I hope That she Knows Just how much we Love it and how much we Celebrate HER part of making it it's not just the original king story, it's not JUST the music, it's not JUST Linzi and Charlotte, SallyAnn Barbara Darlene and Betty .... I want Debbie Allen to feel all the love that's coming her way
Stunning find! I'm fascinated by the whole political side of this show's story with the controversy of the show going from the RSC in Stratford to Broadway rather than to London. I do wonder if it's true what she said in that they wanted to transfer the show to the West End before Broadway but couldn't due to a lack of theatres. If true, I also wonder if the show's life would have been at all different had it gone to the West End first?
... it's sad there's always a kind of "keeping score" like the West Enders get snubbed because a show hit Broadway before they got a chance. ... Rude. Besides .... It's roots were American, why should they care about a SCORE 1 BROADWAY vs WestEnd ... Why they gotta be like that (or was it all just babble to have something to say to fill time on a chat show...) Seems like other projects get championed no matter which stage got to be "First" versus getting to be "Next!"
Fair point. It was, indeed, the start of the long era (still ongoing) of London informing New York about American theatre makers. While this was a half-British company, I think it would still count.
I hope

Does she?
Does she know?
Has she allowed
our love of Carrie to... Reach Her ?
She’s such a character, an extreme life force.
Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful.
Thank you. You're doing such a terrific job archiving all of this for the CARRIE fans!
