My other sarky reason for A4 Avant ownership is that a Subie says, "I buy all of my Clothing at REI" and an Audi says, "I buy all of my clothing at Banana Republic," but the 17-year-old Audi says, "I buy all of my Banana Republic clothing at Goodwill," which in my case, is true. Mine is a manual five speed, FWIW. I think this merits me real leather shoes.
+Dejan Pećanac I live on a steep hill and the access to my driveway is via an alley that is not maintained. It turns into a solid sheet of ice in the wintertime. My old FWD Honda Civic couldn't make it up the alley. My RWD Toyota Tacoma can't, either. the AWD Audi, though, it is nice and steady. It's got enough torque to handle a second-gear start which is essential when navigating icy streets. The other nice thing about the AWD is that acceleration feels more subtle. I have to watch out with it or I will come on to the freeway going 120km/h (+/- 75 mph!) which in Kansas is highly frowned upon! Because of this subtle feeling, the car seems more sophisticated - a grownup's car after my hoonable '88 Civic DX hatch.

I had an 03 a4. Every hard plastic piece in those cars is coated with a rubberish coating. It barely takes anything to rub it off. Combine that with a cooling system that I almost had to completely replace, makes that a car I'll probably never buy again.

It still bothers me that Audi sell CVT transmissions in the USA. I thought it was a joke when someone told me but nope, they actually do sell CVTs in the USA! Meanwhile, the only options I can get for in the EU (and rightfully so) are a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed Dual Clutch (6-speed is standard). Step up your game, Audi North America.
Mathieu Levac Nope. They still sell CVTs now. Its the only option available on FWD models. ryanmail2004 Technically, the EU pays less for an Audi than the USA does. The reason why it looks like the EU Pays more is because, by law, our sticker price includes all taxes and extra charges unlike the USA where its just the MSRP of the car and nothing else. Its difficult to do a direct comparison since base model slightly differ between countries. The UK Audi A4, for example, comes with a 1.8L engine and a 6-speed with FWD, the USA comes with a 2.0L engine and a CVT with FWD - but the MSRP between the two is a whopping $3500 in favour of the UK. Less standard equipment in the USA but a much weaker engine in the UK. Swings and roundabouts, really. Once you start comparing spec-for-spec (S-Line in the UK, Prestige in the USA), the price difference shrinks to about than $1000, but the UK would still be the slightly cheaper option as far as MSRP is concerned.
Damn you're right! They just used to call them cvt out right before. Now named multitronic. Figured with the horrendous track record the b6 cvt had, they stopped making them!
My friend used to have a B5 Passat that had a 1.8t with a 5 speed and a great tune with exhaust. I'm not gonna lie, that car was great. It was nice to drive in, the tune made it pretty quick, and the interior was very well made. It didn't remind me of any stereotypes associated with "cheap" German vehicles of the time.
I agree. I currently have a B5.5 Passat with a 5 speed and I think it was built really well. However, I've also driven a 2002 A4 and honestly the interior quality is inferior to my Passat's interior. It's way less comfortable and the materials are just junk. Plus in all honesty I didn't think it looked as good as the Passat...
rkan2 They aren't exactly the same. interior and exterior are totally different and the Passat rides on a slightly stretched version of the A4 chassis. Also I actually meant that I drove a 2001 A4. The 2002 A4 rides on the B6 platform.

I had the 3.2 v6 version and it was quite fun. You could drive it like a solid sedan, or you could floor it and be up to 100 before you knew it. And handled and cornered quite well. And the seats were super comfortable.
"It has an aesthetic that's as common as the urge to sprint during the 'load screen' of Assassin's Creed..." Holy shit...wow...fucking nailed that one haha What's scary was I wasn't aware that I ALWAYS did that...until now O_o
Bolt ons, k04 turbo and a tune shoots the power level right up around 300 (if you use good parts with a quality tune). 1.8t is a tank of an engine. Iron block with a great flowing head. Mine has 300,000 miles tuned at 25si, issue free so far aside from a ps pump and alternator.

Back in the sticks of Pennsyltucky, Rupublicans who think they will be the brunt of a bad stereo type because they would own an Outback or a Forrester will purchase a stripped down, base model, Grand Cherokee Laredo. The b5 had the aeb engine which had larger ports on the head, but a slightly smaller turbo (ko3) it made 150. the b6 had the amb, if i recall correctly. It had the ko3s turbo and smaller head ports. It made 170.
Yeah like i said previously, the b6 IN CANADA(eh) AND USA where i am from (and the channel's owner is from) only had the 170hp 4cyl the 3.0 v6 and the 4.2 v8. No different powers in the engines. Im quite knowlegdable about the VAG world.
I always have wanted to see my car on this channel, which is a 2007 Saturn Aura XR. It's after Saturn reinvented itself, so I'd be curious as to what he thought of it. Much better than the Ion.
The Aura was a great car. Mainly because it was a rebadged version of an existing great Euro car. The Ion on the other hand was based on the Cobalt so it didn't have much ceiling to shoot for.
Suboptimus Lime then that must mean the Passat is a compact car. I read somewhere that the A4 is a compact car, somewhere between the sizes of the Passat and the Jetta.
+Raphy G. It scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. Not so much for the sad parts, but the part where the one kid dies on his own hatchet. It was 10 times worse in the book-on-tape version, I assure you.
+rrpostalagain What most Americans don't know is that those crossovers are basically very chunky wagons. They aren't SUV's. Gee when you look under your mom's Toyota Highlander, do you see a solid rear axle or ladder frame? Nope, all I see is a Camry-like independent suspension and sagging air dams. Basically a glorified wagon.
Americans are weird about cars because they don’t have anything normal to drive anymore and when they do, they complain about the small issue like it’s the end of the world aka uncle pulltab types just bitching about weird cars or “ non American cars.”
I love the way you review cars. I a huge car enthusiast and like the technical in depth reviews like from Motor Trend ignition but its nice to hear funny yet still relating to cars reviews. They were standard in the Lexus SC430 up until the 2009 model year and optional in 2010. And even if you look at the faceplate on the 2010 without the option, you can tell where it used to be. They didn't even redesign the radio; just removed the tape deck slot and replaced the button that said 'TAPE' with one that said 'AUX'.

I had the B5 A4 avant- wagon 5 speed.. full Suspension ATP turbo etc it was super heavy but was a fun car especially for San Francisco to Los Angeles road trips
The A4 is not built on the Passat platform. The Passat platform is called PQ46(A6), while the A4's platform is called PL46(B6) The Passat platform is basically a stretched Golf 5 or Jetta platform
you left out how the glove box door is always broken too.. and how the cover for the cup holder and little storage thing come off... and how they're all missing the cover for the diver side of the engine bay... haha. They have a fancy leather bound owners manual too, with a special pocket for it under the steering wheel.... its always missing too. so you never know how to operate the space aged driver information stuff.... these are things i noticed when i bought my 03 a month ago.
I own a 2003 Audi Avant 3.0 (bought it new). That is SIX cylinders with a 6 speed manual. Smooth engine and handles like it is on rails. There is nothing else on the market that checks all the boxes that I want in a car (14 years later).

The 1.8t has 170 in the b6 model not 148. lol
Uhm no, i had an early b5 only they made 150. Late b5 and b6 all made 170.
Sline is only body, interior and suspension, no power mods.
The b5 had the aeb engine which had larger ports on the head, but a slightly smaller turbo (ko3) it made 150. the b6 had the amb, if i recall correctly. It had the ko3s turbo and smaller head ports. It made 170.
Mathieu Levac
They sell underpowered cars to Americans. Maybe it has something to do with this. 148HP for a 1.8T seemed pretty low to me too.
This review was even better than usual, for some reason. Keep it up guys!
If you are ever in the Ann Arbor area, feel free to do a review on anything in our garage.
you should do the c5 allroad! 6mt if you can track one down.
Plz do an early Geo Metrol 3 cylinder 1.0
Geo Metro
The Official Car of: "Beggars Can't be Choosers, but I'm not going to drive your damned Prius Dad."
so when are you actually gonna do a review of the Catera?
I always have wanted to see my car on this channel, which is a 2007 Saturn Aura XR. It's after Saturn reinvented itself, so I'd be curious as to what he thought of it.
Much better than the Ion.
The Aura was a great car. Mainly because it was a rebadged version of an existing great Euro car. The Ion on the other hand was based on the Cobalt so it didn't have much ceiling to shoot for.
Joel Back
I love my Aura. And it was a rebadged Opel Vectra with a bigger engine, if I'm not mistaken.
Nice Passat.
Jetta*
Daniel Liston an A6 is a Passat.
Passat. The A4 has never been on the same platform.
Suboptimus Lime
then that must mean the Passat is a compact car. I read somewhere that the A4 is a compact car, somewhere between the sizes of the Passat and the Jetta.
TheKiltedYaksman1 lol yeah the B5 Passat and B5 A4 are on the same platform
Where the Red Fern Grows made me cry as a kid
+Raphy G.
It scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. Not so much for the sad parts, but the part where the one kid dies on his own hatchet. It was 10 times worse in the book-on-tape version, I assure you.
God, I had a Passat with the same engine and B6 platform....... Stepping on the accelerator you felt like you were always waiting for the power.
I had a professor with one of these. Class was never canceled.
I like this car a lot. Why are americans so weird about wagons these days?
Like your references. You are like the Colin noir of cars. Check out his gun reviews. He reviews guns the way you review cars
Loved the frozen bit. GG Mr Regular.
Hate to admit but I really like that damn song. My kids are apeshit for it too. Once you embrace your inner sissy, it ain't so bad.
A tape deck? In 2005?
They were standard in the Lexus SC430 up until the 2009 model year and optional in 2010. And even if you look at the faceplate on the 2010 without the option, you can tell where it used to be. They didn't even redesign the radio; just removed the tape deck slot and replaced the button that said 'TAPE' with one that said 'AUX'.
this guy never ceases to amaze me i mean i literally started laughing so hard at the furaffinity quote that i almost died. Good Job Mr.Regular Good Job.
The internet knows making any sort of FA or (the other site that shall not be named) reference is taboo, this guy just flings one out like it's nothing. RCR you legend.
My old gym teacher drove a 08 a4. This is amazing
I had the B5 A4 avant- wagon 5 speed.. full Suspension ATP turbo etc it was super heavy but was a fun car especially for San Francisco to Los Angeles road trips
Did The Roman just threw in a reddit reference at the end? or maybe it's just me and have been hanging around reddit for too long.
i was watching this is class and when he started throwing the saws i couldnt help but laugh
lol Furaffinity
i freaking died from hearing that lol
Damn, good choice with the Weepies song. Didn't expect to hear that gem. Wish the rest of their stuff was that good :P
I love the song parodies at the end of the videos.
Even tho these are 20yo, driving a tidy/clean one still gets you a bit of executive respect.
That ending song was perfect.
Hey Mister Regular!!! Speaking of Cadillac Catera, how soon for a review over one?
Do you guys have full versions of the songs you make?
hey Mr Regular/Roman, can you post plans for your sweet dangly go-pro steady rig?
Where do I get a regular car reviews sticker???
Tell me tell me please I wanna know I want one
2:55
Im ctfu.
i used to play that series so much when i was younger.
That engine can make som serious power - awesome engine :)
I freaking LOVE your furry jokes!
The A4 is not built on the Passat platform. The Passat platform is called PQ46(A6), while the A4's platform is called PL46(B6)
The Passat platform is basically a stretched Golf 5 or Jetta platform
Was the throwing of the saws a bigirpall reference?
Seriously, what's with the saws? Why do you need so many?
Sup RCR, I got a peugot 107 you can review next time you come to the UK.
you left out how the glove box door is always broken too.. and how the cover for the cup holder and little storage thing come off... and how they're all missing the cover for the diver side of the engine bay... haha. They have a fancy leather bound owners manual too, with a special pocket for it under the steering wheel.... its always missing too. so you never know how to operate the space aged driver information stuff.... these are things i noticed when i bought my 03 a month ago.
U have to review the S-10 ik so many owners of s-10s with 300k+ miles on it.
Best video yet!
Nice review, could you review a 1990-1993 Isuzu Impulse. I can only imagine lol...
If he can find one! you know how rare those cars are?
Antwon Jenkins my brother had 3, one to drive 2 for parts
Holy shit hes lucky. Ive never seen one in my life aside from pics
Mr. RegularCars ! how much time you need for make one Review ? well made, i like it ;)
I own a 2003 Audi Avant 3.0 (bought it new). That is SIX cylinders with a 6 speed manual. Smooth engine and handles like it is on rails. There is nothing else on the market that checks all the boxes that I want in a car (14 years later).
I'm about to buy this exact car...
Furaffinity xD Reaaally?
Knowing what we know now, after Mr. Regular came out, the comment about FurAffinity really starts to make sense, lol
People really let this guy drive their car just so he can make fun of them? Lol.
