One of those rare artists who surpassed his own inspirations. Thank god somebody saw fit to save these bedroom recordings and release them. A true gift to the world.

i met peter in about 1974 at the viking saloon...we discuses the velvet underground 1969 live album and how the music of rocket from the tombs seemed vaguely like a cross between the velvet and Jefferson airplane which would be completely appropriate for Cleveland...some 30 years later i met a high school friend of his who told me peters drug abuse was bad even inhighscool

Lou Reed didn't kill Peter Laughner. Peter obvioulsly was in great pain in his life, but he loved Lou and the Velvets and their music gave him great joy.

Ruby was Ruby Port, who sang with Peter off and on in bands like Le Jazz Dogfood and as a duo.

This song sounds like a cold, rainy Saturday afternoon in Cleveland in the 1970s.

So great. Tragic early exit from Peter. When will someone get this stuff compiled and released for the masses to get their hands on?

peter why so intrigued by lou you had your own thing going im left with a few leaves from your tree .but what you planted was a musical legacy that has turned into a forest.

Maybe he so fascinated by Lou Reed, it was why he got into music in the first place or took it so seriously like a lot other were with The Beatles. He was still a Lou Reed fan who didn't live long enough to truly find his own voice as Peter Laughner the artist.
    Just a thought.

Peter loved Dylan, AND V. U. He was STUFFED with music, that boy was. Whenever he wrote reviews ....for Creem or wherever, he could always distinguish the underpinning influences of any piece of music. Some people were annoyed by it, but he didn't mean it in a bad way. Peter was simply WONDER - FILLED, and excited beyond reason, when he heard those things. bless him. rip darling.

For those fascinated by Peter and the cult that has grown up in his wake,I highly recommend Adele Bertei's memoir of their time together, "Peter and the Wolves". Its published by the book arm of Smog Veil.

Sadly, Smog Veil closed up for business a few years ago, but there are still some copies floating around. Great book!
