The result is so pretty. I agree, the rushing looks really nice at the shoulders. All the lace makes it look so interesting for a chemise. Very interesting to look at. All my condolences for your family member.
This is absolutely *exquisite*. I caught my breath when you panned over the insertion lace medallions. I’ve been working my way through your Alice series- thank you so much for sharing your talent with us! And as a cat person, the purrs and happy head butts make me happy too ☺️
ah thank you so much, this is such a nice thing to hear! happy cat headbutts are the best 😊 i feel blessed whenever baby bat is feeling affectionate enough for them haha
Have you ever done a video about your process of using your bullet journal for design and sewing? It's so cool seeing glances of it and I'd love to see a bit more focus on it. ^^
i haven't before! i've already filmed about half of this project 😅 but for my next project I'll try to incorporate it more! thank you for the suggestion 😊
Beautiful video in every way. What an exquisite chemise! Love the snowflake lace, it turned out so well. Never seen lace made like this before, very inspiring. The sequences of you hand sewing and the cats are a delight to watch, very calming and a really lovely aesthetic. So glad I found your channel, it’s a real gem!
Just think of all the great techniques that you’ve learned…nothing is a waste of time. The chemise turned out beautifully. Thanks for the kitty news. They’re gorgeous!
Ohhh I love the imagery with Baby Bat silhouetted in the window, she looks so elegant.. It looks so cute how the front of the chemise forms into a slight sweetheart shape. The insert lace seems like such a complicated process, but the results look so elegant. I'm very sorry for your loss, hopefully you and your family are doing well.
As a handsewing only person I really liked to see the different kind of stitiching techniques! Turned out really pretty :) Also really cool Apocalyptica shirt ;) Saw them live in November, one of my favourite bands since I'm 13.
This is such a cool video and learning this process. I’d tea dye the if it’s easier. Watching you hand sewing is so relaxing and stressful for u. Enjoy seeing your gorgeous kitty 🐱 photo bomb or help you with this project. This is a stunning undergarments dress. The lace is gorgeous looking. Maybe a smaller size… I’m so sorry for your family loss.
All that hand stitching is so impressive! The finished chemise is super cute!! I'm sorry for your loss but I'm glad you were able to see family. Can't wait for more!!
I’ve been trying to talk myself into learning insertion stitches 🧵 so hopefully I can work it on my next shift or combinations. Excellent idea thank you. I’m sorry for your family’s loss. I hope your fabric district shenanigans are fruitful.
I'm sorry for your loss. Your skill set is so diverse you blow my mind every damn time! Seriously, you're amazing. Your lace design is gorgeous and does look like snowflakes. A suggestion for the back - maybe you can string a ribbon through the top and the bottom of your design? It would work like temporary smocking and take care of the extra fabric. I also hope it was warm when you were filming that video, otherwise poor you! The kitties are amazing as always, even if Baby Bat seems to be a grumpy traveler. Looking forward to your new video!
Thank you on both counts! That’s a really good idea about the ribbon, ill try that and see how it works! Haha baby bat was pretty good for most of the travel, she just got a little grumpy on the flight back from California!
New to your channel and I have to say that I love the flow in this playlist of Frau (it's where I started watching). The information section that's broken up by sections of sewing, the occasional location and nature shot and the occasional inclusion of the cats, all of it partnered with fitting music. Very lovely, very relaxing, fun and informative to watch. Truly enjoyable! And nicely done work as well of course!
Super cute! Love the lace! Nylon takes dye really well, like blink and it's too dark well. I've never tried it with tea before tho. I also recently saw some RIT white-wash and am thinking about trying it out too lighten some cream stuff.
Oh' thank you ! I had a difficult time watching you the machine way doing reticello by hand would as I do, seem far easier why oh why I was thinkin' girl do it by hand! Alas she says would like to , I know you will like it. Have a good day .
I'm so sorry for your loss. Good to hear that the travel was good. The chemise is absolutely beautiful. Very inspiring. Seriously - it's really quite amazing to see that many techniques combined into one garment. As for me. If everything works out I'm about to bring home a second-hand half-size mannequin. And a roll of dot paper. I'm aiming to level up this coming year. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
thank you! and that's so exciting! I definitely want to get a half-size form at some point, it's so useful for figuring out patterns and yardage without dragging out a ton of muslin. yay for leveling up!
I'm sorry for your loss. This is amazing.. how... You work faster than a machine and the quality is better too xd the embroidery is gorgeous and fits the character so well.
thank you! haha I get through the tedious parts with lots of youtube and netflix, I actually look forward to all the handwork because I finally get to sit down and relax for a minute 😋
I am sorry for your loss. I'm always happy to see the kitties! (have a special soft spot for Babybat, I admit). And for your project, it is very nice to see a style and a period that hasn't been done to death yet. I love the 18th century, but the next time I have to endure another chemise a la Reine, I think I'm gonna scream. And about lace, have you considered thrifting? I've been mining antique fairs and thrift shops for years now and sometimes you can get some real bargains. Bed linens can really surprise you, lace wise. Have fun in LA!
Thank you so much 💕 I have to admit I am SO bad at thrifting 😅 but maybe it was the area I was in, now that I’ve moved I definitely want to check out antique fairs!
One of my favorite things about your cosplay videos is when you go into the history of the pieces and then explain what you're changing and why. I love just watching the sewing, but it also makes me feel like I'm learning too! (And not just sewing tips). As a history and cosplay lover, I love this part of your videos! Edit: I hadn't finished the video before commenting, I hope you're doing well. Thoughts to your family on their loss. Thanks for the updates on your cats, glad that it worked out for them.
So pretty! I was wondering what book you used for the base pattern? And may you have better days. Edit: Nevermind, went back and realized you all ready said it! Sorry!
I have literally been storing up your videos, waiting for a day I could sew. And the day has arrived. Thank you for keeping me company with my lace insertion endeavors, and speaking of which! I have a question about lace insertion for you. The cream lace you bought, it looks like a bobbin lace type weave rather than the standard "machine stitched into a ground" lace, and I have a cotton lace that looks similar. However I'm at a complete loss of how to finish the lace edges if a lace strip meets another piece of lace! I don't want the two overlapping because it will look messy, and I need a tiny discrete way of finishing the raw edge and I just can't think of anything. I saw that you had at least one point in the sleeve where the lace ran into itself, how did you manage that edge?
aww thank you for watching them! haha glad to keep you company 😊 for the lace, I fold the end over on itself and whip it down, then but that end to the edge of the side it meets, hope that helps!
I hadn’t thought to do that, mostly because bleaching is a lot less precise (for me at least), I’m much less confident in my ability to bleach to the correct shade without damaging the lace than I am in dyeing!
@@moth.faerie I would use the same process I use for hair. Make a test swatch, and dilute the bleach a LOT, letting time be the primary factor in how much you want it to lighten. I would not risk it on a darker color, but going from cream to brighter white seems pretty safe if you want to attempt it in the future. Your work is EXQUISITE, and I look forward to each new video.
I notice you use graphite pencils to mark on your fabric...does it come off easily? Do you have problems with it staining? I've been scared to try it because I've heard it stains. I have a lot of trouble with getting chalk to mark on my fabrics...I use a lot of cottons and it just does not want to mark...
I don’t know that it comes off easily, but I have never found it to be an issue in opaque fabrics. As long as you draw a line that’s pretty thin and light it shouldn’t show on the finished garment!
@@whimsicalmusedesign pretty much anything light enough to see it! for anything dark I use a white prismacolor or a white chalk pencil, mostly depending on what i have on hand but also the prismacolor is a lot smoother and just writes better than the chalk. if it's a mixed fabric with light and dark i'll switch which pencil i'm using
Knowing nothing about the character and being a native german speaker it feels so weird hearing her referred to as Frau, because that literally means woman Or Mrs./Ms. depending on the context. That might actually just be the character's name, but every time you said "I'm doing this and this for Frau's Smock" it registered weirdly in my brain. Anyway, Love your videos! The combination of historical and fantasy is exactly my vibe and kind of what I aspire to do, though I have started to sew not that long ago.
It's more the title of the illustration rather than the character's name I think? They're not really characters with stories as far as I know, just more characters for illustration sake! But who knows haha, glad you liked the video anyways!
The result is so pretty. I agree, the rushing looks really nice at the shoulders. All the lace makes it look so interesting for a chemise. Very interesting to look at. All my condolences for your family member.

I think it is nice ,agreed the lace in the back take it off and chose if you pleat or gather . Nice .
I also have a black cat who is also always making those cute little sounds.
you're not the first person to comment this! hmm I wonder if it's a black cat thing to make cute little squeaks?
@@moth.faerie Maybe. It's the cutest thing thought.
Very pretty 😀
Good job getting anything done when dealing with travel and loss. It looks wonderful!
Thank you so much, I appreciate it!
This is a super lovely final product. There is something about lace that just... UGH YAS.
Aah thank you!!
Just think of all the great techniques that you’ve learned…nothing is a waste of time. The chemise turned out beautifully. Thanks for the kitty news. They’re gorgeous!
Haha I guess in the grand scheme of things that’s very true that nothing is really a waste of time!
Wow! Lovely job, and soooooo much learning! Best kind of project--except for the time it takes more than planned.
Thank you! Haha yess I love projects that I have to learn lots of new techniques even if it adds to the time! just gotta budget time properly 😅

Loved your cat stories! We travel with cats and dogs, a lot!

omgggg I didn't know they were still performing!!! I used to love them in high school! I only saw them live once but they were SO GOOD
Thanks for the inspirations!
P.S. Yaaaaaas, I love your video inserts with cats🖤
