    Man you're a life saver, my mechanic was gonna charge me 500$ for this job, I knew I could have done it myself, but didn't have the courage to rip my car apart. With this video its gonna be a pieace of cake. Thanks man.

      Did this work out for you? I've already paid the dealership mechanic$560 for it to be repaired once and it just went out again lol im debating on allowing my personal mechanic to do it but wanted to verify they still work after the Instructions from this video lol

    Do not rotate your clockspring before replacing. Vw should auto learn SAS steering angle sensor as soon as you go driving.. it needs to detect wheel speed from all four before it recalibrates.. but if you center the wheel before removing just pull off and put on new clockspring and remove the locking tab

  •  Рік тому

    Bro whats the size of the triple square bit? Good video!

    Don't apologize for doing helpful content as well as cool content! When the clockspring goes, you lose power to everything. Having a functioning airbag and horn could save your bacon.

  • @bm4733

    Before anyone replaces a clock spring/ squib refer to your workshop manual to find out what make of spring you have valeo or another. Not all exact models have the same make of clock spring which means removal and connections may differ. Also ENSURE you run an autoscan using the appropriate diagnostics of the vehicle as you will 100% NEED the CODING from the old clock spring to enter into the new module. If you don’t have the correct coding you will have to put the old one back in again to get the code. After installation and coding the new module you will need to clear the faults using diagnostics because of battery disconnect and almost certainly need to do a steering angle sensor reset.

    • @BoostedMotorsports
      @BoostedMotorsports  5 років тому

      Good info! There is actually a recall on this for these cars also! Any info on coding with VCDS if the old clockspring was toast and got thrown out already?

    • @bm4733
      @bm4733 5 років тому

      BoostedMotorsports I think your only hope is to contact the country rep for VAG and beg for the code via er-win or search for the old /new part number on VAG or Ross tech forums with people who have cars with the same chassis number and have done auto scan. If you look at the autoscan at location 16 that’s where the steering wheel control module will be. If it’s the same part number with correct code and same chassis number then you could be in luck. You could try entering the code to see if it works. Always do autoscan before though if tit need to go back to how it was.

    So I'm thinking my clock spring might be broken.
    Things that work: headlights, sun roof, hazards, radio, DLS interior lights, dash lights.
    Things that don't work: Horn, & Turn signals (idk about the airbag haven't tested that)
    it anyone could hell that would be awesome!

    I did the same repair but I left the wheel turned to the side. when I reinstalled the new clock spring I centred it, and then offset it to where the other one was where I had marked it against the column. both ways work. the car will initially show a steering wheel calibration fault, but after driving a few blocks it goes away on it's own. nice video. good pace. sweet setup with the viper and the garage.

    Thanks for the video. I completed my change over last week. The hardest part for me was the removal of the horn piece. It was super heavy and would not budge out. Eventually I understood the mirror to see the spring clip. Once levered off the post I needed the back end of a hammer claw to help pull it straight out. I struggled for hours when I needed a bit more grunt to pull.

    Great video! Same procedure for a CC with immobilizer key fob (fob inserts into dash next to steering wheel), you just have to leave the battery connected until after you are done turning the steering wheel to get the airbag springs popped loose. Remember to center it before disconnecting the battery.

    After connecting the battery at the end do you have to reset the windows and other electrical stuff using a scan? Or it should work out automatically?

    • @BoostedMotorsports
      @BoostedMotorsports  5 років тому +1

      If you didn’t have a SRS light before as long as you don’t connect the battery with the airbag removed then you shouldn’t have to reset anything with a scanner. The windows you just reprogram yourself once the battery is connected again by holding each switch up for 3 seconds so that the one touch down relearns. 👍

    i needed to replace clock spring on my 2013 Tiguan and i called local VW dealer for parts and what it would cost for them to program it after i install the part. This doesn't happen often but got great news....vw dealer advised that parts and labor to replace the clock spring is 100% covered by the dealer. so i called another dealer to verify they told me the same ( i scheduled an appointment for 01/03, i told this will take half day) . They advised that the clock spring warranty has been extended. this was a nice surprise. please check with your dealership prior to purchasing and replacing your clock spring. they said that as long as your mileage is lower than 999,999 you are covered. that's what their warranty shows. basically all cars are covered.

      Vycho Mora the clock spring has the wiring that controls steering wheel functions like the volume and mfi. Also controls the power to the airbag igniter. So as long as the wires are pulled and snapped the airbag won't work nor will the electronics on the steering wheel. It can also trip the airbag light
