That is exactly what I'm looking for my 2 granddaughters age 3 and 10. It did look really heavy what kind of wood could I use to make it a bit lighter but still be solid and hold up for them and BTW can you suggest anyone that builds them. I don't have any insight to anyone that builds things. Awesome job !!! I know they would fall in love with it and of course it would be from santa
If you built the frame from 2x4's instead if 4x4's and a solid sheet of 3/4 treated plywood instead of decking boards this would reduce the weight and simplify the constriction a bit. To be honest though, the way I built it has really worked out well since the weight really keeps it stationary when a pile of kids are going up and over it. If I were to do it again, the only thing id have done different is have a 2nd person help me stand it up, and maybe make it a foot taller.
Hey having my nephew build this from your measurements only thing we are going with the 8'×6' instead of 7×6. Where did you get caps to cover the hardware on top and all so kids don't get hurt. The rope needs to be same measurements as frame correct..thank you for your help, I am sohappy to be able to do this
The caps came with the rope kit, and going 8 feet tall is a good idea. There was plenty of extra material to allow for a taller wall in the kit i purchased.
Can I get the name where you purchased it and maybe how much and did you need anything else. Do you think that net will fit our 8x6 frame. Thank you for getting back to me
@@audreyparker9081 Link below on amazon for the net we purchased. The 8 x 6 frame should be fine, you'd just have an extra foot of space on each side of the net. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00076OC60/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'm not real sure, but based on how heavy it was to lift, 200 / 300 lbs maybe? It's heavy enough that kids nor the wind are not going to knock it over.
I did not leave gaps, the boards haven't swelled enough to make a difference in my cases. Leaving a nail width gap between boards is a great idea though.
This is very cool. My son loves America Ninja Warrior and would love something like this. Roughly how much did you spend to make it and do you have any measurements that you took for the boards?
I bought 12 foot decking boards for the wall and cut them into 4 foot sections. I cut the 4x4x8 down to 7 feet, however if I had it to do all over again I would have went with 8 feet.. I would have had more room for adjusting the rope ladder. The total cost is hard to guess at since i wasn't really keeping up with it... if I were to guess maybe 300'ish with all the bits and pieces.
Great idea!I wish I could post a picture of the build I'm doing! I'm using your callouts. 7ft x 4ft I just got the rope in from Amazon today. One question tho. Your horizontal supports installed at the end, what was the length and angels?
I can't remember the exact product number, but it was an Olympic brand water-based red cedar stain, It came from home depot 1 gallon can. This Stain has held up really well for outdoor use, I put 2 coats on it.
The wood is doing fine so far, with any product made from wood for outdoors its best to at least seal it with a wood sealer of some sort, i haven't done that with mine but they are still holding up. here is the Amazon link to the one i purchased. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00076OC60/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s05?ie=UTF8&psc=1
LOL... well funny you should ask, I will preface this statement with Dad's will do anything for their kid, at least this dad anyway... Not as much as I would like to see. He plays some ninja warrior up and down it when he has friends over, but it doesn't see much action other than that.
@@Yellowdogsworld , yup I'm a dad too, and I like to build too. That's what I figured... unfortunately. Realistically I think our kids grow so fast and they can find their own fun, that I think the best solution is one that can grow and change as they do. That or just give them some rope, sticks, and freedom and let them be creative. 🍺
@@jesusaguirre7755 funny you should mention rope, he has taken my tow rope for my ATV's and tied it off to the wall and uses it to walk up. So like you said, kids will find their own fun given enough stuff to work with.
I don't really document my projects, as I kinda make them up as I go along. However the wall is 7 feet by 4 feet,. If I had it to do over again I would have made it 8 feet. This would have given me more room to adjust the rope ladder. I used 2 heavy duty door hinges at the top, and a whole lot of decking screws.
Excellent, excellent work!!
Glad you like it!
I love this thank for the video..we are gonna build one for our 2 boys
That will win you some dad points :)
GREAT JOB! Excellent planning and craftsmanship!
Thank you very much!
Definitely need to do this for my daughter
If you build it as heavy as this one.. I can attest to the fact... they wont knock it down :)
Wow that was a lot of work! Well done!
Thanks, The Work was worth it to see my boy go up and over :)
Thanks for the video!
This is the perfect!!!! Easy and compact

I want one of those!!!

Great job and it looks awesome. Roughly how much does it weigh?
I'm not real sure, but based on how heavy it was to lift, 200 / 300 lbs maybe? It's heavy enough that kids nor the wind are not going to knock it over.
do the boards on the wall have gaps between them? It is ok to mount them like this, without spacing? Don't they swell during winter/rainy season?
I did not leave gaps, the boards haven't swelled enough to make a difference in my cases. Leaving a nail width gap between boards is a great idea though.
What did you use for finisher/sealant ?
It was an Olympic brand Cedar water based stain. It goes a a long way and holds up really well.
How much did it cost for all the materials
I think with the 2 kits, hardware, and lumber around 250. With the price of lumber right now it may run a bit more.
@@Yellowdogsworld thank you!

I just got the rope in from Amazon today. One question tho. Your horizontal supports installed at the end, what was the length and angels?
The length started at 12 inches "The cut-offs from the 4x4's that were originally 8 feet" and the angles were cut at 45 degrees.
I am trying to buy all of the materials. what type of decking screws did you use?
Just about any type of coated decking screw will work, 2-1/2 inch with the star bit drive is what I think i used.
Was looking for something like this that’s not too complicated. What paint did you use btw? Good to leave it outdoors?
I can't remember the exact product number, but it was an Olympic brand water-based red cedar stain, It came from home depot 1 gallon can. This Stain has held up really well for outdoor use, I put 2 coats on it.
YellowDogs World Thank you so much. Amazing skills btw.
Roughly how long did it take you to build this? Also, what paint did you use?
Worked on it over a couple nights, and finished it up on a Saturday… I used Olympic red cedar stain, I think… some pretty good stuff…
@@Yellowdogsworld thank you for responding!
I noticed you rolled the top set of rungs of the ladder to fit. How do you keep them from unrolling?
What size decking screws did you use?
I think they were either 2 or 2-1/2 inch
Very good job! Can you build one for my niece and nephew? 😂😂
Sure thing, but shipping might cost you more than the build. :)
Great project, if I may ask how long did it take you to build?
A couple of afternoons and finished it up on a Saturday, it takes me longer when I'm filming too.
Where did you get the cargo net? I saw some on amazon but both had reviews indicating that the wood didn't hold up outdoors. How is yours holding up?

About how much total was the cost?
I'm guessing maybe 200 - 250... with the all the climbing stuff included
