Refer to them just by the dyer? Or if you really do feel negative emotions from them, and don’t know that you’ll use them, you could destash them on the destash discord or on instagram.

    • @knittedbywhitney
      @knittedbywhitney  21 день тому +1

      @@Amanda.aka.Megan.Shines I tried selling them in my local knitting Facebook group, but no one was interested. I think I can eventually divorce them from the inspiration because they really don't look like HP, they're just mini skeins, so maybe one day I'll make the cardigan with them.

    I've had to really train myself against the scarcity mindset on preorders. There's a finite number of colors, you'll find it again somewhere if you really want it or need it!

    OMG…… as a plus size Canadian girlie, I am thrilled to have discovered you and I cannot wait to work my way through all your videos….. as a fairly new knitter (almost 2 years) I have so much to learn. I ADORE your pattern roundups!
    Do you have any fave patterns for v-neck sweaters? I’d love some ideas if you do.

      Thank you so much! Welcome to the channel 🥰 I don't have any videos specifically about v neck sweaters, but I'm pretty sure they've made an appearance in some of my pattern round up videos under other themes. The only v neck I can remember making is the Romance cardigan by Tricot Design MCL, which is a pattern I highly recommend! I'll keep an eye out for v neck sweaters for a future pattern roundup though ☺️

    Das Mondschaf (btw well done on the pronounciation!) is actually HUGE in Germany when it comes to hand dyed yarns. Comparable to Sewrella or Explorer Knits in the US. I wonder if the name of the red yarn is a reference to the George R. R. Martin book?
    I'm kind of sad this is the last video of this series. The videos were so entertaining and I learned at lot about brands that were new to me. God job!

    • @knittedbywhitney
      @knittedbywhitney  22 дні тому

      I'm so glad you enjoyed them! And thank you for the compliment! I know absolutely no German, but the words I'm familiar with tend to pronounce every letter in the word so I guessed the pronunciation based on that logic 😅 Their yarn is beautiful so you're lucky to have such a great dyer available to you in Germany!
