So in a W126 we have a electroinic speedometer. This is a common problem that the gears from to the distance counter and
the daycounter brake.
The gears will just brake of or the tops will be of and the daycounter will not run or both will be broken.
So i have bought a repair set on ebay for about € 12,- i thought it was.
So got the clock out of the cluster and replaced them.
The set should be a direct fit and in most parts it was. But on the second gear i needed to get some plastic cut of to make a good fit
so it would turn and tht the cover could be put on.
Also on the small gear i needed to do more mods. the hole is a bout 2mm standard. but the axle where the gear need to be on is about
3.5mm so i had to drill it bigger to 3.5mm..
I also put a drop of glue on the back to make it a stuck fit
After this i tested it in the car and it works like new again so pretty easy job and can be done in about 30min.

Sir, do you find reinstalling the needles for w126 tough? Unlike w124. The pins wont stay/ cant press in the shaft. Or meter is broken?

Search on eBay. Mercedes speedometer Gear Then You Will Find a lot have a look for the right model so in your case w201 and for KLM OR mph i thought there is a difference in hoe Many teeth on the gears

one question everything in my console works bar the fuel level. i can jump the two cables coming from the sender to earth and then the tank will read full, do i just have a bad sender or bad cable coming from the dash to the rear of the car would you know?

The best thing to start with is to check if all connectors are free of corrosion so You got a good signal. But if You tested the Dash gauge that is working so try to test the wiring at the sensor and do the same and look if the gauge on the Dash Will also have a full reading if this works and the connectors are free of corrosion You have a bad sensor . Take IT step by step to sort IT out.

The number? Number of teeth on the gear . The small one is 12 i think

Hello, I have a 1986 Mercedes 560 SEL and I repaired the gears for the speedometer. Now, I can't get the cluster back into the dash. Is their a trick to it? It came out easy, I just can't get it to fit back in. Thanks, Tom

There is a rubber deal around the cluster and springs that Hold IT in place in the Dash. Make Shure that there are no wirings in between. You need to push IT in against the spring pressure

I have problem withe my "oil pressure gaga" , when the car is cold it's running as it should, but wen I drive it for about 40min or more it goes down to 0 all though the oil pump works fine, Not : When I tap on the dashboard it starts running again !!!Any ideas 💡?
