- Bacolod's Masskara 2023 has come and gone. In this episode, I want to show you the highlights and some of the lowlights of the festival (I had my phone stolen!). I'll be showing you the nightlife, amazing food, and iconic dance performances of the Masskara Festival.

The Bacolod City Police did find my wallet with all of the ID's still inside. I want to personally thank the police officer on patrol who found my wallet and turned it in to the command center. Salamat sir!

Propmen talaga nagdala eh. Kac pag nagkamali sila magiging very obvious kac laki ng mga props. Pag dancers magkamali pwd lang manakaw. Pero salute din sa mga dancers sayaw kung sayaw talaga eh at minimal lng ung mali. Overall performance pwd talaga ilaban internationally 👌💪❤️

I'm so glad that the teams this year omitted the sad backstory of don juan liner's tragedy in their routine. para kasi sakin, although it is part of history, it defeats the atmosphere na dapat masaya lang. Props sa lahat ng teams, most especially to Brgy. Granada. Andaming bago sa mata (pakulo, transitions, color combination, props, etc). It was indeed a title defended!!!
So sorry about that unfortunate incident... but to add about why Masskara was conceptualized. The reason was not only the economic crisis that the province experienced but also the tragic sinking of MV San Juan that happened in the same year April 1980. Hundreds of people from Bacolod and Negros Occ perished including the family of Bacolod's mayor. Everything was so gloomy and bleak that year that the festival was created to bring back the smiles on everyone...
Thanks for that extra information! It is an excellent history lesson that something good can come from tradgedy.
